If they were forced, then they will hear it from JVG. If they were open, then they gotta hit the long bombs. They should run screen and roll/pop with T-Mac and Yao. That was most effective when Kobe/Shaq ran it (in the little time that they did).
Well, they could have won but Ward missed some wide open 3's at the end of the game so they couldnt pull it off.

JVG needs to restructure his offense, because he isnt getting the most out of what he has. JVG runs screen and rolls but he needs to let Tmac move without the ball more, and some catch and shoot shots. Yao needs help on the boards badly cause Taylor and Juwan arent getting it, and Lue is utter garbage.

BTW D4K, JVG takes Yao out of the games for very long stretches, and puts Weatherspoon in for him. Now explain that substitution to me.

Lue is still living off the five minutes of success he had in the 2000 NBA Finals.
As a Laker fan I was so glad when he left for big $$$$ elsewhere. When you see him play night in and night out the glaring holes in his game become obvious.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

Well . . . the Rockets got served in that final 3 seconds of play. I'm surprised that the Knicks didn't go for the foul, and I'm even more surprised that Crawford put such an exclamation mark in another 4th quarter break down by the Rockets.

Great game from Yao and T-Mac. But. They lost.

They should start to remember that games are 48 minutes long and not 36. Frustrating to see them lead all the way then give it away in 1 quarter.

You know what I think it is, JVG is not playing to his stars strengths. The offense should be run through the best offensive player in the game. T-mac is amazing at creating shots for his teammates, and himself. However, from the few games that have been televised so far it seems like Van Gundy likes to run the offense through Yao and more often than not Maurice Taylor...yes you heard correct. There basic play is, get the ball in to Mo or Yao, the D collapses, and they kick it out to an open Jimmy Jackson or Charlie Ward for a three. Only problem is, this is not a 3 point shooting team! It's sad that instead of slashing, Mac is taking mid range and 3 point jumpers. Instead of attacking the basket and drawing fouls, Yao is settling for 7 foot jumpshots. Yao is 7'6" for god sakes, and should be drawing more fouls. Tmac is just explosive when he's the one creating offense, but JVG likes to run his offense inside out more often than not. When the O was ran through mac (usually off a tmac steal or rebound where he pushed the ball up himself), you could see glimpses of a much better team. One play in particular, tmac broke his man down w/ a crossover, jumped up like he was gonna nail the jumper, instead he saw Yao cut, dumped it in to him, and Yao dunked it w/ authority while getting fouled. These are the type of plays van gundy should be running. Let tmac have more freedom with the ball. It's not a bad thing, last year in orlando it was because he would create good shots for a big man, but they didnt have the talent to knock them down. Yao doesnt have that problem. The offense should really be run outside in. Let mac attack and dish, or go to the hole and draw fouls. Let Yao be dominant and draw contact, instead of taking baby jumpers 8 feet from the rim. Yes. w/ Yao and Mac we are gonna get alot of open looks from behind the arc, but it doenst mean much if we cant knock them down. It's time to start playing to our strengths, not our weaknesses.

Beautiful post, SD. I feel your pain. I love how people are screaming "OUTRAGE" over 10 games, however.

Re: *~*~*~Official Houston Rockets Thread~*~*~*

SD is right you know. Yao is just not a strong inside Shaq type player. He's a finesse Ewing type center. Mac ran the O and got all involved. Ward and Lue are not the kinds of players you play inside out with. Matter of fact the system is hampering the entire team. It's like its an outdated offense. He is playing an offense made to not score more than 80ppg. With the kind of players he has this is not working.

If JVG cant understand that they should let him know he needs to adjust what he's doing or be gone. The players they have aren't Brent Barry type shooters and strong banger PF's.

Matter of fact Yao and Mac sit out in long stretches for some odd reason. JVG has done this alot when Yao is hot especially. I dont know what he is thinking about but they need some adjustments.
