Re: NCAA 14 - OS Community + Playmakers Split Sliders

Les Miles on my roster had 'light a fire' at level 2. I saw similar progression in Memphis' "hotness" if you will (but not as extreme). Yours is higher, so that makes sense.

I went back into the roster and edited his skill tree so that he had no points in 'light a fire' and they played much better.....I couldn't move the ball on them (and I was run read-option and everything I could think of) and they moved the ball right down the field on me both drives.

If you'd like to play-test this (mine is very small sample size), please edit the coach skill tree in the roster and fire up a new dynasty and set up the same match-up. See if this makes a difference.

I think that HFA being on affects these "hotness" skills so that they work oppositely of how they are supposed to. Just a theory....

So you took miles' light fire to 0 and they played better? If I am understanding this correctly that makes all the sense in the world given the fact to play well they would almost certainly need to start off ob a hot streak, thus the user playing with a weak team having a "so called" advantage with 0 points in the light fire. If you maintain a steady style of play and play conservatively not making mistakes it plays in the weaker teams favor so long as the home team does not get hot with light fire maxed. Am I on the right track here? I may be reaching but it makes sense.

The skill itself works.....I played a game with Miles' setting at 3, and when he called a timeout all of the players were 'hot'. Note that you can switch back-and-forth between teams and see how they are doing.

However, it also seems to make the 'hotness' progression for the visiting team happen more rapidly (i.e. more volatility). For example, I could make two or three straight pass completions and the Memphis QB would be yellow. Do the same (or better) with the LSU QB and he would still be 'white'.

In the game you referenced, it sounds like you got off to a great start on both sides of the ball. I am not surprised a good chunk of your team was hot.

I have always kept an eye on this, to a degree, in my games with Vandy using this new set. I haven't played one of the elite coaches that have this skill, so I haven't seen this happen until now. I wouldn't be surprised if the 'Big Game' skill works oddly too as it also impacts 'hotness'.

Re: NCAA 14 - OS Community + Playmakers Split Sliders

So basically, what I'm reading, is that HFA on impacts the Coaching Skill Tree even further? I've never been a fan of the Skill Tree whatsoever (when did NCAA turn into an RPG?) - but if HFA is off, does it seem to lessen the effectiveness of said Skill Trees?

I have no doubt that turning off HFA would lessen this. I already noted a difference in 'hotness' progression with HFA on (I think that is partly how it works), the skill tree skills exacerbate it further and make it too crazy.

I'm going to play a bit with the editor and see if I can find anything....

So this seems to go along with your original theory in regards to HFA off playing more true to player ratings (i.e. no outside influences), yes?
