I got John Rambo killed... it happens.

Now, if you start running out of awesome names for your replacement soldiers, then you have a problem.

Meaning that yes, you really are getting a lot of guys killed.

This is exactly how I felt. I got it last night (ps3) and refused to open it because I'll be hooked and won't go to be in a timely manner. I have way too much work to do until Friday. But, Saturday it's on!!!

Picked this up last night, was the last Copy in at my BB in Chicago, so evidently its been selling well (Go get some 2K stock, they are murdering it right now).

This will probably be my game of the year, just a great Old School take on games. Hopefully, games like this will stop the industry from going so cookie cutter and try some new things.

Who would think a turn based game would sell well on a console?

                re: XCOM: Enemy Unknown

I am just totally hooked right now. All I think about are strategies, upgrades, research, what situation to contend with.

I am using some names like:

                Corporal Hicks
                Ellen Ripley
                Snake Pliskin

Also using my buddies names, there are endless lists of names I can use!

Setting certain tints for different classes (snipers, support etc).

Run and gun is a must for the assault class.

                Non sports GOTY hands down!

I hear you. I have Borderlands 2 as well and love it. But XCOM is sucking the life out of me for now.

I still have not picked up NBA2K13. I am holding off. I picked up a brand new copy of NHL 13 for under 40 bucks on ebay with free shipping. That game is a blast post 1.04 tuner.

But XCOM is my video gaming life (along with The Show) for a while. I forsee at least 2 play throughs before I get back to Borderlands 2 and then on to Hitman and Dishonored.

And I still have Maddens patch 1.03 coming out next week to get me back on the gridiron along with NCAA 13....sheesh.

Too many games....but hey you only live once.

Yeah, I think, in two months, I've had 10+ soldiers die.

Probably a good idea to hold off until you dedicate time to it. I have been up until 1:30 every morning playing this. There is definitely a just one more mission addiction to it. I can't say enough about it.

I didn't want to, but just had to drop it down to normal from classic. Waaayyy too many guys were getting slaughtered and as you progress your rookies are just not tough enough. It's ok to have rookies with 3 or 4 vets, but all rookies you get annihilated.

I'm happy with Normal, important squad members are still dying, but just not every mission - but that's the point, I'm getting much more attached to certain crew because they are around longer.

Another change I made is to lay-off on the customization until the character proves themselves, then I will give an important name OR what's surprising is I'm just leaving them and getting attached anyway.
Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.

Dont you just love it when you take a 6 man squad with 6 rookies on a very difficult mission and you come out the other side with 6 new squadies?

                              That was awesome.

Something that ExtremeGamer said that holds true for me when playing. You gotta be/have the right mindset. Tried jumping back on last night for a quick mission and it was disastrous. I tried to just run right through the mission and it was a lesson learned.

Can't wait to leave work in a couple hours to jump back in. Gonna grab a cold one and since i now have a better understanding of what i should be doing i plan on restarting from scratch.
