Re: Off-Topic
Can't believe were about to be into November!
Hallmark Christmas movies have already been airing for a few weeks, but now people can start (or continue) Christmas stuff.
I'm already planning my days off in December, hoping to take as many as I can off during Christmastime (this year is one of the good ones. Christmas is on a Saturday, so that whole week leading up to it would be great to have off).Comment

Buffalo Star 102.5fm FLIPPED over to Christmas music this morning. That means, I still can't find a PS5 and "The Annual Christmas" thread is coming!I am the lesson after the fall.Comment

Re: Off-Topic
Awkward moment when my manager messaged me something about upcoming scheduling, and the messaging system runs on a Facebook styled interface. So when they send a message, you can like/react to the message like you would a Facebook post.
By accident when trying to scroll through the message I ended up reacting using the angry reaction. Luckily I don't think they saw the reaction in time or get notified about any reactions to their posts, but that could've ended differently. Not that I was angry about it at all, it was just a generic message sent to everyone about optional stuff.Last edited by Majingir; 11-01-2021, 07:43 PM.Comment

Re: Off-Topic
Time change.
Good news, its bright earlier.
Bad news, it's dark earlier.
They always talk about stopping this, but its just talk at this point. I know up here they said they'd do it IF NY and others do it too (for obvious reasons, you don't want to be 1 hour different than major cities despite being close by and having it impact basically everything such as TV, sports, business and more).
But if they ever do it, I'm not sure which one I'd prefer, the "spring forward" time all year round or the "fall back" all year long.
Up here for instance, in June with the spring forward you have sunrise at 530am and sunset around 9pm. Fall back would be 430am sunrise......But in the winter, with fall back the sunrise would be as late as almost 8am and sunset around 445pm. Spring forward all year would have sunrise almost 9am and sunset almost 6pm.Last edited by Majingir; 11-07-2021, 09:15 AM.Comment

Re: Off-Topic
I don't want them to change it. I "complain" about the darker evenings, but it's also a staple of the time of the year for me. Right now I'm teaching a 0 period class that is literally pitch black when it starts (7:00 AM). It would be nice for those kiddos walking to school to have some light.
If we were to keep it one way though, summer time for sure.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Off-Topic
Everyone's talking about time changes and what not when Alaska has 6 months of darkness and 6 months of sunlight. Imagine living there year round, lol.Last Movie Watched: Morbius (2022).
Last TV Show Watched: MARVEL's What If?...(S3:E7).

This is not it true at all…
The most extreme northern part of Alaska goes without sun for two months but that’s it.Comment

Re: Off-Topic
I always hear that as a key justification for this. "Kids will be waiting for the bus in the dark!" Thing is, that's already happening. Honestly it's just not a simple thing, and people will be unhappy regardless of what they do. I do think it's depressing when it's dark outside at 4:30pm though.
I'm just saying it's weird. I’m a different breed, though. I take cold showers, hate hot weather. That place, Alaska, is almost certainly my element. Winter is my happy.Comment

I cannot take cold showers.
Warm? Maybe.
Not cold.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

Re: Off-Topic
I may have mentioned it in this thread, but our water heater broke for a few days and we had to wait for a replacement during last summer. I went on some really intense runs (like 3-5 mile runs averaging 6-minute mile kinds of deals) and would instantly sprint in the shower afterward.
It really helped. It sent a shock to my system, but one that it wanted being so cold. After a few minutes, I was literally numb to it. I could've been in that shower for an entire hour.
Bottom line: it's really, really hard to start in a shower like that. Ultimately though, your system adjusts. If you can start it in a situation though where it's less wanted (like coming off a massive sweat that your body keeps warming up from), you can conquer anything.
But yeah, **** cold showers otherwise.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
