Okay, this card is the biggest I've ever seen. Checked the case and it will fit! Very happy right now!

IT IS ALIVE!!!! (Frankenstein voice....) Sliced my finger trying to get the PSU in, but, after many headaches, it is in. All of my drivers crashed upon first start, reinstalled them and it's pure awesomeness. I'm sitting here watching the Bengals beat up on the Jets on the 42", and typing on the 22", not a stutter in sight. Things would bog down with the 670, the card actually has one 680 chip running each monitor. Just tried running Fifa and it crashed, but 2k14 is running at max detail, smooth as butter! Still can't playback avi in real time, but just ordered two 16Gb Corsair Vengeance kits, hoping that will give me the speed I need. Very happy camper, all in all!

Informative video. So at stock speeds at 1080p the R9 290X is more powerful then the GTX 780. At stock and over clocked speeds, at 1440p resolutions, the R9 290x is even more powerful then the GTX Titan and GTX 780.

Not bad considering the R9 290x only cost $550 and was built with 4K and 1440p resolution in mind.

I had too many stuttering issues with Fifa and my old AMD. I know they've gotten a hold of the drivers, but I'm still an NVidia guy. Adobe is optimized for Cuda. I know they do Open CL acceleration, but it's really built for Cuda. And I've got a ton of Cuda cores now!

GTX 770, 780, and Titan's come with free copies of Arkham Origins, AC IV, and Splinter Cell: Blacklist. The price of the 770 also was cut to $330.

Might be time to upgrade from this 560Ti.

Re: Official "I want to build a New PC!" Thread

Got the first of my Corsair Vengeance ram today. It worked. Yes! What stinks is that I bought two 16GB sets and they both arrived today. Problem is that one guy required a signature, so back to the Post Office it goes. No big deal. Side trip on the way home from work. But I did have a successful Windows 7 Pro upgrade, and expect that tomorrow at this time I will be rocking 32GB.

Out of the "good problems to have" file: I noticed that my PC is faster. But I'm wondering if it's because I only have two sticks in. The native speed of the RAM is 1600 mhz. But I read that the RAM gets downclocked on this board. But only if all the slots are filled. So I'm thinking my speed boost is temporary. So do I go for 32GB of slightly slower RAM, or keep 16GB of RAM that runs at full speed? Good problem to have.....

Update: found a deal on another Sandisk 240gb ssd. Have to send back my 5.25 drive bay Hard drive mount, and get a dual 2.5 drive bay. That will make three 240gb SSD's, one 750gb hybrid, one 1tb USB 3.0 drive and one 1tb stock HDD.

Are you using windows xp or 95? BF4 min specs is Windows Vista 32 bit.

It says my OS is recommended to be Windows 8. I got Windows 7.

Then my Video Card pops up. (First number is what it says is required and second number is what I have.)

Pixel Shader version 5.0-------------5.0
Vertex Shader version 5.0-------------5.0
Dedicated Video RAM 3 GB-------------2.1 GB

Then CPU speed of 3.5 GHz pops up as well.

Well as far as Windows 7 or 8 that should make zero difference. Ram comes into play between 32 bit and 64 bit but it didn't say anything so you should be fine. Your video ram should be fine as long as you are not trying to push past 1900x1200.

What processor do you have?

I got the same type of recommended stuff. My Gtx 690 didn't meet the top recommended specs, nor did my CPU or OS. I'd take that reading with a grain of salt. I did it, too. Barely made it over the "required" specs. Tested against every other AAA title and maxed the meter out. I hit the little question marks and it tried to sell me diagnostic software. Really? As long as you meet the published mins, you should be just fine.

Windows 8 is just a marketing ploy.

You should have 0 issues running it.
