So far I've been switching between sword & board & dual wielding. I tried 2 handers for a bit but it feels too slow for my play style though its cool that you can block with it.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I agree on the two-handed weapons; it feels like I'm swinging in slow motion. Sword & board is awesome, though. The shield adds a lot to gameplay with the bash/stun mechanic and the higher level perks to block arrows/magic. My favorite style is stealth/bow, but when things get hairy, I switch to sword & board.Comment

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
1.3 is live on Steam. Since I know I can go back, I might just Guinea Pig myself and see if they fixed the resistance thing.
Edit:
Update 1.3 Notes (all platforms unless specified)
- General stability improvements
- Optimize performance for Core 2 Duo CPUs (PC)
- Fixed Radiant Story incorrectly filling certain roles
- Fixed magic resistances not calculating properly
- Fixed issue with placing books on bookshelves inside player purchased homes
- Fixed dragon animation issues with saving and loading
- Fixed Y-look input to scale correctly with framerate
Edit 2: Yeah, that's fixed. Can't check any of the others that quickly, though. Not sure if this was there before but the version number now appears in the lower left of the options menu.Last edited by bcruise; 12-07-2011, 07:32 PM.Comment

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
How many times have you died with your character? I reached level 6, almost level 7 before dying for the first time w/ my Nord, and now I've died 3x in a row as I ascend to High Hrothgar...this freaking snow troll has the one hitter quitter man.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

I find I'll go ages without dying then I'll find some random encounter that I die like 3 or 4 times at then I go back to not dying again for ages.Comment

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Yeah, for me they're called fire mages. Seriously, I'll be cruising along, thinking I'm invincible, then I'll run into a room full of these lady-boys and they'll just clean the floor with me. Ice trolls: no problem. Death Lords: no problem (okay, maybe a little problem). Fire Mages: forget it.Comment

Edit: Mages kill me too. Even with my high level and magic resistant shield I still get killed when I stir up a nest of magicians. I carry every necklace of resistance and change them per encounter.Last edited by Chizzypoof; 12-07-2011, 09:55 PM.Comment

I just lvld to 8 with my Nord. Wanted to unlock Dwarven Smithing with the perk. Although it requires a smithing of 30 and I had 31, I could not unlock Dwarven Smithing. Why is that?Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I am getting this game for Christmas based pretty much solely on the glowing reviews here. I have not really looked much into the game other than watching the trailers. Yesterday I had some free time and started to dig into reading about charterer creation.
Wow. I'm excited about the game. The free-form talent/perk/leveling has me really excited. I usually do not like playing hybrid characters, so I am debating between beginning with a warhammer swinging bad ***, fire mage, or stealth hunter. Trying to figure out a "build" for either of these characters has me really really interested. I am still unclear how all of it works, but the flexibility and amount of choices is neat. The bad *** build seems pretty straight forward. Stamina, 2-handed, heavy armor, and smithing as initial focus. But the others seem less straight forward. Obviously magika, destruction, and enchanting for the fire mage but lots of options on what to focus on next.
The previous brainstorming vomit really is just to express how pumped I am to play this game. I need to beat Arkham City, and probably replay it to so some of the side missions more streamlined, and get my fill of BF3 and Forza in the next 20 days, as I bet Skyrim completely consumes me. (we won't even begin talking about I am going to fit in SW:TOR)/bdComment

my character is level 7 and I feel like I've died at least 100 times so far. As much as I like the game I am very bad at it.Lux y VeritasComment
