    Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

So after reading all of the glowing comments about this game I finally bought it. However, it sounds like patch 1.2 is a serious problem, especially the resistances issue. I know they just said a patch is coming next week (http://www.bethblog.com/index.php/20...re-working-on/), but what would you guys recommend I do? (I can't wait that long)

Should I download the 1.2 patch and start or not download anything at all before beginning? Is the unpatched Skyrim playable?

Just play without the patch. It's amazing.

Why would so many people play so long just to find if performance worsened?

Hadn't seen that blog update, thanks for the heads up.

As I posted earlier, I was able to roll my PC version back and am having very few issues with 1.1 (far less than 1.2). Good to hear they've got another one on the fast track.

Just play it Linc. Honestly without the internet I would not have even know there was an issue at all.

Thanks for the advice guys, I'm just gonna go without the patch and then DL the new one next week when it comes out (hopefully without issues). About to play now, should be fun!

Not pertaining to Skyrim, but Linc the Sink eh?

              Favorite series of all time.

Back on topic... Was just wandering around off the beaten path... didn't hear a thing.. all of the sudden I felt a slight vibration of the controller, turn around to see a massive dragon lunging at me.

I took care of him, and watched him/chased him as his dead corpse rolled down the hill. He rolled down the path literally for at least a minute

Got this and have played it the past two days and I am amazed by this game.

Early into the game I wasn't very interested, then I got to my first dungeon and I have been hooked since. One of my favorite parts is the cutscenes for finishing off a kill. Really makes the game and makes me wanting to go on more quests and perform more of these.

My favorite so far would be when I got attacked by a pack of wolves and my guy kicked one of them up and then smashed his sword in the wolf's skull as it was on its way up from my kick.

GOTY by far. Such an excellent game.

I debated for a while with my self about getting the patch 1.2 but ultimately decided that it patches improve the game way more than they break, but people will only focus on the negative.

In all the press I saw on the patch not one article spoke bout the improvements, which were evident to me. I got the patch
and I'm glad I didn't listen to whiny gamers. It really improved the textures and the game runs a lot smoother. It's been a joy to play since the patch.

Yeah, that's how it is for me too. In the few hours that I've played post 1.2 patch I haven't encountered anything that would have screamed "OMG, the patch broke the game". I guess I'm somewhat more vulnerable to various kinds of attacks then I was before(I may not have noticed if I didn't "know" the patch had issues), but other than that, I honestly am not see what the big problem is. On the other hand, as is mentioned in the quote, I could see many improvement within 2 minutes of loading up the game post 1.2.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

                          Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Bethesda is putting out an "incremental patch" next week. PC gamers will get it first, followed by PS3 and 360 players. I'm a bit surprised that they could push a patch that quick, especially with MS's patch approval process. It's supposed to fix resistances...

Continued Game Updates – This week we released update 1.2 across all platforms, and we’ll be releasing an incremental update next week. We anticipate it will be up on PC first, and then hit PS3 and Xbox 360 later in the week. Among other things, the update will fix issues like magic resistance not calculating properly and the rare, amazing backwards flying dragon. Once the update is released, we’ll share the full release notes.
After the holidays, we’ll continue to release regular updates for the game — through full title updates, as well as incremental “gameplay updates” to fix whatever issues come up along with rebalancing portions of the game for difficulty or exploits. We plan on having a lot of these, not just a few. Overall, you should expect updates to be hitting the PC and Steam earlier and more often, as that’s a process we control. Console updates will follow, as they must be certified and processed by those manufacturers.
We all know this is a huge game, and everyone has a different experience. We’ll continue to do everything we can to make the game better and better for as many people as possible every day. We’ve also realized that with the millions upon millions of people playing Skyrim, we need to treat our updates with greater care. If we get too aggressive trying to fix a minor issue, we run a risk of breaking something larger in a game like this. To be safe, we are prioritizing code side fixes right now over data fixes. Quest and balance issues are usually data, and those will start rolling in a large way with the January updates.

So tonight I need to drop some stuff off at the Mage college, look for a treasure near riften, enchant a sword, buy a horse, and complete a companion mission.

Do you think my wife will understand when I tell her that I have a lot of **** to do tonight?
