NEW Madden 17 Tackle Battle Video

I'll reserve judgement. I personally don't like the tackle battle in this video. I don't see a tackle animation or a battle. Help me, what am I missing? Is the defensive lineman trying to strip the ball out? I don't see that animation.

Hopefully other videos and information down the road will clear this all up.

There's no new animations or actual battles, it's simply things that have been done "under the hood" in the past now have a chance for user input to "win"

So when two players come together a button prompt will take place and the user who hits the button the quickest wins the tackle battle? It's a push off like in this video?

Users can use this against the AI? I play in a no switch league.

As much as I dislike the premise of it already I do actually think the idea could end up blossoming into something good down the road I just think the implementation this year will be poor but the jury is out on that. I'd much rather see something implemented like this result in smaller wins than potential game changing ones which broken tackles can often be. The biggest issue I'll be concerned with is consistency of success. If I'm winning 5 of 6 tackle battles every game it's going to be something I hate and then on the other hand if I'm losing them every time and it keeps resulting in huge plays it's going to be annoying to an extent. But we shall see.

And I said it before but a win doesn't have to always mean a cleanly broken tackle. It could mean bulling the guy over to gain a few extra yards which is still something I'm holding out hope for this to be. Then in the future maybe they introduce contextual animations near the endzones and first downs where the offensive player wins and reaches out for a TD or first down.

It's against AI and Humans, if you play in a no switch league then you will lose every battle unless you switch and hit the button.

I didn't even think of the implications for those in no switch leagues.

I have a lot of buddies who play coach mode and no switch. They are very pissed about basically being forced to Lose every tackle battle. Especially when Rex came out and said switching to a DB to make a play on the ball gives you an advantage over letting the cpu handle it.
