I am completely not ready to be honest. I have said it before but I am thinking of just moving back to PC only after this crop of consoles end. You can build a powerful PC that will play anything out there and it is technically a console now. You can hook them up to modern TVS, can use xbox controllers, offer "apps" such hulu.

Only downside I see to the PC debate is lack of sport titles.

Re: Xbox 720

I am looking forward to the next generation, Microsoft seems to be on a roll as far as iterating and continuing to improve their console experience, no reason not to expect the same going into the next generation. Really looking forward to a more integrated Xbox Live across multiple platforms and what kind of capabilities the next version of Kinect allows for.

I'm looking forward to see what Sony comes out with to compete with the above, or if they're left copying things like achievements, motion controls, etc. The experience my PS3 provides is nearly identical to the day I got it, and that's not all that acceptable anymore IMO. I wonder if they'll even create a followup to their 'Wiimote +1' motion control scheme. I haven't sold/traded in a console since I went from my NES to Genesis, so it's feels strange realizing I wouldn't miss the Wii that hasn't been turned on in over a year and that the PS3 could be replaced with a BD player and we probably wouldn't miss it. In fact a BD player with Google TV or was able to stream Amazon VOD (Netflix is a given) would probably get more use.

I am definitely excited for the next generation, doesn't mean I will or am obligated to buy it day one.

I'm not really excited right now because there isn't any information really out there and I am fine with the 360. I hope 2014 is the earliest we see a new system because I know once they release, I'll get one.

I am the same way. The only thing I use my 360 for these days is sports gaming. However, I love sports gaming, so I don't think I can give the consoles up. I'd much rather play Battlefield 2/3 on the PC than the 360, though.

Personally I dont think this will ever happen but gives us something else to talk about to pass the time until ME3 and The Show release
I don't see a way to do this that would make even the slightest bit of sense. I think people will alienate the industry before they get on board with this. People will not risk $60 for a game to end up being crap (which happens a lot already) and then having to watch it collect dust.

As mentioned already, the devs are not innocent in this. I have played more BS/unfinished games than I have good ones. I couldn't care less if they made less money from new game sales. If they want more income, push DLC sales harder.
