Re: 2007 Atlanta Braves Discussion

Need to sweep the Reds, Monday should be an easy win with Hudson pitching and a rookie pitching for the Reds. But the way the Braves play against new pitchers, the rookie will probably no hit them.

We really need about a 5-6 game win streak.

Just got home and turned on sportscenter to see that Smoltz recorded 12 strikeouts in the Braves 6-2 win. The highlights looked like Smoltz had his dominant "stuff." It's always good to see him step up his game and pitch great when the team needs a win.

That Mark Teixeira song was awesome!

Too bad the Braves play in the past 4 games has not been.

Best thing was he said his shoulder felt fine after the game.

"[It is] so much better," he said. "It's not even an issue now."

Chuck James will skip his scheduled start Tuesday night to rest a shoulder impingement and rookie Jo-Jo Reyes will be recalled from Richmond to take his place against the Cincinnati Reds.

Braves head trainer Jeff Porter described the injury as an inflamed tendon in James' shoulder. Bobby Cox said he expects James to be ready for his next start.

James said he's had this kind of problem before but it's been at the end of a minor league season. The Braves still have six weeks to play.

"It's kind of what needs to happen, especially since we're in this [pennant] race," James said. "Trying to battle through it is obviously not helping us out much."

James gave up four home runs in his last outing last Thursday against the Giants.
