So I was walking out of Whitehall, and dragon bones fell on top of me. Funniest thing i have seen so far. Then I went to the giants out of Whitehall and saw a dragon get destroyed by them. I am never going to fight those giants... EVER!!!

Yeah I did that quest but I went and killed all of them at the end. I posted about it a few pages back. My character is no saint but I felt I had to get rid of those folks. I wish I had thought about using her as a companion though, I've been looking for a mage.

So at this stage you've killed two would me mage companions?

Well real life got int he way today..BUT I'm playing now.

Also for PC users: I was unaware that SKYRIM only uses up to 2GB of ram regardless of what you have. You can however use CFF Explorer and change the edit TESV.exe (very easy as I just did it) and change it where it will use >2GB if you have it.

Got all this from Skyrimnexus.com which I was led to by the PCGamer article HERE so props to them...

Go HERE to download the explorer and install it.

MAKE A BACKUP OF THE TESV.EXE file first!

Click the folder icon or go to File -> Open and browse your PC for TESV.exe.
                  (It's in program Files(x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/skyrim)

Click on File Header at the left, find Characteristics at the right, and click the Click here blue button.

Tick the App can handle >2GB address space.

                  Click OK.
Save by clicking the disk icon or going to 'File -> Save.

Overwrite the file when it asks you to.

NOTE: If you use this method, you need to keep the backup of the exe file you changed with CFF Explorer.
When you update your game, you will need to copy the backup exe back to folder and replace the edited exe file.

Go to the folder which has the executable file you changed.
                  Delete the current *.exe file.
Rename the backup executable back to the original name, now you can safely update/upgrade.

                    Ok my favorite "Mod" yet!!
Map mod that lets you get to "Ground Level" here's a screen of my map zoomed to the ground. You can fast move it with mouse or slow move with WASD keys. Zoom with mouse wheel.

                    1. Game crashes on save load - remove lines with uLockedObjectMapLOD and uLockedTerrainLOD

                    2. Love clouds? Aww.. Then remove line that contains sMapCloudNIF

                    Known issues

                    - No world map indoors and in towns.

Only other thing is you can use the map to "see" area you haven't been to yet in more detail. So this may or may not be a "spoiler" for you if you want to only see the areas when you actually go there the first time.

EDIT: I had to do what it says under TROUBLESHOOTING and remove the 2 lines. Game wouldn't load a save with them. No other issues as of yet

I would much prefer a flat map, more like Oblivion, the 3D map is a gigantic pain to use.

I love it. And you don't have to zoom all the way in if you don't want to.
I also don't see how it's a "pain to use"... Been pretty easy for me.

Unless you are moving along in the valleys, you have all these winding mountain paths that the map just flat out doesn't show. I'm not even that far in either the main quest line or the overall map exploration and if it wasn't for the clairvoyance spell I would have never made it to more than just a few of my destinations. The map was useless, the compass markers were useless, I was 100% dependent on the spell. That spell's only reason for existence is the uselessness of the map.

I don't use the map as a type of GPS. I use it to see the general areas etc... So it works for me. Either way it's there if people want to use it.

I'm on my way home and stuck on the train due to some delay. This thread is making the wait easy to handle. I'm off tomorrow, so I might just play 8 hours straight overnight. Every time I play, I look up and it's 4 in the morning. I've had some miserable days, but some great nights!

I'm level 19 and haven't been out of Whiterun since I got there. I've only been to two cities so far. So much to do and so many ways to do it. The game is amazing!

I like the fact that it is sometimes tough to find your way around. We are newcomers to Skyrim we should have to search a bit to find the path to take us where we need to go. If you follow the main roads there are usually paths from them leading up mountains.
