yeah, i don't really disagree with anything you said. EA know how to market. and that title of 'EA Sports UFC' is enough to sell the game to many people by itself.
I think there's a couple factors to UFC 4 sales, because the sales definitely weren't due to EA putting out a superior product. The main factor I believe was the window in which the game released. It came out in May 2020.........we were a couple months into lockdown in most areas of the country. People couldn't really do much but sit inside their houses and watch TV or game. I know for a fact I bought a few games through digital download that I normally wouldn't have bought, just for the fact that I couldn't get out and look around Gamestop or my local used game store. I usually stop in like once every other week and browse around, many times buying something or another. People sitting around the house with nothing better to do likely made up for a large percentage of those initial sales.

And you also have to factor that it came out in May......May is generally a slow month for game releases. UFC 4 probably didn't have a ton of other games it was competing against as far as sales go. UFC 5 is coming out late October 2023. We are no longer in the middle of a lockdown, so there probably won't be quite as many bored, or desperate, people sitting around trying to find something to occupy themselves. And the ones who are, will have a LOT of other games to consider. October is always the month where the more highly anticipated games release in time for the holidays. Off the top of my head I don't know every single AAA game coming out but I do know Starfield and Mortal Kombat 1 just released. I know there's a new Assassins Creed on the horizon, as well as a new Call of Duty, etc. There's going to be a ton of games competing for our attention, and our money.

Another factor that likely contributed to sales was a steep drop in price very early on after release. Don't know the exact date I saw this seeing as how it's been over 3 years, but I want to say it was maybe 2 months after release when it was marked down to $29. I remember thinking "you got to be kidding, I literally just paid $60 for this!" Alot of people on the fence are willing to pull the trigger with a 50% price cut.

The clinch was one of the worst things about ufc 4. 90% of the fights in the ufc end up with people arm fighting against the cage. 3 years wait, same clinch?Pathetic. Im disappointed too.

So CAF being basically the same means we don't get 100% editing control like we did in 3? Archetypes only with stats the devs see fit again?

Very disappointed with this.

You also forgot about Spiderman 2 being released in October which seems to be a goty contender. And it only took Insomiac 5 years to make major improvements and expansions, meanwhile we have these geniuses at EA doing bare minimum effort in 3 YEARS which usually is seen in annual sport game releases. I'm even more confused than before about how the submissions work. Can someone please explain?

Is each submission just a single transition that must be denied?

From what it looked like, it depends which direction you do a transition to start a submission. For example, left and right on the joystick makes you transition in those directions, but going up or down on the stick will make you go for a submission. And then maybe once that submission is started, transitioning in different directions takes you through different stages of the submission.

What sucks is I bet one of the biggest hang ups is having to redo something as simple as the UI/UX.

If they kept stupid submission minigames, i wouldn't be buying. But i am very pumped with how they revamped the sub system. That was the seller for me. I haven't gone for a submission since Undisputed 2010. Minigames absolutely killed the ground game for me. I was 50/50 with KO and submission wins in the 1st 2 THQ games. Very excited for the new submission system.
