You don't have to be a total dick or anything, just don't take one for the team all the time. Otherwise you'll end up like you just were, all annoyed having it build inside you for a week.

You just have to reach a happy medium with her, don't give in to everything she wants, mix in your stuff too.

Right on man, that's what I'm planning to try to find, some balance. If nothing else we will go to "you pick, I pick, you pick, I pick" system. Then we'll each suffer equally. Kind of like marriage huh? LOL

Relationships are a pain, but sometimes worth it...it's at the point they're no longer worth it, that you have to make a switch.

I'd suggest also sprinkling in some " I do my thing, You do your thing in the same space " early in the relationship. That way you keep the suffering level low.

I watched the Bachelorette while drinking wine & eating cheese/crackers/chocolate with the girlfriend while she gave me a pedicure.

I have boundaries though...I didn't go see Twilight with her.

I thought i was a bit of sensitive new age guy but i have never gone to that extreme. More power to ya if you can pull that off.

Sounds like it went well OD, you def have to stand up for yourself. Personally i think i'd rather be single then a doormat so you have to lay some ground rules at the beginning so you both know where you stand.

When it comes to alcohol there are times when i must come off as the nagger in my relationship. My wife loves to drink and there are times (usually when i'm on a hardcore diet / exercise kick) that i'm not drinking and my wife will be having her 3rd of 4th glass of wine and i'll drop the old "are you really having more tonight?" type thing. This is usually only if it happens on a work night but i still think in the back of my head "stop being a nagging bitch" but i still say it anyway. I imagine women have that dilemma a lot.

So yesterday was my day to sleep in and the night before I told my wife I wanted to catch up on some sleep because I didn't sleep well the night before at all. So she comes in with Zandre for me to watch him while she showers oh and to diaper him. Apparently he had opened up his diaper and started painting the floor with his feces, something he did for me a week earlier that I handled by myself without needing to wake her up. Somehow after that she thought I'd go back to sleep when I never do after being woken up suddenly......

Hey guys, the weekend went well. Friday night she came over and took a nap while I played some NCAA 11. Then I had some beers without incident while she and I watched some scary movies. On Saturday we went to her company picnic, at which she actually drank more than me (she had a big glass of wine and I had one beer). Then after that we went to see her brother's band play and I had 3 shots of vodka and 2 beers.

On the way home I asked her did she want to try guitar hero and she said the same thing as always "maybe, but not tonight" but I went ahead when we got back, while she was changing, and setup Guitar Hero. And guess what, after like 5 minutes she was hooked and we ended up playing Guitar Hero and Rock band until like 5am. And yes I did drink a few more beers and shots of vodka without her saying anything.

Sunday we did some shopping and then watched True Blood and Entourage. Not a mention of Buffy or anything. Nor did I mention any of my shows either. We just watched newer stuff. She talked to me about how she was afraid I was going to break up with her from how I had been acting. Honestly I hadn't planned on doing that unless she was going to give me an ultimatum and/or continue to be so controlling.

So it all seems to be back on track now after our talk. Thanks to everyone who gave me suggestions on what to say and how to say it! I will simply have to speak up sooner next time and not let things simmer with me not saying anything until I'm ready to go crazy, LOL.

Now the second part of that advice....don't let her become the one who starts "simmering" without saying anything about things bugging her. It's a tricky balance as most guys learn in long term marriages.
