The key to a wife is to acknowledge their existence in the house every couple of hours or so. It could be jibberish, they don't care, as long as you say something to them, they are content.

Sitting down and watching a half hour show on dog grooming with the little lady buys me up to 4 to 6 hours of "MY" time in my man cave under construction. I tell her I'm gonna build a peep hole in the wall so I can see what she's up to while I'm in there.

Luckily my wife and I pretty much like what the other likes. She loves to watch NHL Hockey, Pro and College Football, and MLB. The preview for the All-Star Game came on tonight and I said, "Oh we got to watch that next week to see if the NL finally wins." She immediately goes, "What has it been like 13 years since they won?" When your woman can throw out random statistics like that, you know you have a keeper.

My wife does some things that I shake my head to but I am in fact positive that I do the same. We are different and our nonessential priorities are not always the same. That can cause tension at times, especially when it has been a tough day and we are both tired. Little things like not picking up your shoes can become big things.

The key is building a relationship where you can confide in each other and be entirely comfortable with sharing what's on your mind but knowing when not to push and pull. but, that's where love covers things. I'm at the place in my marriage that our love is bigger than any quarrel. We may get into it but love is over all of it.

Here's a funny story though. Before we got married I was at my wife's parents in her room. I saw a box of unopened Nerds on her dresser. I casually went up to the box and opened them and started snacking. Her eyes turned into lasers and she singed me into a pile of dust. It's all about setting up boundaries..lol

I'm slowly deprogramming my fiance into the thinking that all women need to be tall, thin, lanky model types. And she's slowly realizing that women on tv have professional makeup artists, hairstylists, lighting, photoshop experts, lens filters, corvettes and body shappers, etc. Media has really ruined womens' self-esteem to the point where it's a billion dollar industry and in the last few years they've started targeting men: six-pack abs, fake tans, penis enlargement pills, the whole metro-sexual wave a couple years back, etc and it's not right. People are beautiful for who they are not what they look like.

If I wanted a twig I would have married a twig, but instead I went for what I like: a strong, educated woman with a Betty Page shape and hips and an a$$ that would be featured on the cover of Vibe or Source magazine.

I'll add to this list as things come up.

My wife understands basketball and that is about it; "understands" is a relative term BTW.

Just the other day we were watching some baseball, and she was asking what an RBI is. I explained it's a Run Batted In.

Her: Why do they call it that?
Me: Because the object of the game is to score runs.
Her:
Me: Once someone gets on base, the next batter is trying to score them. They hit the ball, and bat in a run...i.e. Run Batted In.
Her: Then how do they score points?
Me: At a loss I throw my hands up in the air, and patted her on the head.

If you think that is messed up, look how brainwashed they have minority women in USA. Got hispanic and black chicks dying their hair bleach blonde, wearing bright blue contact lens and completely denying their heritage. Because they been brainwashed by the media that in order to be successful & considered a sexy woman, you have to have blonde hair and blue eyes.

So you combine that with having to be tall and thin, that is a double whammy.

I went through that phase with football but now it's all good except for some of the truly intricate penalties.

Basketball on the other she despises and uses phrases like "is it over yet", "when will the season be over". She even hates the sound of the ball bouncing, lol.

It's so very true, and oddly enough, those same non-minority women are being brainwashed to have nice tanned skin. Luckily my lady is an extra-salty cracker from Boston so one less bit of brainwashing to undo on her there.

On a similar topic, I saw a Tyra Show episode the other day - nothing else on TV in the mornings - and she was doing an exposé on black female models and I found it ironic that not a one of them was curvy (not overweight, but with legit curves) nor was any of them darker than Tyra herself. Seemed like a bunch of bullchips to me.

Oh that is so true........ I see a good number of non minority women tanning 24/7, skin so dark that they are darker then me. Then you got them injecting stuff in their lips to make their lips big.

Luckily my wife can't tan, she gets sun burned easily, so is she a pale northeastern woman. About the only thing on her that will tan is her face, her arms and upper chest. Her legs can never tan, don't matter if she was out in the sun all day, they still remain creamy pale LOL.

Her sister is a tanning nut, which why now her sister skin looks like a football.
