One day we got caught on Lake Ontario in a storm, we were trying to get back in and we almost made it, but we didn't. All of a sudden our 2 depth finders and our loran started making all sorts of noise. Every bell and whistle on them started going off at once. About 3 seconds later it happened....right in front of us about 50 yards away a bolt of lightning hit the water. It actually fried a part in the motor but we were able to keep going and made it in.

Then about 5 years ago maybe, my dad and I were setting up some treestands before deer season and a storm came in all of a sudden. So we raced off the hill to the truck and we were strapping the 4 wheeler onto the trailer when a bolt of lightning hit about 25 yards behind me in a cornfield. It was behind me so I didn't see it, but I heard it and felt it, my dad saw it hit the ground.

I think it's out to get me or maybe get my dad, or maybe both of us. Let me tell you, lightning gets your attention when it's that close.

Yeah, almost getting hit by lightning sucks. I am much more skittish outside with lightning in the area then when I was a whippersnapper. Almost been hit too damn many times. Like hair standing up on your neck/everything goes white kind of close.

One time my wife and i were walking to our car in a parking lot, and there was a big storm rolling in. It was already flashing but not raining yet. We stopped in front of the car as we were finishing our conversation. The storm got closer as we were talking and i glanced up and noticed her hair, it was literally standing on end. I dont mean the ends were turned up. I mean a lot of hair all over her head (not all of it, but a lot) was pulled up perfectly straight, pointing at the sky. Ive never seen anything like it. I felt on my arms, etc too. (i wore a baseball cap, so didn't notice it on my head).

As soon as i saw it i said "get in the car!" Later she told me that the way i said it, she wasnt going to question it. Lol. She just ran and jumped in. She didn't even know why. She said she felt something but didn't think about lightning. She is from Washington state, and rarely experienced lightning where she grew up. She had never seen a true lightning storm until she moved here and is amazed by them to this day.

That storm hit as we were getting in the car, and we booked it home. Gotta love Texas storms.

Thats the first thing i asked. He had surge protection on his house but it failed. The only thing was it was several years old, so he didn't update it and it wasnt under warranty. He had to start over with everything that was plugged in.

When there is a ton of traffic waiting at a red light. Light turns green and EVERY car but yours makes it through before it changes again. I swear the car directly in front of you goes slow as molasses through the light on purpose.

I love when the light turns green and everyone takes their foot off the break instantly except the cars up front, then everyone has to hit the brake again and wait for everyone to actually get going. Like, if everyone just lifted off the break at the same time things would move so much quicker. But no.

I always thought that when I was a kid and my mom was driving to me to school when we were like eight cars back. I'm like: "Why is the domino effect so slow? Let's all go together instead of stretching out our chain."

When I'm at the front I try and expedite things a little bit. I look at the lights left and right of me to turn yellow so I can prep up. I kind of inch forward right before it turns green at times. I understand the dangers of cars running lights or me falsely misleading myself into my light being next, it's not like I'm pulling or anything. Just getting things started and not being on the brakes. I drive manual by the way so it's not like I'm rolling when off them brakes.

Something is better than nothing. I don't expect people to mash the accelerater as soon as the light is green. I don't do that, but plenty do. Even a big rig can move a little when they get off the brakes. The problem is people on their phone and having like a 5 second delay.

                      This.

I was at a stop and go light and the first in line. At the opposite stop and go light, the car 1st in line was didn't have any turn signal on, so, either they are going straight or turning left.

As soon as the lights turned green, I edge out to the center and the other car just sits there for 10 seconds. Finally, both driver and passenger look up and the left turn signal goes magically on.

                      Annoying.

Yeah I hate those lights so damn much. Like a mini heart attack every time. And I am the super cautious type who will wait forever for people to just get out of the way so I don't have to deal with their potential bad decisions.
