The Playstation name is Sony's most valuable asset. But if they push the idea that they can prop up the rest of their business by using it then they may ruin the value of the Playstation name.

I'm sorry, but I just can't agree with that. You can't just expect people go buy it because it says Playstation on the box. Contrary to your belief, price does matter. It matters a lot.

Release date won't matter in the scheme of things, unless it's so far away from now that Mommy and Daddy get junior an XBox 360 in the meantime. At that point, release date becomes an issue as well.

If/when Sony announces a delay, I'm sure they'll state why and people will realize it's for the best.
Well fishepa, I guess the sarcasm wasn't needed. This guy has you covered.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

The single thing that will hurt Sony the most this generation is GAMES. With a good % of Sony's 3rd party exclusives going multi platform you have to ask yourself, Is the PS3 worth the extra cash for its first party games? It just seems to me the first party stuff has gotten stale over the last year an a half.

And when Sony finally gets into the states the 360 should finally be hitting its stride. Another $500-750 for only 5-10 exclusive games over the life of the system I don't know.

One thing that would make me buy a PS3 is if they came packaged with an Sony HDTV with a big discount.

Cause the Blue-Ray doesnt do it for me. I hardly watch DVD's as it is. Especially now that Comcast InDemand is growing by leaps and bounds.

Ahh...Thats the last thing you need to worry about with a Sony console GAMES...Its guaranteed to have great games...

5-10 exclusives over its lifespan?...Where are you getting such a small number from? With every new PS console there has been a ton of new franchises.

Were God of War, Jak and Daxter, Sly Cooper, Rachect & Clank, Socom, DMC, ZOE, ICO and countless others Playstation ONE games? NO, they were all new franchises introduced with the PS2...So what makes you think there won't be any new ones this time?

I can already name; Endless Saga, DC MMO, I-8, Heavonly Sword, Warhawk, Lair, MotorStorm, Blade Storm, NioH, ---All new Sony exclusive franchises, and thats just the start. PS3 will have no shortage of new and old franchises.

Seriously games are the least of my concerns when buying a Sony console.

If you look in the title of the thread, it also says "discussion".

Oh ok, I do plan to get my own eventually...But I feel the opposite of most 360 owners; meaning, I don't feel like paying full price for two consoles that are very similar, especially when I already have one in my houshold. I'll be waiting for a $250-$199 price drop before I get one of my own...Primary console first, that's the rule I go by...And yes I know it sounds silly, but that's the way I operate.

One thing I wondered about is why Sony or Microsoft hasn't announced any deals where their console was included with a new HDTV purchase.

With this being such a war for the living room media center, why not give the consoles away like cell-phones and make a killing on the games.
