Yea, I have questions about this as well. The default seems quite low. Especially big men. Anyone have a simple guideline for this?

For example personally-
Drive tendency: I look at NBA.com Drive stats, and players that drive more then 9 drives/gm, I give more then 90 drive tendency in game.

Attack the basket tendency: I look at fga/drive ratio in the same site. But not a perfect formula. Most players will have under 50 with this...

Floaters: Default is way too low. I changed a lot of players to 99 (Derozan, Isaiah), but I still barely see them do any in-game. I have a feeling perhaps I have driving layup tendency too high. For example, im thinking maybe lower Derozans 90s lay up tendency to like 70, and floaters to 99.

Would like to hear other ppls input and theories on this. (dribbling tendencies as well)

I'll try that, thanks.

Also, this is kinda unrelated to this thread, but the Pre-Rotate option this year tells your defenders whether or not to tilt the floor when a player has the ball, right? I think it was different last year.

For example, in 2K16, if I played against LeBron and set him to Yes, it would mean his defender would leave him to help on other players. In 2K17, it means that when LeBron has the ball, other defenders will tilt the floor in his direction. Do I have that right?

And how does the CPU utilize the Pre-Rotate mechanic? Do they use it at all?

In my opinion, since Drives on NBA.com are defined as starting from at least 20 feet out, and ending 10 feet or closer, it shouldn't necessarily be a barometer for the Drive tendency.

I feel like pretty much every NBA wing player will put the ball on the floor and drive if you run them off the three-point line on a kickout, so I try to keep almost everyone at at least 60-65 Drive. Then, for the players who don't really drive hard and aren't trying to get to the rim (non-scorers or high-volume jump-shooters), I give them a low Attack (somewhere below 40 or so).

There are also some players who have a weird tendency IRL to not drive very often, but when they do, they attack hard. Stephen Curry is a good example I think. I keep his Drive low so that he dances around the three-point line primarily when he wants a shot, instead of trying to get into the paint. Then I have his Attack high, so that on the off-chance that you can keep him from getting a three-pointer off, he'll attack the rim (he doesn't settle for mid-range jumpers much IRL-- either three or layup mostly).

And for the dribble moves, I just make sure that players who like to dance with the ball (Kyrie, Crawford, Curry) have a low No Driving Dribble Move tendency. That seems to be the most important of all the dribbling tendencies as far as I can tell.

Re: NBA2K17 Ratings/Tendency Explanation

Even with the major improvements to freelance, I personally find the cpu to be much more decisive and space out more properly using set plays. So I set every team to run plays at 100 and for now I'm setting every team at patient offense since my testing pre patch had all the sim stats at a crazy high pace.

NBA2K17 Ratings/Tendency Explanation

Cool thnx.

Cpl new questions now that the patch has dropped:

1. Are there hidden features that effect gameplay in updated rosters? Or is it just updated trades, faces, injuries? Asking cuz I don't wanna keep making new custom rosters from scratch but at the same time miss out on features.

2. Apparently the new updat has fixed relentless finisher badge but, is the original function of this badge to raise fg% of contested layups or raise the stamina for contact layups?

3. Do badges like (acrobat, limitless range, clutch performer) increase the tendency of these shots or just the effectiveness?

Roster edits do affect gameplay, as attributes and hotspots incide on effectiveness, tendencies on the other hand incide on recurrence.

Badges, incides on effectiveness as well (either by increasing attributes or by decreasing penalties), they do not alter/cause recurrence.

Re: NBA2K17 Ratings/Tendency Explanation

Any tidbits on lineup performance factor, bench depth and bench utilization, especially regarding in-game minutes played?
