Re: Rock Band 2
I thought they said they were going to even make their game compatible with the GH instruments, meaning I think they were going to do something different with the drums this year. Was there something that said they weren't?Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

PANIC ATTACK BY DREAM THEATER! PANIC ATTACK BY DREAM THEATER!
AW-TOE MAA-TICK. They don't have to do anything else. Being able to sit back and work on Mike Portnoy's drums is more than worth 60 bucks for me. WOW. Again, for the uninitiated:

It ain't everybody's cup of tea, but it's my cup of tea, my cup of coffee, and whatever else I care to drink. Great news.Comment

Re: Rock Band 2
Although it won't have any additional pads, the Rock Band 2 drum set will feature velocity-sensitive pads that will play "louder" in the game the harder you hit them. The pads themselves will be more muffled to cut down on the noisy clatter as you wail away, and will feature a better bounce, making them ostensibly easier to play.
We didn't get a chance to play the new instruments in a game setting or try out the new game modes at the pre-E3 event, but we did get a chance to try a few of the new songs.Comment

Re: Rock Band 2
I have heard people rave about Dream Theater constantly (mainly in the rockband.com forums) and I have never heard of them. I checked them out on Itunes and it sounds like they've been around for a long time. Why have I never heard of them? With all the raving that everyone does about them, I can't figure out why they aren't well known. Maybe I just live under a rock. What's the deal?Xbox Live Gamertag: MizzouBrentComment

Re: Rock Band 2
That would be cool if they could get the cover of While My Guitar Gently Weeps in the game (the one with Mike Portnoy and Paul Gilbert), like when they did in GH2 with that VH cover of You Really Got Me. Not likely, but I really liked that version. Although I certainly wouldn't want to turn this game into a shred fest.Comment

Re: Rock Band 2
It's all of the same features as the GH:WT drums, sans the raised symbols. Great thing for me, is Rock Band is a sixty dollar investment until (if ever) I feel like going in for another 150-200 bucks, whereas GH:WT brings the extra money, plus the extra inconvenience of another drumset in the house. In all honesty though, the DLC, setlist and game design of Rock Band make this a no brainer for me.
Luckily, I'll only have to buy the RB2 disc, and I think my friend is going to buy GH:WT, so I'll just buy the drums for that and not have to have both in my apartment.Comment

Re: Rock Band 2
The raised symbols make the drums a lot more realistic than having four pads. The four-pad method just feels awkward in certain songs when the blue (or yellow, for me on lefty-mode) switches back and forth between different types of real drums.

Re: Rock Band 2
My friend is definitely going to be buying the GH:WT disc and the guitar, I'll try and throw in a little for the drums, and that will be at his apartment. I'll have RB and RB2 at my apartment...and it can be the best of both worlds.Comment

Re: Rock Band 2
One thing I really wish they would add is a double bass pedal. That Dream Theater song is a prime example of why it would be helpful.Comment

Re: Rock Band 2
You ain't lyin. I can't believe neither of them have put this in yet. I'm not spending any more money on fake electric drums until there is a double pedal. I'll probably just grab some real electric drums anyway. It's almost at that point.Comment
