I had a hankering for a non sports game today, so I just ran over to walmart and picked this up. It was between this and COD5. I havent opened it yet though. I read some great impressions so far, but how does it stand up after being out for a month??

Stands up great. Give it a little while to get going and until you can buy some new weapons. It starts out a little slow, but once you get the gist of what's going on, it is an absolute blast, a first-rate game.

Awesome. I will start playing it after dinner since the football games suck today.

They certainly do suck today. You'd think the NFL would know better than to schedule Seattle. And teh league needs to permanently revoke the Lions' Thanksgiving status. I'm tired of having to sit through those horrible performances every year. Better yet, just kick that team out of the league altogether.

Picked this up for $40 after tax at Best Buy. So far, VERY impressed... the graphics are outstanding too, wow.

That's what I've been reading... Now I have to somehow split my time between this, COD5 and GOW2... Right now I'm leaning towards this though

For someone who owns both this and CoD5, how do they compare? I've got CoD5, and I'm considering getting this.

I have both, but I have put in so little time with either games.

I will say this though, Far Cry is much more original, and the graphics are probably a step above.

So take that for what it's worth I guess.

I just got the hang glider this morning. Pretty neat, although I couldn't pilot it very well and crashed into a mountain.

Just started playing this game and liking it so far. It's starting off slow like you guys said and I just finished the tutorial and getting the maleria pills but now starting to do missions and finding these repawning soldiers at these checkpoints annoying as I can't drive back and forth without killing the same guys over and over. Is the whole game like that and you have to get used to it?

Also does sleeping do anything for you besides doing a mission at night. It doesn't replenish your health or delay the maleria symptoms or anything like that?

Those pesky mountains, they just sneak up on you because they're so small.

Checkpoints are always like that. Honestly you get used to them and they become not such a big deal. I actually enjoy engaging the checkpoints, especially from a distance with the dart rifle. Mega fun. Definitely do the weapon dealer missions ASAP to help you get better weapons. Once you get a sniper rifle and a rocket launcher, the game dynamics change dramatically and the checkpoint enemies become a piece of cake.

Sleeping does renew health I believe, but does not help malaria. BTW, doing missions at night is MUCH easier than in the daylight. If I am gearing up for a real humdinger of a mission, I will try to go at night.

Give it a while, it gets terrific. I have had my in-laws in town and have not played in 4 or 5 days and I am jonesing big time.
