NBA 2K16 News Post

Steph Curry had a heck of a night last night.

Not only did he score the most points in an OT effort ever (17), but he also single handedly took a playoff game over and delivered a big W for Golden State -- putting the Warriors up three games to one and certainly clinching their ticket onwards.

Quote:
"Perhaps the best way summarize Curry's performance on Monday is with this stat: Curry missed his first nine 3-pointers and later scored 17 points in overtime -- an NBA record."

Curry can catch fire like few players in the history of the game, and when he does -- it almost seems like he may actually encapsulate what it may look like to see a player with skills beyond what we typically see.

With that in mind, are Curry's attributes (especially his offensive attributes) properly captured in NBA 2K16? Do you think that Curry should be considered for something higher than a 99 overall rating?

Not at all. He's a legendary player, future HOFer and probably the best player in the league right now. But if 2K is sticking to it's policy of ratings, Curry is not in the conversation of thee best player of all time. Sorry.

I don't know if he need to be higher but 2k definitely needs to work on some things to get some players, not just Curry who are special playing the way they should because as it is Curry shoots a contested or moving 3 and will have chance of hitting one as Draymond which to me is a problem. Yes is contested yes it shouldn't go in a lot do the time but it does when Curry shoots it the same way IRL Lebron will power his way into the paint for a layup or dunk but in 2k he will lose the ball before he even gets inside the arc. And too me this a problem when guys like them don't play like them.

These threads always go the same way.

"He's not the best player ever, OMG"

"He's having the best season ever"

"But Jordan, LeBron, Shaq"

etc.

Overall discussions are just pointless. Get his ratings right, that's all.

I can't "Like" posts for some reason, so I'll just say yes, yes, a million times yes.

The number under "OVR" means nothing. The number under the different ratings that accurately portray a player's abilities is what matters.

No.
99 for Curry is unjustifiable. Curry is the best shooter ever, not the best player. 99 is Michael Jordan and no one else. The problem with Steph Curry is his unpredictability: his shots without sense, from half-court, are almost impossible to reproduct in the right way If covered by the rule to which are subject all players Nba 2K.
For Curry 2K needs to do a special "Curry shot mode" only for him

No, because if we're going by the legends scale they touted so much about before the game came out, that would make Curry the greatest of all time..

And well, no..

If this ever happens, the rating scale is broken. Many of Curry's ratings outside of shooting (Esp. Athleticism, Defense) are extremely overrated. Fixing those would make him a lesser overall already. Curry may be hyper-elite on offense, possibly the greatest at this point in his career. But does that really make up for his defense to call him the GOAT? He isn't a poor defender, but if he gets his 100+ rating, I won't be surprised.

If he gets 100+ rating i will just throw my game in recycle bin, they threw away their 'all time' scale before it was even introduced properly. If that happens somehow i want Jordan to be rated 100+ and higher than Curry tho. Jordan at least played and finished his career, Curry played 2 great seasons and they want now to make such ridiculous things to the game..LMAO

Hell no. How many all-defensive teams has he been on? 0? Okay then.

He's the greatest shooter of all-time and one of the best scorers of all-time. But his defense ain't ****, therefore you can't justify making him a 99 overall.

# 14 cthurt @ 05/10/16 02:00 PM
Only attributes I would give him a 100 rating in is 3pt shooting and possibly dribbling, but his overall rating shouldn't even be 99 in my opinion

Totally agree with everyone here!! Why do we bring these kind of subjects up? These are for new guys to the scene who don't understand the game.

# 16 Dyslexicphish @ 05/10/16 02:13 PM
No absolutely not. Curry also missed his first nine attempts from three in this game. Curry goes on these scoring droughts more often than people care to admit. It's just that he tends to step up by making impossible shots when his team needs it most. Maybe 2k needs to give him the wildcard badge idk.

# 17 tru11 @ 05/10/16 02:26 PM
he deserves the best shooting ratings.

thats about it though and should not warrant a 99 overall.

# 18 AmGroot @ 05/10/16 02:37 PM
No. Nobody should be over 99 overall and there should be more 99 overalls relative to position. Also, 2K should have 100 ratings for attributes like Madden once had in their regular mode. Examples: Curry with 100 Standing 3PT and 100 Moving 3PT, Shaq or Wilt with 100 Strength, Kareem with 100 Post Hook, etc.

# 19 XxSpiritHunterX @ 05/10/16 03:06 PM
No. Like Phreezy said, Curry's stats are already wildly overrated. Not saying he's not fast or not a good defender, but 2K shows clear favoritism off of his popularity (and others—Kyrie anyone?).

It just wouldn't make sense to have Curry be marked as one of the best players ever in 2K. It goes against real life standards since he's not exactly the best PLAYER in the league (MVP or not, imo) and goes against 2K's so-called "Hall-of-Fame" scale the same year they introduce it. Curry is the best shooter ever, but overall he is nowhere near comparable to other elite guards in NBA history like Jordan or Magic, other elite top players of all time, or even LeBron of today's NBA.

But I wouldn't be surprised. Curry, after all, is ALL the hype in the NBA. He's the face. So why would not have him OVER a 99, over some of the greatest players in NBA history? Let's not make these comparisons. He may be amazing as of these last two seasons, but that does not make him better than the players who have had amazing success in their whole careers past a few peaking years. So in 2K, don't deem him better than the players who have had amazing success in their whole careers past a few peaking years.
