Right or wrong this is the kind of thought that has to go away if we want to get pure sim.

Like it or not, tournament style play is not going away, we need to offer some sort of compromise if we want to see a pure style game and the premise of this thread offers one.

Either way, one thing I can promise is that due to the $$ that the tourney crowd brings if this game is made as either/or the sim crowd will lose out 100% of the time.

I don't think we need 2 settings. Rex Dickson has said that madden is intended to be a sim game, so it should play realistically. Other sports games like the nba 2k series are known for sim, and arcadey play is looked down in the community. I'm guessing it's the same with the show and fifa, so I think that online players somehow wanting the unrealistic, arcadey play that we currently have in madden is a myth.

I've seen complaints from online players that are the same as those of us that play offline, like elite wrs/tes dropping wide open passes, or player ratings still not translating to what goes on the field. That doesn't sound like someone that wants an arcadey experience, it sounds like someone that wants their game to play realistically, online or not.

But the bolded is not a problem for offline sim gamers. Occasionally, yes even elite WR/TE/RB, will drop catches while wide open in real life.

I know the thread title is online/offline but the discussion really is about tourney players versus offline sim players. There are ton of online players that want a pure sim.

I understand the POV...if the modes themselves have separate settings...ex. ranked rules on and ranked rules off, ...it would work for me.

But if all online competitive modes are set to tourney settings wit no CPU errors, etc.. and offline. Madden turns into a No Buy for me...to me that's not compromise. They already compromise with user control, agility, catch boost...can't "give in" to what I to believe as normal behavior from pro football players.

Yep distinction has to be made. Tourney guys and franchise guys. I play solo online franchise, and i expect to be included in the sim crowd.

Really the game should be branded and played as sim, and then be able to switch to tourney mode.

Yep, if it's an either or, the sim crowd is toast.

@gratwickfilms @DenairNYC you're preaching to the choir here, I'm a sim guy. But the reality is we are in the vast minority of gamers.

@gratwickfilms @DenairNYC gamers want skill mechanics to dictate outcomes, not random dice rolls. Perfect solution is offering unique modes

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.
