    Re: 2013 FITNESS CHALLENGE

I finally got on it and I've lost 5 pounds over the last 9 days... Not sure how low I should get. I am thinking between 135-140,but I am not sure. I just need to get rid of this stomach.

I met up with a guy I went to High School with who trains and started training with him yesterday. He does a lot of work with the Baylor trainers. I didn't realize how out of shape I was until yesterday. I almost threw up and I wasn't even doing that much. We did a lot of stretching, some running, push-ups, ab exercises and circuits. I am a little sore today but I'm sure later on or tomorrow it will really hit me. I will see him 3 times a week, but it's $75 bucks, so not sure how long I will go. I won't to go through at least the summer so I can have an idea on what to do and at least get into some type of shape. He does different stuff, so boxing, kickboxing, weights etc will be included in the workouts.

I sure wanted to quit while working out yesterday, but I am glad I pushed through. I can't wait until Thursday.

Glucosamine and Chondroitin has a similar reputation, no one has proven it does anything, but I took it for a year and my knees/back felt noticeably better and when I finally stopped taking it all the chronic aches came back. Hopped right back on it and it's been helping me ever since.

Anybody know of any "do at home"/online videos for Yoga or Tai Chi?

I'm pretty sure I have that too. I was having left shoulder problems for a while and when I went to the doc he told me it was an inflammed nerve. I literally can't sleep unless I'm laying on my left side so I know that attributed to it. I try to make an effort to not sleep on my left shoulder but it's hard to break old habits.

What do you guys do when you have to eat fast food? We get home late a few times a week and it's too late to cook, so we eat out. Subway with turkey and cutting things like cheese a good choice? I didn't know with the bread if it's okay to eat often. Should I do 6' with chips or footlong? I don't always want to eat a grilled chicken salad when I have to eat out.

That's good. They say the most muscle is gained and calories are burned during the reps that come after you reach the point where you feel like quitting, so always push yourself to finish. It will be worth it in the end.

Got a few questions about pre-workout meals and fluids.

How much should I hydrate during the day before I work out? Problem I ran into the other day was, I had to urinate halfway through the workout, so not only was I huffin' and puffin', I almost tinkled on myself.

Also what kind of foods should I eat before I go workout?

If you're looking for energy for a workout, then you need carbs. Carbs are the energy source for the body.

Whether it be a bagel, protein shake, oatmeal or peanut butter toast. Those are all really good for boosting energy levels if eaten before a workout.

As far as hydration is concerned. There really is no recipe for maintaining hydration throughout the day, nor should you need to go to special lengths to achieve optimum hydration before a workout. Just drink the normal amount of water you normally would.

We do know that it is necessary to stay hydrated during a workout, because you don't want the body to be losing more fluids than it intakes, and a lack of hydration leads to those horrid stomach pains that I'm sure most all of us have felt at one time or another. It can also lead to vomiting as well. You might also need to adjust the amount of water you're drinking, based on the conditions you're working out in. Obviously if it's hotter, you want to drink more, because your body is going to lose that liquid faster.

Dookie, I'd suggest DDP yoga with red hot core added on as a good ab workout. The added benefit of doing it whenever from your home is just icing on the cake.
Abs are really about diet since most people store fat in their midsection.

That's the problem I run into. Peanut butter isn't really healthy, right? Should I eat some peanut butter and white bread/toast, or should I go wheat?

So here is where I am confused - I need to cut back to lose weight, but I need to have a lot of carbs before a workout to burn more fat - So at lunch should I eat more than one I have been eating so I will be fueled when I workout, or a late afternoon snack with carbs will be good enough? I dunno too much!

I've never taken fish oil pills on their own, but my multivitamins include the omega chains.
They def help with joint pain. Had knee surgery in HS after tearing my knee up playing basketball. Had a lot of knee pain for years. After being on a Fish Oil regimen it has really helped a lot of those issues subside.

I've only ran three times over the past few weeks and I'm still at 207 lbs.

I can deal with that. I want to float around 200 at all times.

I've just been so busy with work and trying to keep my social life up and enjoy myself a little more lately, even if that means getting back into gaming more. + RAW, the NBA and NHL playoffs. TV really gets me around this time of year.

I'm going to Montgomery for the 4th time Monday night and have a consult Tuesday morning with a doctor. They are going to do an EKG on me.

I really don't see anything being wrong with me, but it's just a precaution they have to take.

I'm sure this Dominos pan pizza I'm about to devour will help me keep the weight off

I'm not big on diets since they're usually viewed as a quick easy solution. Just start making better decisions little by little. Instead of that bag of chips eat an apple. Instead of something fried get it grilled. You start making decisions like that and it won't seem like a complete with 180 with your eating habits.

I know people who have dropped weight instantly from just cutting out soda and fast food.

Lost 40 lbs so far since Thxgiving =)
My drinking has gone down A LOT which I'm very thankful for
Eating every 3-4 hours most days and hitting the gym 6 hours a week has helped me as well
I'm trying to get back into the Army (did 4 years active and 3 in the guard)
Still have to lose 10-15 lbs but I feel good about it
On another note, I've started taking NO-Explode, however; it keeps giving me the jitters and my sleep hasn't been as deep as it was before.
If it helps, I went from drinking a ltr of coke from last year to maybe a monster on a wkend.
My workouts on NOEXPL has been tremendous. I try to take it less then twice a week. I also take Synthya 6 or w/e BSN calls its post powders.
