    Re: The Witcher 3

This game is so crazy, first Witcher game and I'm really glad I decided to get this one. time played I have 3 days, 23 hours in and i'm about half way to level 13. On the main story I believe I'm on needing to go to Skellige but I'm in no hurry to do so.

Been playing on Blood and Bones difficulty and feel that's pretty good so far and definitely a challenge. One minute I'm going and doing Witcher contracts, then I decide to go do a treasure hunt, then secondary quest for a bit. Look at the map and damn there are a lot of "?" so I'm going to hit up a few of them to see what they are.

As I said before I really don't like riding the horse so i'm walking everywhere. Only thing is when I have a destination to go to I go straight to it, do't usually use roads cause I want to see what in the Wilderness...but then I wonder am I shortening the game by going directly to my location? Maybe I should take the road...plus I've come across bandits on horseback to kill. So many little decisions to make and of course so many big ones.

The quest are top notch for sure, creepy, crazy and a lot of fun. Main or secondary I'm loving them all...don't think I'm to far into the main story and I like it that way.

I've found a few nice swords that I'm using and of course getting more powerful. Killing things that gave me trouble is a little less difficult now. Got a little full of myself and saw the flying Lion and was going to try it...level 25 I noticed and again ran like hell....BTW anybody know the stats on the Griffin gear and level?

I am in love with this game. I cannot play a ton due to family requirements. So I have been playing on and off since it came out. Yesterday was the first day I started looking around at things like experience points, level, etc. I has estimate I maybe played 5 hours of the game since it has been out, and I look at see it's been like 15.

You know a game is good when you underestimate how much time you've spent in it by that much.

Either with kits or at any smith or armorer (there is a tab for repair).

This game is so good, isn't it? I'm in no hurry either. My play time is like 17 days, LOL! I'm a level 19 and just got to Skellige.

I'm using the Cat Armor, so I can't really comment on the Griffin gear. Though I will say as a PSA, don't upgrade your Witcher gear until you reach the level. Otherwise you'll end up naked and have to equip something else until you reach the requirements.

My general play style is to use the horse exclusively in areas like Velen/Skellige/White Orchard, but to walk when I'm in cities like Oxenfurt and Novigrad. I very rarely fast travel, except when my mission is way across the map.

I usually don't follow the roads either. But I do make sure to head there in directions I don't think I've been in yet. I've found some cool caves and castles and lighthouses that way. Also stumbled upon some quests that weren't even marked on my map.

I haven't seen any for sale and I've only encountered one Cave troll so far during the mission with Keira Metz (wandering in the dark I believe). I was way under powered at the time so I had to run lol. I'm not sure what they drop when you kill them.

Ran across an Earth Elemental and decided to see if I could get lucky and take him out (I'm level 12). I hit him 6 times and did nothing to his health bar, I tried to run and he hit me once and insta-killed me.

                  So much for feeling overpowered.

The one down by the military camp? I tried my luck around level 17 with that one and, even though I did a little damage, it was really just a scratch and he splattered me like an overripe melon.

I don't know what that is, but thanks for letting me know to stay away. Still level 5 over here. Closing in on 6.

The Cabaret/Carnal Sins questline - man. As soon as Carnal Sins started it struck a strong sense of urgency in me. It reminded me a little bit of the Black Dahlia string of cases in L.A. Noire - a rush to find the killer before he strikes again and a curiosity to find out who it was.

I upgraded most of my Feline armor and weapons ventured back into Velen to clean up some Witcher contracts, specifically The Byway Murders, and to clear up map items I had previously ran from. It feels really nice to return to an area and completely mop it up.

Man do I feel stupid right now. So I finally get to Skellige, first thing I want to do is finish old low level quests that led there, so first one leads to one of the smaller islands. No problem, I'll just hop in a boat and sail there. It takes FOREVER, all the time I'm bitching to myself how stupid and boring this is. I mean, come on, give us a faster boat or something. I finally get there, do that part of the quest, it leads back to Novigrad and completes. I pick the next low level quest I had that lead to Skellige, look where it is and that's when I notice that the islands are already able to be fast traveled to, you don't need to spend 45 minutes slowly sailing there. D'oh!

I finally went to Skellige too last night, but didn't really do much. I was planning on going there a really long time ago, but I really wanted to tie up the main character lines in Novigrad. Things just kept popping up. (Spoiler just to be safe, no specific info)
                                Spoiler

Skellige honestly feels like it's going to be an entire new game. In the very small section I traveled, the scenery and change in elevation made for a nice change of pace. I can't believe there's basically another Velen-sized map to explore. I figured this section would be a lot smaller. And from the first set of ?'s that were sprinkled on the map, looks like I'm in for a lot of sailing. What a game.
