Kenny: Ok Vic, I'm ready for some girl on girl action.
Vic: No Kenny, that's girl versus girl.
Kenny: What's the difference?
Vic: Well, in one, one girl wins. In the other....
Kenny: Everyone wins?!?!

Michigan is actually doing significantly worse than Sweden in deaths per 1 mil population. Actually there are 6 states doing worse than Sweden, but Michigan is the one with the closest total population as a comparison.Comment

I've got a fellow franchisee of our gym in Appleton, WI that just opened his second location (Shorewood, WI) 2 weeks before you guys got shutdown and he is beyond stressed with your local shutdown because it could potentially cost him both locations and the first one I think he's had for 10-15+ years in Appleton.Comment

What’s wrong with going outside as long as you maintain your 6 feet of distance.

Nothing, but expecting that to actually happen on a beach is probably too much to ask with the general population.Comment

Unfortunately, what many have failed to report, including our Governor, is that over 80% of our cases are in the Detroit area. SE Michigan is definitely struggling for sure, but the majority of the state is doing great, hence the frustrations of many and our peaceful protest to roll back probably the strictest of lockdown measures.Comment

Saturday will be a big test as I expect them to be packed. People in Florida are getting restless and there are a ton of cars on the road. Target was packed yesterday at 1pm.

True. And we keep making National news, especially this week.

It has been the saddest thing to witness throughout this pandemic, watching country after country, and then state after state wait until they get enough cases that isolation and social distancing can no longer stop hundreds and thousands from dying.
So, after seeing Washington, California, and New York, seeing the spread from spring break in Florida, and you can’t figure out why staying in will save thousands and toll thousands of lives.
Nope. All the brainiacs in Michigan and Ohio can see is that it’s not as bad as if we had done nothing. So they think it was all a waste.
We saw what one day of voting did in Wisconsin. Wait till we see what days of protest and blocking traffic does. ****ing morons getting people killed.
And it just makes the entire thing last longer.Comment

Technically you cannot stop on the beach, you are supposed to be moving. They are also only open for morning and evening hours, somehow they are going to close during the afternoon.

Interesting (not yet published) study from researchers led by a group at Stanford University School of Medicine that you can access here: https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1...463v1.full.pdf
For a more layperson translation, here is a Palo Alto online news article that summarizes the findings in the study: https://paloaltoonline.com/news/2020...by-coronavirus
The bottom line is through serological testing (antibody testing), based on a sample of 3,439 residents in Santa Clara County, the authors are estimating a test positivity rate between 2.5 - 4.1% as of April 4th. This is about 50-85 times higher than the reported number of cases in that area. This jives well with the notion that lots of cases are resulting in minor/no symptoms and go unnoticed or aren't problematic enough to cause people to seek treatment.
Moreover, this estimation would put the mortality rate at 0.1 - 0.2% which is more in line with the seasonal flu.
Big, if true. Part of the "getting back to normal" will be about dealing with fear. A mortality rate more in line with the flu, instead of the scary 2 - 5% numbers that people have been citing, would do a lot to ease peoples' minds.
Even if true, opening back up should still be managed carefully and smartly.
Between the progress that Gilead might be seeing in their clinical trial of remdesivir (more info is expected by the end of April) and a CFR possibly an order of magnitude less than originally thought--both of these things could be considered good things.Last edited by WaitTilNextYear; 04-18-2020, 02:46 AM.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

And there is South Korea stating that patients are testing positive again for the Corona Virus, ie reinfecting.
