Backbreaker News Post

When you see the number 12, what do you think of? A dozen eggs? The months of a year? Well, how about my first 12 possessions in a Human vs. CPU game of Backbreaker: fumble, fumble, fumble, interception, interception, field goal, interception, interception, interception, interception, fumble and interception.

Simply put, Backbreaker has turned a sports gamer’s nightmare into a reality by failing to live up to its hype.

Very weak review.

I have a feeling this guy has bad stat lines because he's just not very good at passing. Just because you haven't learned to play the game yet doesn't make it a bad game.

Big thumbs down, dont disagree with this review at all.
As some one said above me " It does not even feel as realistic as an old NFL Blitz title.", have you played the game? Have you seen the line interactions, the wr/DB,the running, the defense? Granted there are problems, QB AI being one of them, but this review is just wrong.

Listen up people, this game has a solid core and the most realistic interactions ever (better then madden), the gameplay is solid and IMO this is the closest sim game i have seen in years (no tron jogging, warping,AI mind reading your plays,or cheating AI). The AI is iffy and there are a lack of features, but this game is a solid 7 out of 10.

Hey guys, maybe Backbreaker isnt as good as you think it is.... Every review site tends to agree the game is mediocre at best.

I enjoy it. Love the customization stuff. But the actual football part is atrocious.

The running camera angle is very unintuitive. When running towards the sideline, you can't see the inside. Which is strange because ur player looking to the inside. Why the camera doesn't rotate is quite perculiar.

I agree that this game will be more fun with friends as you marvel at the awesome hits.

The switching throwing targets is kind clunky and not intuitive either. Targets change via progressions instead of direction of the right stick.

I am shocked that this actually came out from OS. This is probably the most unprofessional review I have seen and there have been some pretty bad ones out there.

"Well, how about my first 12 possessions in a Human vs. CPU game of Backbreaker: fumble, fumble, fumble, interception, interception, field goal, interception, interception, interception, interception, fumble and interception."

The odds of this being true and not an exaggeration are slim to none. And if this is in fact true then I would sugegst that a new individual be found to provide the websites opinion on sports games.

Again, as others have mentioned, this is not a matter of score or a negative review, but just an unprofessional and misleading review.

Tap focus he will then look inside...

I believe Gameplay in that sentence doesn't represent the play of the game, but rather how it represents football.

Can't really find much else wrong with the review though, you either love it or hate it, and if you went into it expecting anything close to what you see on Sundays, you will hate it.

I completed 1/21 passes in my first game. There's nothing much misleading about the review. It unnecessarily scathing but that his opinion.

OS BackBreaker reviewer -
"I say that because the gameplay in Backbreaker is its biggest downfall by far. It does not even feel as realistic as an old NFL Blitz title."

I mean really?

its not about it deserving a high score or a bad score or what ever....but I don't know how anyone can take a review from a professional sports videogame site like OS has been viewed as, serious when one of their reviewers says something like this.....seems like someone is reaching.

but enjoy the hits I guess.
I am ok with this review, but I have a problem comparing this game to Blitz. Blitz was a notch lower to me than this game here.

Just got this game yesterday- I was on the fence after the bad reviews.
Having played it - I CANNOT BELIEVE these reviews and how critical they are. Backbreaker has problems, we all know that BUT the good far out weighs the bad!
The game is certainly not perfect but it deserves more than a 5 any day of the week. More like 7 or 7.5 if u ask me.

I completed more passes in any given game in the demo than I completed in the first 4 games of my Road to BB franchise (approximately 9/120).

You being bad at a game, doesn't make said game bad.

The consistent bad reviews make the game bad.

The 1/21 example was just to reinforce the reviewers notion that he had 12 ridiculous possessions to start off. Versus some other poster calling the review a liar.

So, is it possible to ban a reviewer for trolling?

I can see this logic if reviews are something you believe strongly in. I however don't. I base how good or bad a game is purely on how it plays.

# 19 mestevo @ 06/09/10 01:21 PM
The bad game made the reviews bad, not the reviews.

It's nice that some of you guys are able to turn that frown upside down, but it's an acquired taste, and requires you look past a lot of problems. If you don't realize that then you really can't be helped.

They're opinions, because yours are different doesn't make you right or more important.

Then a good or bad review shouldn't upset you.
