Yesterday i was stuck in some place that had a bunch pirates in it & i kept dying. Then when i was searching the option menu i found that you can set your companions to active from defense only. Holy crap that made a difference. This whole time i thought i had to manage everything they did, now they actually help on their own. I know, i'm slow... haha

Lists all the version bonuses.
Also good site for ME as far as maps for each planet...unless you enjoy driving the mako around for hours aimlessly looking for things.
Finished up my, hopefully, last play through of ME1. ME1 meanders a bit too much for me. Yeah, you can skip side missions if you want (which is pretty much 75% of the content), but it impacts later games to a degree.
There are some aspects in ME1 that were OK, but overall I thought ME3 did almost everything perfectly. ME2 neutered the inventory system and I felt like they dumbed it down entirely too much. ME3 brings backs upgrades and a better assortment of weapons, while not bogging the player down with needless inventory management. Brilliant. I also couldn't stand planet scanning in ME2, which they cleaned up tremendously in 3, however, they ruined it by adding that dumb Reaper counter...so stupid. That's really my only complaint from 3. I must be one of the few people that enjoyed it from start to finish (yep including the ending). Really looking forward to the last DLC for ME3, sounds like it'll be good.
This is my first play through on ME1 (PS3 guy). I do love it. But 2and 3 are far better games overall. I give the edge to 2 though as far as overall story and character development and doing the loyalty missions which was a ton of fun. But the scanning was meh.
I loved ME3...all of it. I did not get the angst and anger of the ending...yeah it was not amazing but far from bad. The game itself is awesome and the DLC for the expanded endings did clear some things up.
All three work well though and it is no doubt my favorite non-sports action/rpg game ever along with Skyrim and Dead Space.
Looking forward to 2 and 3 again with my new Sheppard and the choices I have made thus far.Last edited by Armor and Sword; 01-04-2013, 06:44 PM.Now Playing on PS5:

So I know I'm late playing these games, but did they ever say why they changes combat and armor from 1 to 2?

Re: Mass Effect Trilogy releasing this November on 360/PS3/PC (including ME1 on PS3)
I'm 30 hours into the original (playing for the first time), and I'm absolutely dominating enemies now. The boss fight on Noveria nearly killed me, but I later realized that I wasn't using my squad's powers enough, and I hadn't really spent enough time doing side missions to build up my team. So ... I did EVERY side mission possible!! Then I went to Vermire, and holy crap ...
SpoilerI thought I was saying goodbye to Williams. I sent her on the mission to lead the other team because she was hungry to prove herself, and I wanted Kaidan with me. And then he activated the bomb on my way to save Ashley. And even though I wanted to save Kaidan because of his superior powers ... it just felt like he should die. He set the charge, and knew what he was doing. It was going to blow regardless, and I just felt like getting Ashley was the right choice ... even though I had planned to do the opposite as I did in the comic preface to ME2. Now I'm dealing with my decision ... the grief!!! I went down to the level of the Normandy where he usually hangs out and just stared at the empty spot. This game messes with your mind like Heavy Rain at times!Comment

Re: Mass Effect Trilogy releasing this November on 360/PS3/PC (including ME1 on PS3)
I chose my first major mission on ME1, and headed to Noveria. Not going to lie ... I struggled. Massively.
SpoilerThe Lady Benezia boss fight took me the better part of 2 days!!! The fact that I made it through shows my commitment to beating the trilogy, but holy crap!!!Comment

Re: Mass Effect Trilogy releasing this November on 360/PS3/PC (including ME1 on PS3)
I'm 2/3 of the way home ... just finished Mass Effect 1 last night!
SpoilerYou learn a ton about the origins of the Reaper threat and have a great understanding for the drama in ME2. I didn't think the ending was as amazing as the 2nd though, I have to be honest. The whole structure to the suicide mission was one of the best gaming moments I've ever experienced.
Now, I'm really debating whether to play ME2 again (likely for platinum, I'm 85% there already) before I play ME3. Reasons against ... I already put 40 hours into each title. And I'm really happy with how I played ME2, from getting all the side missions, to driving the ending that I wanted. Reasons for ... I'll like it more the 2nd time with # 1 under my belt. I can pursue the platinum trophy and try out insanity. And I can sync the trilogy story ... the decisions I made while playing ME1 were different than the choices I made in the comic book prelude to ME2. Would that screw up ME3 for me, btw? If my ME1 save doesn't really make sense compared to my ME2 save?Comment

not sure if they ever said publicly, but I imagine the thought was to simplify it so the game could be more "mainstream".Comment

Luckily IMO ME3 combined the two into the best system of the three.NHL: Vegas Golden Knights
NCAAF: Ohio State
NFL: Minnesota Vikings
MLB: Chicago CubsComment

Spoilerand got the Specter Gear/weapons, along with Colossus armor, there was no need to keep anything else
ME2 was the sweet spot for me. Always run out of cash trying to upgrade guns in 3Comment

Re: Mass Effect Trilogy releasing this November on 360/PS3/PC (including ME1 on PS3)
I feel like a fool. I missed out on SO much content by not going to more systems in ME2. Even if I wasn't really resource mining, I found so many anomaly missions. At least five of 'em. One was pretty hard. Fighting TWO YMIR mechs without the benefit of multilevels they can't climb? I never used the Heavy Weapon EVER in any playthroughs. But I did there. Maybe it was cuz I'd gone to bat with Jack and Mordin who can't do crap against synthetic enemies, but what ya gonna do?Comment

Just finished ME2 (again)
Finally got the "No one left behind" achievement...I missed so much stuff the first time I played through ME1 & 2, makes me wonder what the heck I was doing.,,like, I had not idea there was so much more stuff to do at the Shadow Broker base after you finished it...that video archive is hilarious...
On to ME3!Comment

I got that trophy too ... very gratifying! My greatest fear on my second playthrough (still debating) is that I can't pull it off again.Comment
