NBA 2K11 News Post

2K Sports has just posted their NBA 2K11 Developer Insight, written by Gameplay Producer Zach Timmerman, as he talks about the "Jordan Challenge" and a few other tidbits.

Quote:
"One thing that hasn’t really been mentioned in all the great coverage today, we spent a tremendous amount of time getting the Historic Bulls teams and their biggest rivals into NBA 2K11. We went out and got the rights to the actual players from each era and spent a ton of time capturing their signature shots, moves, and tendencies. So not only are we building you the perfect Michael Jordan in-game, we are also giving you some of the games great players from yesteryear such as Scottie Pippen, Larry Bird, Dominique Wilkins, and many others. With those guys in the game, it didn’t feel right without adding era specific commentary. I am sure the audio team will get into that more in a future Insight.

For now, here are the Historic Teams that will be immediately available for you to play this year:

1985-86 Chicago Bulls
1985-86 Boston Celtics
1989-90 Chicago Bulls
1989-90 Atlanta Hawks
1989-90 Cleveland Cavaliers
1989-90 Detroit Pistons
1990-91 Chicago Bulls
1990-91 Los Angeles Lakers
1991-92 Chicago Bulls
1991-92 Portland Trailblazers
1994-95 Chicago Bulls
1994-95 New York Knicks
1995-96 Chicago Bulls
1995-96 Seattle Supersonics
1996-97 Chicago Bulls
1996-97 Utah Jazz
1997-98 Chicago Bulls
1997-98 Utah Jazz"

That's just an amazing Dev Insight article! I'm getting so stoked over this game!
They seem to have fully taken advantage of the Jordan name.

Heck yeah. The historic teams are going to be awesome to use. We see Jordan's swagger in that short video, let's see how 2K handled capturing the Glove!

Hopefully not paid DLC for other historic teams, but if that's the case, I'm sure there'll be buyers. As a Laker guy, I'd want to use the 00-02 Lakers with fro Kobe and super Shaq.

I can not wait..was getting it anyway but with this news and being able to play with the Historic Teams in any mode..im very excited. One thing that will need to be done for this to truely work right and capture those moments....they are going to need to have the crowd sounds on point. Not going to do any good if they have all this and the crowd doesnt respond accordingly.

Seriously sad that the 93-94 or 94-95 Houston Rockets aren't on there, who wouldn't want to see the Bulls play them, they were the CHAMPIONS the 2 years Jordan wasn't in the league. C'mon. Houston gets looked over again, typical.

"Completing all 10 Jordan Challenges is really only the beginning. Now you’re probably asking yourself “What happens when all of them are completed?” For that, you’ll have to stay tuned for a future Developer Insight. "

Hmmmmmm.....

I can't even guess what this could be. Either way, very awesome.

This is crazy... bravo to 2K. I hope they can get even more teams. And adding teams as DLC could be an option....?

I like the list wish they had the old Phoenix Suns with Charles Barkley

# 15 King LeJon #23 @ 07/22/10 06:38 PM
Seriously, they have the 94 95 Knicks..we BEAT them, what a joke man...Houston won BACK TO BACK NBA Championships...

# 16 apManila24 @ 07/22/10 06:39 PM
This is a great list so far. They need to have the 1999-2000 Lakers and the 1993-1994 Houston Rockets. The Dream vs Shaq in their primes... that wud be ****. Hopefully the old 90's teams r wearing the short shorts.

# 17 Shakedowncapo @ 07/22/10 06:40 PM
Relax guys. We have no idea if they're currently on the phones trying to lock down the Suns and Rockets.
