I can report isopropyl alcohol absolutely hundred percent burns like a mother ******.
Like putting a hot iron on your arm to brand. I didn't even bother with peroxide after that. Any bacteria that can live thru isopropyl is a tenacious SOB. And I'm also happy to report, 20 hours in to this, zero swelling and/or pus. Just gonna continue to stay off my feet as much as possible.

One shot for the wound, one shot for you

Get yourself checked out (if you can/want to) if it gets worse. Nothing wrong with tending to your own wounds but there is a point it gets too serious. And we all know **** can go sideways no matter what, so as long as you’re good with your decisions, more power to ya.

Whats the old adage... if it burns, that means it's working. And by "working" it's burning the **** out of and killing any living cell it comes into contact with. The "slash and burn" method of DIY first aid. Probably best to use it sparingly if at all.

Yeah, I'll use it once more first thing in the morning and I hope that kills anything that isnt me.

So this poor bastard is just stuck there forever, can't escape, can't move, just stuck. I started to feel claustrophobia on behalf of the bee. Like, that would be a terrible slow death, just stuck in an enclosed spot and you can't do anything but wait endlessy for death

Again, I hate bees and I'm gonna kill him no matter what, but the idea of him being stuck in that spot made me sad. So I got a toothpick and rescued him from the crevice, and then squished him anyway.

It's like, I want him to die, just not suffer. Is that weird?
I have those bowl-like glass light fixtures underneath the ceiling lights in my bathroom. A few years ago, a spider fell through the little hole where the electric wires come through the ceiling and got stuck inside the fixture.

For like a week, I'd occasionally watch as he tried to walk up the side of the fixture only to slide back down. He'd try different sides. Sometimes he'd rest before giving it a go. I thought about removing the fixture and dumping him out, but I ended up just letting him die in the fixture. Felt kind of bad about it though.

Antiseptic/analgesic sprays are available at most pharmacies. The brand I keep in all of my go-bags is Dermoplast. It disinfects and also provides pain relief.

Consider buying New-Skin liquid bandage to mend the skin back together and encourage healing. It will likely burn, but it serves great purpose and can also lessen the chances of scarring. Once the New-Skin dries, I would apply a layer of gauze sprayed with Dermoplast and wrap that a couple of times to prevent the area from being exposed.

Apparently my presence is in high demand for the weekend of the 19th lol. My cousin wants to go to Pennhurst, an old work buddy wants to go out for drinks because her birthday is today and she can't find a day to go yet, and another friend (who has the hots for my best friend) wants to set something up for her birthday, which is the week after. Like does everyone HAVE to do something on Saturday? Why not include Friday? lol.

Just a situation I didn't expect to find myself into.

Growing up, due to my own laziness and circumstances, my oral health was, ahem, not the best. Now I'm in a position in my life where I can and want to take care of any issues that I should have taken care of in the past.

Last month I had a dentist's appointment to take care of a caries (carie?). I had beforehand intended to ask about "dental correction" options for me, so I did. And my dentist (female) shot straight, you might even say a bit too straight , dropping on me a lot of terms and descriptions etc which I appreciate, rather her be too detailed than too vague, but also I was catching strays . Basically she said something about crossbite and Class 3 something and whatever

Now, my teeth certainly aren't perfect, but I would rate myself (with all that implies rating oneself :P) as at least ok/fine. I certainly have never felt self-conscious about it, but I guess I didn't know how bad I had it

Anyways, she said that before we did anything I should see an orthodontist because I may require oral surgery (and I'm like wuuuuut?).

I say sure, I will at least check it out, no pressure, it would be an opinion to make an informed decision.

Today was my orthodontist's appointment, she was gentler but still gave it to me straight (which I appreciate of course). But I was taken aback about how she was framing it, basically as "cosmetic" surgery, "elective" surgery or even "plastic surgery" (I actually may be misremembering if she actually literally said "plastic surgery" but she must definitely said cosmetic/elective).

My reaction (internally of course) was like "woah woah woah hold on, who's taking about cosmetic surgery"? "What the heck is this"? I guess in my mind, straightening my teeth a bit (which I don't even need that much in my opinion) is about "healthcare", about my health, but I guess to them it is about aesthetics and what not? Like, we are talking about the same thing but she made it sound, in some ways, like some frivolous **** I wanted to get done. She even mentioned that I would "look better" referring to my jawline or whatever afterwards. I don't know, it felt really weird and like something that in a million years I wouldn't even consider. If my dentist had said, before we do X you might need to get "cosmetic surgery" I would had been like "no thanks"

Anyways, I got the X-rays and photos etc done for analysis/modelling/simulation and will have the results in two weeks. As I see it, it can't hurt to take a look and see what my options are. But just sitting there I was already going in my head "nope, I ain't doing no "elective" surgery to "correct" anything when I can get "treatment" or whatever and maybe get 65% there?" . Then I got home, did some research and when I saw that it could cost anything from $5,000 to $50,000 then I was like "hell no" .

                  So, ummm, yeah

My wife had gone to a dentist and oral surgeon because she has something like that. She’s got a pretty pronounced jaw, I think something about hers are flipped or opposite or something crazy. It was a possible solution to alleviate pressure and headaches.

But yeah, same deal. It was considered cosmetic and wouldn’t even be that high of a chance that it would fix anything. Dipped out and never thought about it again.

Dental insurance is ****ing trash and any real procedure you need isn’t fully paid by insurance. Had a root canal a few years back and still had to pay $1000 out of pocket. I guess the concept behind dental is the maintenance of 2 visits a year is covered so you should never have anything that gets too serious. Yeah, wish that’s how real life worked.

Insurance is just an overall racket across the board. Pay thousands in for life and when you actually need it, get fought tooth and nail over every little detail and by the end they’ll just drop you. Cool scheme.

Not that I watch lots of live tv/ads, but yesterday was the first Christmas ad I saw on tv.

Halloween is almost 2 weeks away.

September is still the earliest I've ever seen actual Christmas setups in stores (IIRC it was an Ikea), but this year is the first I can remember a store actually doing a "countdown to the countdown" type of thing where they're hyping up the days until their countdown to Christmas 3 month sale begins.

Edit-They are already airing Christmas movies on tv too.

Does anyone even care about Halloween anymore? I swear I've seen more Christmas stuff than Halloween this month.

I feel like this year I have barely seen Christmas ads yet. Very very few. Even displays in stores. Just slowly now. It's good. It's still in the 80s and 90s.

In recent years it'd be September 1 or so.

I think some stores may be getting the "meme" message of "they bring it out earlier every year!" even though logistics and warehouse space dictate things going out much earlier than you'd expect.
