Re: 2012 FITNESS CHALLENGE
So yeah i've yet to step in a gym this year, been too lazy. I haven't gained any weight and may have lost a few lbs, but still disappointing as the gym is literally a 5 minute walk away.
Being sick lately doesn't help, after spring break i'm going to start going for sure as in reality a lot of my spare time during the day I just sit here doing nothing. If i start going regularly then the Summer is going to suck as I will be back in Tampa, if I buy a car I may join a gym for a few months but we'll seeLast edited by Chrisksaint; 02-27-2012, 08:38 PM.Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Re: 2012 FITNESS CHALLENGE
Make sure you really put max effort into it. First few times I tried it (With 8-count burpees) I realized I was holding back a little, and once I pushed up the intensity I could tell a difference. It should really kick your butt.Comment

I think i'm going to try a high knees tabata, as it's an exercise you can really maximize speed with. I've heard burpees is a great exercise to use the tabata method with as well.Comment

Re: 2012 FITNESS CHALLENGE
Just bought myself a Vitamix, and going to start incorporating green smoothies into my program. I made myself a shake of kale, spinach, pineapple, strawberry and mango, along with some chia seeds and agave nectar. Pretty good. Going away with wifey tomorrow for the weekend, so I'm gonna be bad diet-wise, getting back on course on Monday. I'll probably start adding some protein powder to it too.
Mental note; can't make the shakes at 10:30 like I did last night. This blender is so powerful it woke up my wife and kids who were sleeping upstairs...
For the upcoming soccer season my club has been incorporating a lot of interval training on the track/field. Here's what we did Saturday:
1 mile warm-up (~7-8min pace)
Stretching
30mins of soccer related drills
Track Work
10-20yd dashes with 20 secs rest
10-40yd dashes with 40 secs rest
8-60yd dashes with 60 secs rest
6-80yd dashes with 60 secs rest
4-100yd dashes with 100 secs rest
Stretching
15mins of core work
Even though you warm-up a little the first few sprints in the cold air will have your lungs burning a little before you adjust. We normally do 2 miles after the track/field work but we were just working on speed and not endurance that day.
I was a little sore after but I've been using a foam roller lately which has helped a little as well as some recovery supplements. But I played football on Sunday and now I could barely move without soreness.Comment

Re: 2012 FITNESS CHALLENGE
Tabata is awesome. I do it on a spinning bike and it kills me. Set the resistance for a mild uphill and get after it.Currently playing:

Re: 2012 FITNESS CHALLENGE
You bought one? I bought one, took it back without assembling. When I used my buddy's, the Into the Zone workout was pretty tough. I've used his several times, and that workout is a pretty good workout.
I decided to pick up my dumbells again, and make another run at P90x, and then P90x2. I know it works without a doubt, just need to stick w/ it past the initial 30 days. With 2 little ones at home, my time is scarce, reading through the rack it looked like after week 2 the workouts kicked up to around an hour, so in that time I can almost get through a P90x workout anyway.
Keep throwing results out there though, I know it will work if you stick with it, interesting to see what your results are (minus the pizza, lol)Twitter - WTF_OS

It's the lighter one, but man, the 3 work outs I did do, where intense. The first workout does a good job of balancing different types of workouts.
I will try something new today.Comment

Re: 2012 FITNESS CHALLENGE
Holy crap. Just completed my first tabata of high knees/jumping jacks. I fully intended for it to be just high knees every round, but after like round 3 of 8, I could hardly lift my legs. I went to jumping jacks for two rounds, then back to high knees.
I'm definitely hurting right now. This was up there with Insanity as the hardest thing i've done fitness wise. I was definitely tired when I finished, but right now (10 minutes post workout), i'm still absolutely gasping for breath. I love it.Comment
