Re: The Transfer Thread
From Neil's Wikipedia page...
On 5 August 2009 Neill was in talks with Sunderland AFC over a move to the North East Club. The move could be held up because of high wages demands, as Sunderland are not prepared to offer such high wages to a player of Neill's age.YNWA

Re: The Transfer Thread
I've heard Neill linked with Sunderland, Galatasaray and even a return to West Ham throughout the window, but nothing has really seemed likely to go through.
Last i heard Fulham were keen to sign Viduka, but he said he didn't want to play in the Premier League...i'd be amazed if he retires, i'me sure he stated he wants to play in South Africa 2010 (though he hasn't been in the national team squad recently IIRC).Comment

Re: The Transfer Thread
Lucas Neill is close to signing with Everton. I figured this was a possibility after Lescott left, but then when they signed Distin and Heitinga i thought there was no need for him anymore. But things change now that Neville is out till December and Heitinga is cup-tied in Europe.

Re: The Transfer Thread
Free agent defender Sol Campbell has signed a five-year contract (he's 34...) with League Two side Notts County! For those who haven't followed, Notts County were taken over by a Middle East consortium who hired Sven-Goran Eriksson as their Director of Football or something (not as a manager) and they have a 5-year plan to get into the EPL. They are currently leading League Two after 4 matches...
He was on £40,000 a week there, which was supposedly equal to Morecambe's MONTHLY operating costs as a club!Comment

Re: The Transfer Thread
Sunderland have signed 33-year-old free agent midfielder Boudewijn "Bolo" Zenden.
Current free agent Sol Campbell has been training with Arsenal to keep his fitness up, but the Gunners have ruled out any chance of bringing him back to the club. West Brom are supposedly keen on signing him, but since he has already featured for both Portsmouth and Notts County this season, he must wait untl January before playing for another English club.
