I havent played a game like this in a long time. Thanks for the impressions. For someone who doesnt have alot of time to play games due to 2 jobs and being a full time student, will there be enjoyment even if I dont come close to winning the game? It sounds like it.

You need to use Silver weapons. I killed a ghost and a vampire today with my silver bow and arrows.

Does anyone know if the months in this game have impact on the weather. I thought I read treesand grass will change color with the seasons as well as snow falling and such.

If there's a game that it's possible to get enjoyment out of without beating it, this is it. You don't beat life, you just live it. You can 'beat' the main quest in Oblivion, but the ride is what makes it so damn good.

I've put in about 10 hours and haven't even addressed the first quest for the main storyline. Too busy doing my own thing!

Me either... I'm wandering around, do my thing, etc. I'm just scanning this thread and I'm stuff about Portals, blah, blah... I'm like, uh.. what?

Just simply a great game. There's no way anybody should be wondering about this game. If they aren't sure, BUY IT. Shoot, if you don't like it, I'll buy it from you.... that's how certain I am everybody would love this game.

Absolutely. I played Morrowind for 2 years and never beat the main quest. There's so much else to do, you never really feel pressured to do the main quest if you don't feel like it.

Haha, same here. I've been off stealing horses and getting thrown in jail rather that doing the main quest.

Thanks for the responses guys. I just got back from work and am going out to get it. The last adventure type game I played was Fantasy Star for Sega . I would just cruise the different worlds and have a blast. This sounds similar and its next gen so how could I go wrong.

About lock picking, the speed of the tumbler going up changes from tumbler to tumbler so your timing on pressing A has to adjust to each one. As you get better when you miss a tumbler only 1 or 2 might fall back down instead of all of them.

I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum. I have been doing the main quest and it is a blast. Along the way I picked up the side quest of helping the military reclaim a city and that was a lot of fun. Although those soldiers die pretty easily......

ok, well I caved and picked it up today on my lunch break, priced matched compusa at best buy for $49 inc tax. anyways, I've never played a RPG in my life. Is there a training level or does the beginning of the quest act as a tutorial or what? Cause if they just throw me in there i'm gonna be clueless.

They throw you right in a jail cell and off you go.

                                But wait...

The first room you learn to move around a bit. Then the next room you find a weapon, it tells you how to equip it. Then you swing it at a rat or two. Then it gives you a torch. You pick a lock to get a bow. You shoot a bow at a bucket for target practice. You try and sneak up on goblins. You set off traps. You play for about 30 minutes, and then you pick your character class, and it recommends a class for you based on how you've played since the "do this" prompts quit showing up. It's brilliant, actually. You don't know what you're doing, but as long as you read the prompts on screen and don't blow through them, you'll never be lost.
