Well my friend canceled on me for Saturday. Is it wrong I'm tempted to not tell her and just spend the day alone drinking beer and playing NCAA? LOL. I won't do that but man it is tempting. Instead it'll probably be another day of Buffy and "is that your last beer?" for me...*sigh*

The fact that you're tempted to do that isn't a good sign this early in a relationship. You need to talk to her and find out why your drinking bothers her, and go from there. It's not going to be good if you start dreading seeing her because of this.

Yeah, you need to address this...You should be able to play games and whatnot because it's what you enjoy. It shouldn't always just be Buffy or what she wants.

It was funny for me last night. My GF called me and I was talking to her, I told her the game came out and I have to show her the Horseshoe (She's a OSU fan). Right after that she asked if I was playing the game right now and I laughed and said yes...she didn't care.

Relationships are compromise, she has to give a bit too, not just you.

Hell my wife didn't bother me all day yesterday because she knew it was opening day and I was going to play NCAA 11 all day.

Yeah my wife knows when a new big time sports game (usually 2k basketball because i'm a hoops nut) comes out i am "incommunicado" and the tv is off limits. It's the same when one of her Twilight movies comes out so it goes both ways.

She called the wedding off bro. Not me and I know I will win in the courts. But it just sucks that it has to come to that. One would think someone who came from that situation growing up would want to avoid that at all costs for thier own child.

Like I said we have had a rollercoaster of a relationship. Not healthy by any means but in the end loving each other trumped all. This time thats not the case and at the end of the day the baby comes first. Just everytime I think of the fact that she will make me go through the court system to see my baby. Really makes the whole time we did spend together a joke.

I wish my only problem was my girlfriend makes me watch Buffy or my wife chews with her mouth open. Im joking though guys I know those little things that just make you shake your head. Sorry to bring this thread down with a negative post.

It was on a Sunday, or should I say football Sunday, the Packers were set to play the Vikings, one of the biggest games of the year, it also marked Brett Favre's return to Green Bay. Then around 12:30 my girlfriend walks into the living room all dressed, shoes on, and purse in toe.

Then much to my horror she says "Well, aren't you ready to go to the mall with me?"

Then I counter with "No, you never said anything about going to the mall, and the game is on today."

She responds be saying "You said Friday that you would go with me, to get some holiday shopping done"

I didn't remember saying that, but hey if she said I said it, then I must have, right?...
I tell my self I'm not going to go. Need less to say, 2-3 hours later I'm walking through the mall checking out some florescent candles. While I contemplate murder, for having missed the big game. I my as well send in my Man Card after that fiasco.

Hey guys, I ended up talking with Stefanie yesterday about this stuff. I told her I was very unhappy with the constant issue she had with drinking. I framed it as in "i'm not sure you'll be happy with me as it seems as if you want a non-drinker" instead of "I want to drink in peace woman" LOL. Anyways, she did back off and apologized, she said she just felt like (someone here called it) that I was drinking when she was around because I had to drink to have fun with her. I'm like "what???" I told her when we got together my last g/f said that and that's not the case at all. I simply like to relax on the weekends with some beers. I've always done it, it's nothing to do with "having to drink to have fun with her" or anything.

Then we moved on to the Buffy issue. I told her I felt as if she really didn't like a lot of the same things I did and it seemed disappointing because when we had gotten together initially I noticed she had an interest in Tru-Blood, Buffy, Charmed, etc so she'd be a woman who was open to some of my interests like Supernatural, X-Files, etc. and yet she had completely rejected all of my interests while I was trying to be open to hers. She said that she didn't realize it was such a big deal and she was set in her ways, like me, so she'd try to be more open.

She did criticize me a little by saying I should have said something and not let it simmer. I have been saying things about it but not in a "we need to talk" sort of way so either she just was using that as a cover (back tracking) or else she really didn't think I was as bothered as much as I was by her being controlling.

Anyways, it seems as if it will end, but then I wonder if it will just go away for a while and start coming back slowly, chipping away at me. I will say though I feel better about it. I was wondering if I was going to get the ultimatum of "if you want to be with me then you'll not drink" because if that was the case I was thinking it was over.

Yes I always tend to think the very WORST CASE scenario and I need to stop doing that. I think it's the fact that I've had a lot of bad breaks in my life so at my age I've just come to expect it. But at least now it seems as if things have gone the way that I had hoped and she just apologized and said she would try to be more understanding.

Good for you! You definitely needed to get that off your chest.

So Saturday night you are going to get wasted watching X-Files with Stephanie?

Haha, that's the plan!! All I know is I hope it's not buffy, buffy, buffy now. I told her maybe we ought to just watch stuff NEITHER of us has seen anyways. I mean there are a lot of sci-fi shows and movies out there besides the ones we've already seen. Why not experience stuff that is NEW to both of us and then the argument of Buffy vs. Supernatural goes away.

My wife got me into watching Eureka, Merlin and Haven on the Sci fi channel. And I already use to watch Ghost Hunters and Ghost Hunters International, both shows she truly enjoys.

Therefore wednesday and friday nights are our definite tv watching nights together. The rest of the week, here and there we will watch an insta stream movie on netflix. To my wife netflix insta stream is the coolest thing ever, she never had netflix before she met me LOL.

Yeah Stefanie likes it too. The problem is she seems really unwilling to watch anything she's not seen before. It's as if she has xx amount of storage modules in her head and by watching something new she will forget an old movie or tv show she liked. I honestly haven't seen anything like it before in anyone. I mean she would really rather watch a movie she's seen 5 times before that she likes than watch something she hasn't seen.

I will admit, I do watch old movies and tv shows I like. But it's almost always secondary to watching new stuff. Like my typical Saturday watching schedule would be 2 new movies, 4 or 5 new tv shows and then maybe at some point an old Seinfeld or something. Hers is 2 movies she's seen and 6 tv shows she's seen and she's just fine with that. I think I would go crazy. In fact I know it.

Maybe I need to listen to some of these dating gurus that say men need to take charge and just say "this is what we're doing" and then just do it. I know one night, after a marathon Buffy session, I said I wanted to watch The Crow and she didn't want to. I got up and put it in and turned it on. She got annoyed but watched it anyways.

I really don't get why this is an issue because I'm pretty open minded about watching whatever. I guess maybe I was too open minded early on in the relationship and she just thought she could pretty much run the show instead of it being 50/50.

Yeah just put it in what you want to see and say we watching this tonight. She will either roll with it or won't. I find it is works well when it is a new dvd or blu-ray you bought. Curiousity will get to them and they will want to check it out.
