It sucks, but at least I have the opportunity to try to find a 360 elsewhere in the meantime. And if I do find one elsewhere, I have $430 store credit for games.

Jt, when mine froze, I tried to boot it up again and that's when it broke. It just failed to load up again and then the red lights began blinking. Seems your situation is different.

Thanks Drag. It happened once before with NBA 2K but has worked fine the rest of the time. After going through 4 PS2's I am just expecting it to break. Hey what's that dark rain cloud doing up there?

I guess it was my time. I am one of the few who bought both the PS2 and XBOX at launch and never had a problem with either of them. In fact, I still have my launch XBOX and it works like a charm (of course, it will break tonight as well considering I have no other console at the present).

Mine's dead. It was fine for such a long time too, think it's the update. A lot of people have had problems since then so I'd suggest avoiding it if possible though most probably already have it.

3 red lights = general hardware failure.

It happened a little earlier, when I was trying to play the Saints Row demo. The game froze just as I started playing. I turn the system off, then back on, and got 3 red lights. So I did exactly what it said to do on Xbox.com, but it didn't work.

My 360 is under warranty with Microsoft though, so it's not so bad.

Hopefully you only have to wait 1-2 weeks.

I somewhat feel your pain, yesterday I had the TV repair man come and take the guts out of my HD rear projection on the way to the shop for repair. When he told me that it could take 7-14 business days, I was like ouch. I have to hookup my 360 to my 30" HD for the time being, but I don't think I'm going to be hooking the 360 back up to the RP when I get it back. I sometimes worry if the gaming had something to do with the problem, but what are you going to do.

If you could keep us updated on your experience, that would be cool. I have a 2yr warranty through MS also for the 360 and I've heard good and bad stories.

Sorry to hear that Flaw. How were you able to get an extended warranty with MS, living in FL? I live in Sarasota, FL and my EB told me that MS isn't allowed to sell extended warranties in FL.

I called MS and they confirmed that.

First time I heard this. I sent off for the warranty that came with my 360. The guy I talked to today from support confirmed my 360 was under warranty. If they end up trying to charge me later for the repair, then I either want a refund for the warranty I sent off for or 50% off the repair.

Sounds like you have an incredibly rough life. Hooking up your 360 only to your 30" HD. LOL.

Somewhat related 360 warranty/horror story. I live in Florida and bought my 360 in the beginning of April. Maybe I've just been lucky, but I have been playing games since Atari and never had a console die on me. Therefore I never thought twice about buying a warranty.

Well everything was fine. I had an occasional freeze but overall my 360 was working well until..... I downloaded the NCAA demo and it froze about 25% of the time. I figured it was just a demo so there might be some bugs in it. I buy NCAA and started playing it like crazy. It froze a couple of times on the first day and I thought maybe it was just overheating since this was the first game I really put in some marathon gaming sessions with.

Well it got to the point where it was freezing 50% of the time even after getting a replacement disk from Gamestop. I read here at OS that for some people these were the early symptoms before their entire 360 died and that Microsoft was telling them it would be $140 to get it fixed. At this point I didn't know what to do.

I decide to call MS to see if somehow I can get a warranty on my 360 even though its past 90 days. I get a rep from overseas and we are having some serious communication problems right of the bat. Which I'm thinking is to my advantage. At some point I'm expecting her to see I signed up for Live 4 months ago and actually had to call for some help and for her to tell me it's too late to get a warranty. But not so fast my friends!

I could tell she knew something was up, but she asks me when I got my console. Now I'm normally an honest person , but I make up some B.S. story about how my roomate gave it to me as a gift a week ago and she buys it. So I think I'm home free and she says she'll sign me up for a 1 year warranty for $32.00. At this point the conversation goes completely haywire. She asks me for my name, address, and credit card # no less than 7 times. I want to hang up but I figure this is my only shot at getting a warranty. Finally she says I'm signed up and I'm a happy camper until....

I look at my bank account online today and see I was charged 3 times for the warranty. Karma's a bitch. I call them and the rep says "Wow, they did charge you 3 times." He proceeds to tell me there is nothing he can do and I have to write a letter to MS in Washington. I want to tell him to get a supervisor on the phone, but if they really look into my account they will see I shouldn't have been allowed to get the warranty in the first place.

The point of this novel is I do live in Florida and they gave me a warranty. As for NCAA its still freezing every other game, but all my other games are working. I plan on writing this letter and getting my money back. As long a my other games work I'm going to hold off sending in my 360 till this other stuff is cleared. And to anyone who read this whole thing that has not bought a next gen console yet BUY THE WARRANTY!!!!!!!!

I was kind of upset that they were taking the guts out for repair, I also do all of my tv watching on that tv. So it was more than just having to hook up the 360 to another tv. LOL!

There's a MUCH EASIER WAY of getting your money back Diesel. Call your credit card company explain the situation dispute 2 of the 3 charges for $64.00, they'll contact MS and you'll get back $64 back plus you'll be covered for 1 year. Life is Good

I have a fairly new 360 only a couple of week. I live in Jax FL. I got a 2 year warranty just fine. No questions asked. I keep my house 74 degrees or cooler with a ceiling fan on while I do play the box. I have been lucky so far with my box360 working.
