    Zo,

Load up on pace at the wings. Get a big English and play em next to a fast English lad up top.

4-4-****ing 2. Lots of pressing. I’ll get the boys fit.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

I'm going to apologize for the size of this post upfront. Future posts wont be so crazy.

So the squad is all filled out. We are about to do the first game of the season. So here is everything worth noting before the season kicks off.

Staff bits first. Me and ImTellinTim are both on courses right now. Board sent Tim on one. So I asked if I could go on one. I tried to get Kobalt on one too, but they wouldn't allow three at once.

As for the squad. I went nuts guys. Signed way too many players. But the good thing about this level and the contracts, is it doesn't really matter. And its probably going to be helpful. Injuries, bad form runs, tons of games in short weeks. I can release anyone at anytime. Well, expect the loans. Because I forgot to remove the can not be terminated clauses. But I'm happy with the squad at the minute.

One of our original players signed with another team right away. He wasn't very good and would have been released anyways. I then ended up cutting three other of the originals, because after making signings they just didn't stack up and would never have played. So we only have two original players. And one is the vice-captain.

Our oldest current player(s) is 22 years old. The ages range from 17-22. Young squad, not much experience. But that is what I wanted. Because to get pace at this level you have to go young. The older players have terrible physicals. And it gives them all room to grow if they stay.

I made 19 loans. Because there is no rules against loans. So I made these first to fill out the team. Then actually ended up using the scouts to find players. Instead of scanning via searches. I also did a bunch of trial and signs before even waiting for the scout reports. Oh, and two of the loans are now in the U23s. Because they just aren't good enough now. Even more will probably end up there to be honest. And they will probably get recalled for not playing. Oh well.

Then we had 16 free transfers in. All on non-contract and only payed via appearance. A few have goal/clean-sheet bonuses. And all have sub bonuses. But these only range from $1-$8. Most make $20 an appearance. Some I had to give $30-50 to get them to sign. So not spending much money. Especially with the loans mixed in. Some of these 16 will probably never play a single game this season. And having them on the roster doesn't hurt anything.

So this is what the board gave me before I made a single signing.

And here is the media prediction before any, ANY signings. When we had SIX players!
        Spoiler

And here is the media prediction after all the signings. With a roster of 33 first team players.

        Spoiler

It will maybe be a rocky start. Dynamics is all jacked because of all the signings. Friendlies were a little rocky while I was adding players. So it might take them a handful of games to start meshing and playing well.

And as touched on previous, we are going with a standard 4-4-2. Standard mentality, flexible, work ball into box, prevent short gk distribution. That is it. Simple, clean and easy for these kids to wrap their heads around. We are also training a counter version and a control version. Which all have much more instructions. So they at least get used to those and I change to them if a situation calls for it. But we will always look to start standard.

And here is the squad. Listed by area. And then I've marked out some of our best players and the players to watch this season. Not going to show everyone. But I feel these are more than likely going to be our best performers.

        Spoiler

And to wrap up this novel, our current finances. Looking okay so far. But we haven't played any league games yet.

        Spoiler

        We sold 65 season tickets.

After getting sacked at Melbourne City I began the search looking for my next team. After about seven months I finally found a good situation managing Guangzhou Evergrande in the Chinese Super League. They are one of the bigger teams in the league, but were underachieving when I took over. Led by a record setting year from Luis Muriel, we were able to finish 3rd in the league securing a spot in the champions league.

So mid season update on Halifax United.

NoDaHusker is on a course. I also tried to send Gopher_Guy and JHedges2 on courses but the board was not having it.

I'm also on a new contract. Dropped down to $120/w from $400/w. For some reason you can't go lower than that. But that drop in wages will save the club $6,800 for the rest of the season. Almost breaking even each month now due to that.

Looking good as expected. Shocking loss in the FA Cup however.

Also converted to a 4-3-3 narrow due to not having depth at the wings and being overly stocked with strikers and central mids. Its been going well.

10 of the loans have been recalled for not playing. As expected. More will probably be recalled before too long.

Also signed four more players to replace loans. Figured its better to develop our own players. Still on the lookout for a GK though.

Lots of interest from other teams for our players. I've offered new contracts to a few to hold on to them. Giving them more per appearance. And so far they've all stayed. Some I didn't offer new contracts to and they stayed anyways. No ones left yet.

                Oh no!

I'm gutted. This kid was tearing it up for us. 5 goals, 13 assists, 6 POM and an average rating of 7.86 through 25 league appearances. He lead the team in assists and average rating.

I did offer him a new contract, but they offered him more. Twice what I could.

First youth intake is supposedly a Golden Generation.

                  You sure about that?

Hoping that GK turns out good.

Also I love working from home "sick" days. Work, LOL.

EDIT: oh crap. I have to sign a bunch of older players for tutoring now.

In the end we probably finished where we should, but I still feel a little gutted considering we were as high as 2nd at one point. The squad agrees, as they seem content with a top-half finish being our goal for 2019/20. Secretly, I think we can fight for promotion. Plan is to thin out the squad and reinvest those wages in some impact players. We'll see how that goes. Board has increased our payroll budget to $6.5m p/a, but the transfer budget is basically non-existent so it will be shifted into payroll.

How do you enjoy managing in France? I’ve only ever had leagues in MLS or England.

We were so dominant this season and staying pretty healthy definitely helped.

Right, after all this time, I've finally finished the reputation changes, as well as added locations for all US teams that I've included(including academies) meaning I'm finally going in. PSG broke my spirit in that save, and I'm ready for a brand new challenge. I will be uploading what I consider the final version of this pyramid in the other thread shortly(just finishing up LAFC's roster as of today)
