With Detroit losing to KC, we officially clinch homefield throughout the playoffs!

With a win or a Mets loss, we'll finish with the best record in baseball. Worst we can do is tie with the Mets though.

Re: The 2006 New York Yankees

Yankees will be facing the Tigers in round 1.

Tigers are struggling right now, but they still have tough pitching, and historically the Yankees haven't played that well in Comerica I think. Plus, last year the White Sox were struggling going into the playoffs, everybody wanted to play them, and then they dominated the playoffs, so it could happen. I'd probably rather play the Twins, since we always do well against them, but on the other hand Santana in a short series is always tough.

Torre said today that Randy Johnson will be making his game 3 start. Everyone cross your fingers.

Likely pitching matchups:

Game 1 - Wang vs Rogers
Game 2 - Mussina vs Verlander
Game 3 - Johnson vs Bonderman

You guys won't break a sweat. The Tigers have found a whole new way to torture their fans...and this way is almost as bad as losing 100+ games a year.

Re: The 2006 New York Yankees

Nate Robertson is pitching game 1 for the Tigers.

Verlander goes in game 2, and Rogers doesn't go until game 3.

Really wanted to face him in the Bronx.

I'm happy enough that we get to face him in any game in the playoffs. :y4:
