I shall go with Newcastle. Just started up a save. The dark colors make the menus look nice. It's also interesting because they haven't won the Premier League since 1927, so that would be cool to do (however unlikely it might be). Looks like they're slated for a mid-table finish this coming season.

Haven't had the relegation battle in a while.
Went with 4 in the back against Evian and beat them 5-0. So I'm safe.. for now.
Back to back clean sheets with this tactic, might have to keep it until I'm safe.Last edited by Kobalt; 12-29-2015, 05:18 AM.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
I started up with AFC Fylde in the Conference North to see if I can get them to the Football League by 2022 (their real life goal). We'll see if I last that long. I spend most of the matches doing this:
Through 8 games, I think we're in 6th or so. And 1st through 18th is separated by about 4 points.
One thing the match engine gets wrong is the number of back passes to the keeper that end up being corners. I don't care what level this is. Defenders aren't doing that in excess of 5 times a game between the two teams.Last edited by ImTellinTim; 12-29-2015, 12:36 PM.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Well, naturally I'm running with Rangers. Club is bleeding money, so I worked hard to move some contracts. Sold Nicky Law to Ipswich, David Templeton to Cardiff, and Kenny Miller (busted knee and all) to Huddersfield.
Spent $409k to bring in Scott Taggart, Lee Kilday, David Smith, Lewis Milne, and Rory McKeown (remember him doing well in my FM13 save when I poached him from Kilmarnock). All of them on nice, club friendly contracts.
Nicky Clark is a goal scoring machine with 6 goals (and to think, he was initially transfer listed as soon as the save started) as Martyn Waghorn was injured in preseason and has struggled since coming back. James Tavernier and Gedion Zelalem have four assists each and I'm currently tied with Morton for first place, only blemish a 1-0 defeat to Hibs.
So far...I'm really loving FM16.Comment

Zelalem was such a beast for me, I'm going to try to get another year on his loan if Arsenal are willing.

Aston Villa was a lot of fun last year and are an even bigger challenge this year. They do have some promising young players though. They were guaranteed to get a takeover last year and I assume will this year as well since Lerner is "willing to listen to offers" and you bleed money with the loan debt.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Season 1 is in the books. Took over QPR who's target was to reach the playoffs. The board gave me zero in budget and the payroll was already maxed out, in fact we we're over.
Decided to give my 3 at the back tactic/formation a try, Sandro and Farlin were my 2 holding MFers. Brought in Andreas Pereira to by my CAM. Also Bought Zach Clough to pair up with Charlie Austin up front.
Well as posted earlier we lost Sandro for the season a month later we lost Farlin for the season as well. Luckily we were scoring goals, 20 for Austin heading into January. And that's where the fun starts.
Austin had 6 months left on his contract and he refused to hold talks over a new contract. So i had to sell him to Spurs for £7m. That left me with a huge hole up front so I experimented with a new formation. Dropped a striker for another CAM, brought in Nick Powell on loan.
It shored up our defense and scored enough goals to lift us to the top of the table and build a decent enough gap for auto promotion(14-20 on 3rd place). Then the goals dried up and we started slip up badly. Come April the gap had shrunk to 6 points to third. It got down to 4 with 3 matches left, and we had matches vs 4th, 6th, 10th in the standings.
The goal for the next season, stay up. Gotta scour the loan markets for players to startComment
