I was so hyped for this game leading up to the release and as far as I know it's still a bit of a mystery what happened - but there was a flood at the studio or something that wiped out a ton of progress to which extent is still unknown.
All I know is that pre-disaster they had a build where every solar system was in motion like in real life - planets were 'spinning' and moving in 'orbits' which was so cool and one of the big things that put a big damper on it for me personally when the actual game came out and everything was so static.
As many have stated though, what an effort by the development team! I felt bad for the creator because he received SOOO MUCH backlash after release because of things like what I pointed out. I believe he may have received death threats!
So I gave the game an honest try and mildly enjoyed it, but the letdown from expectations was too great and I shelved it. Fast-forward to now and I still haven't tried it again since launch so I think now is the time and I'm excited to dive back into it.
I'll probably cheat a little bit with youtube vids initially because I remember it being frustrating to figure out how to get a ship going etc and sometimes you get a bad draw for a home planet. I went through all that already so I don't feel the need to 'figure it out again'. But after that I look forward to seeing how the game has changed and what the experience is like now.
