I honestly never got into diablo. I played the demo back in the day, and the baby mama would play it into the wee hours while I was PS2'in it up, but that's about it. based on my limited knowledge I would say it's like diablo in that:
-medieval type setting where you fight demons and whatnot
-you pick a class and it determines what abilities you have
-you can go through levels/dungeons and kill beasties to get more souls/xp
-it's an action rpg
I think, if you were to compare it to anything, it's more like the Baldur's Gate/Dark Alliance games, and if you liked Diablo or any of those other games, you're probably gonna enjoy this one. Keep in mind it is definitely tough and can be really frustrating at times.

Well I got to the second world last night. The weapon I have right now does 108 damage but my armor is pretty weak so only a few attacks take all my health.

I am using a wander. Which is good at evasive attacks and back stabs. So instead of loading myself down with heavy armor I stay with the standard leather. It allows me to stay fast and can quickly roll out the way of attacks and then do a instant kill.

I just bought a big axe that does 80 damage. With it wielded with two hands it slaughters anyone with good defense. It just slams right on through and knocks back and does big damage.

I been farming the first world over and over to get my souls up and I am going to buy a bunch of health and plan on taking over the second world in next day or two.

LOVING this game.

Royal. They start out with a magic spell and also a ring that regenerates MP.

It is similar Dogg. It is the same hack and slash style. It is just really tough, you go through the same areas farming souls to level up or buy equipment. Cool bosses, good dark atmosphere, not so deep class system, and a pretty darn rewarding game because it is so hard.

I think anyone a fan of hack and slash dungeon crawlers should love this game. I am not a fan of diablo and I LOVE demon souls.

You're soul level? I think it displays when you load the game.

That's one thing I don't like about the game, nothing is explained to you at all. It's nice to play a game that doesn't act like a babysitter and tell you what to do every 5 seconds, but it'd be nice to have some information, but I suppose that's what the manual is for.

I like to think of the difficulty as kind of a throwback to old school games where no matter where you die, you have to start over completely. Sure it's tough, but as others have said, it makes it that much more rewarding when you finally get past something.

I have never cursed and smiled as much while playing a game in my life. I needed a game like this to give me a break from the sports games.

Anybody know how to get help online from phantoms to help defeat a boss. The one in 2-2 and 3-2 are driving me crazy....need help. Says I'm supposed to look for blue writing I guess but never see this. I'm a soul level 40 knight and still can't defeat them...pitiful.

Are you in soul form? You can't get any help if you are in soul form.
