be quick when it says "draw" and then when the target reticle turns white pull the trigger

it seems to me that the key is being quick in drawing but you also need good timing when the target turns white

just finished the game (in a little over 40 hours)...absolutely epic, it would be difficult for me to find a better SP gaming experience than this one

Ok, the funniest thing ever just happened to me. I was just wandering around Gaptooth Ridge when I saw this guy just walking in the middle of the road. I thought he was going to ask for help or something when all he said was, "Howdy Partner". Right after he said that a cougar jumped out of the bushes and onto him and killed him instantly. I laughed so hard, it was amazing.

Also, this one time I didn't feel like being a nice guy, I saw a lady being carried away by some guy. So I shot the guy, picked up the lady and dropped her in a lake.
Ya know, one thing I never realized when someone does that where they call for help but then steal your horse: when you whistle after they take it, the horse will throw them off. It was hilarious.

Oh yeah, question. I just got my American Standardbred last night, but I can't seem to put anyone on the back of the horse. Anyone know why?

I'm sure this has been asked and explained, but during the duels how do you just do a one shot kill to the head? I can aim and pull the right trigger before the other guy has his gun up high, but I end up having to empty most of my bullets in order to get John to fire.

For duels a quick draw is the key. If you are quick on the draw then you have more time to paint your target.

Now don't just spam R1/RT/R2(or whatever you use to paint the target), its not the quickest to paint, its the quality shots that count.

Your cross hair starts out red, and then slowly shrinks to white. When its white, is when you want to press the R1 button. Aiming for the gun, hat or head will fill your blue meter up the most. A perfect shot to these parts may actually end the duel in one shot. The point is to have your meter more filled then your opponent once the slow-mo ends.

Me too. Though now that I know this I'll probably spend a lot more time hogtying them and really making them pay for daring to try to take my trusty steed.

I remember getting $3-4 dollars MORE in Armadillo on all of the wolf parts than In Theives. In bulk, when you have 50+ animals, that comes out to $400-500 more dollars in a sell transaction

Just a warning to everyone, stay away from visiting youtube for any videos. People have been posting majors game spoilers in the comments. I'm actually pretty angry about one of them.

Man, I was out in the wild when I spotted a nice dark brown horse standing on some rocks. I lasso'd it and had to balance it for 20 seconds. Then I went off and did a side quest, and when I whistled for my horse, my old beaten down horse came back. When I found my new horse and started riding off, I saw my old horse waiting there all lonely with his saddle still on. I couldn't abandon him. I jumped off the wild horse mid-gallop and re-united with my trusty steed. He may be ugly, but we've been through too much together.

Man I love this game. Anyone else feel like poker is the best part? I can't stop playing it.
