It was good to see that they stayed together mentally when things didn't go their way. I think we needed more shots from outside of the box, especially in the first half. Its nice to see everyone being unselfish, but someone has to step and take shots regardless if they are on target or not.

I think we missed Xhaka and Santi yesterday, and both would've helped with this. Xhaka also could have started some attacks from deeper and not allow Boro to sit behind us so easily.

        I'd start Gibbs next match.

He'll surely start today against Reading. As for Saturday against Sunderland, who will surely sit deep on us, I'd be fine with Monreal starting, but Alexis in front of him on the left and Giroud up top.

            Start, and captain...

Arsenal XI vs. Reading: Martinez; Jenkinson, Holding, Gabriel, Gibbs; Maitland-Niles, Elneny; Ox-Chamberlain, Reine-Adelaide, Iwobi; Lucas.

Arsenal subs: Macey, Bola, Bielik, Sheaf, Zelalem, Willock, Giroud.

Two goals for six should help out his confidence. I love that we have someone like him to bring on and potentially impact games.

EFL Cup is the EFL Cup, but it's nice to put another win back up before heading into Saturday in which we must win. No way in hell can we give Sunderland their first win of the season, and I way in hell should we be drawing with them.

We need to have a real plan B, as they're certainly going to sit deep on us. If we could score early, that would be grand.

I would expect them to do the exact same thing as Middlesbrough. Moyes will deploy some stingy tactics so like you said scoring early would help. Sanchez should start on the left as well.

A Jenkinson sighting! That's good news for you guys having him back after such a long spell out. What on earth has happened to Debuchy? Is he being exiled from the squad in the same fashion as Schweinsteiger and Yaya Toure? Surplus to requirements?

Yeah, he was unhappy about Bellerin taking his starting spot, and he looked terrible last season in the few matches he played. I would bet he is sold in January.

I was shocked they didn't sell him this summer TBH

He's actually currently injured, I believe.

I think we had trouble selling him multiple times now due to his wages. Wages in the Premier League are high, and it's not easy to sell him to a team that is actually interested in him at this point.

If he won't take less we would have to cover some of his wages. Maybe Wenger is unwilling to do that.

I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. Perhaps he'll finally go in January now that Jenko is back, and is solid backup.

Plus, we don't need Debuchy for emergency CB depth any longer.

Gibbs and Ox come into the same league side from last week. Hopefully we have a bit more creativity this weekend.

A win against this Sunderland side is an absolute must.

Sanchez was outstanding in the first half--as was Elneny.

                                Underwhelmed with Ozil and Iwobi.

Glad we're up, but would like a bit of insurance...
