Front Page Sports Football News Post

Back in 2009, Cyanide released a web based version of Front Page Sports Football, but don't be mistaken, this wasn't a remake of the Sierra Online versions many of us played in the 90's. In fact, in 2009, when we interviewed the Producer, Régis Robin, he had this to say:

Quote:
Operation Sports: First off, the question everyone is wondering, is this game related to the old Front Page Sports Football series?

Régis Robin: It is related in terms of the name and "core values". We are fans of the series and so we aimed to create a game which focused on strategy and management instead of requiring proficiency with a gamepad. When looking for a name, we discovered that the original Dynamix trademark had expired and so "Front Page Sports Football" was reborn.

With that said, Cyanide is set to bring Front Page Sports Football back again this year for PC users, before the season officially kicks off. We are trying to line up an interview, so if you have have any questions, feel free to post them here.

Read the full press release below.

The older I get and the less free time I have, the more text-sim style games really appeal to me.

This looks very promising.

Wish I could play something like this on my phone.

I guess the question is if this will be an online browser version or an actual offline version like the old game was....not a big fan of browser based games.

As a kid, I loved this game growing up! Excited to see it return. Is it a text sim based game? Or will you be able to watch live action as you could on the original? I'm hoping it's a combo of the 2 because I enjoy watching the action unfold before my eyes rather than seeing it afterwards.

Hopefully there's some more info coming soon.

If it was it wouldn't be 'for PC' specifically

I hope your right but something else I noticed on the screen shot. In bottom right hand corner of screen, it shows two flags. Typically that is functions on a web site to change the language of the text. It also says FAQ which is usually on web sites versus offline games. It could be the fact the screenshots themselves are on a web page and that would explain it.

I guess we will see soon enough

Real football starts in a month. And by the naming of this title, it seems that it will be available come the start of the NFL season. I am surprised we do not yet have a release date. You'd think they'd be pushing it a little. Not even a demo or in depth game description to be found anywhere.

Yep, they have implemented an interesting marketing strategy...in the fact they have none yet

At this point, I'd be surprised if it was released on time or even this year for that matter.

I got an e-mail that says its going to be on Steam. I Do not think that would be a web-base game.

That is great news...just curious where you got the email from? Are they providing more of these details somewhere else?

Take my money.

Is it going to have a career mode? Or just season mode? Doesn't say. I don't recall the web version having a career mode where the players age.

Yeah, looks interesting.

I really hope so, it does mention features like free agency, finances, and drafting....not sure what purpose all those would serve having if limited to a single season....unless they are just tools to make the best team just for a single year....hhmm.....I guess we'll see soon enough.
