That doesn't particularly seem like a good thing to say to a moderator on this site. I don't care what you were trying to be or trying not to be. That's how it came across. Like when Adrian Peterson compared NFL players to slavery in the lockout. It was asinine when he said it and it was asinine when you said it. And playing college sports has absolutely nothing to do with anything. If I did play college sports, I wouldn't expect to receive a salary to do so. Why? Because I'll make my millions in the NFL if I'm good enough.

You've only been here three months. Slow yourself.

Since you're a moderator I'm sure you've been called for worse things, and if you cant handle what I said to you then you probably shouldn't be a moderator. Its not like I cursed you like I've seen plenty of others do on here. My point about you not playing college sports was made because you have to look at it from all perspectives.

And I didn't realize someone couldn't post their opinion if they've only been on here for a few months...

But guess what? The NCAA has plenty of money.

It's not about what you said or what I've been called before. It's about your attitude. Operation Sports is not your typical message board. We have rules in place and a code of conduct that people understand very quickly. These are in place to maintain a community that is different than anywhere else on the internet.

There are plenty of people who have only been here a few months who present their thoughts in a proper fashion, that ease themselves into discussions and that slowly become valued members of the community.

You coming in, saying things like college players are slaves, saying things like "give me a break", "you must not be intelligent enough", etc is the complete antithesis of what we want here, so you better shape up, or else the stay will be short.

Of course you are allowed to voice your opinions. While you weren't "breaking any rules", what you said could be taken as distasteful. Like I said earlier, let's just can this discussion because no one is changing anyone's opinion here.

Another issue with paying athletes is which ones do you pay? Football and Men's basketball are the revenue generators, so should they get paid while women's tennis players get nothing because they don't generate revenue? Football and basketball players already get more of a benefit, since they usually get full scholarships while baseball and soccer players only get partials.

At my school, yearly costs just for tuition and room and board are around $30,000. Adding in the travel, meal money, etc that each player gets, and they are already making more money than many college graduates will make in their first job.

Good post. We were just discussing this in the office. Where does it stop if you start paying athletes on top of their scholarship (and their small stipends)?

It would potentially open a box where the biggest, most profitable schools draw the athletes for max pay. You'd wind up with the tall trees at the biggest schools while everyone else gets the shrubs.

I abide by all your rules and your code of conduct when I post. I have never had any issues with any moderator or regular user on this site. There is nothing wrong with anything you mentioned that I said, other than people taking the "college athletes are like slaves" post to heart. I promise you I am not the first person that has ever said that. Also, its the unpopular opinion thread, or at least I thought it was, so that can be counted as my unpopular opinion.

And to be 100% honest with you, I could care less about becoming a "valued member of your community". I use this site to talk about NCAA, Madden, The Show, and 2K. That's it. I'm not looking to cause any problems, just talk about the sports video games that I love.

Like I said in one of the NCAA threads, I don't believe the players should get paid. They're getting an education (in theory). That's their payment, for an amateur sport.

The problem is the NCAA wants to enforce the amateur part of it after it has lined its own pockets with sponsorship, advertisement, merchandise and TV money.

Maybe you should stay in those sections then and do us a favor and stay away from the OS Neighborhood.

You don't have to directly break rules to send a thread down the wrong path, especially with a condescending attitude behind posts.

Scooby is probably right, let's agree to disagree and get back to business.

Then it could be said that your appearance in the OS Neighborhood is rather out of place.

If you don't care about being a valued member of the community you will not last here long. Bottom line.

That said, enough. What Chase said is right. You don't have to break rules to veer a thread off course, and that's exactly what you've done.

Let's all get back to the topic at hand.
