Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

Quick Notes as September nears the midway point:

-Chris Davis is being challenged by his own teammate for the Batting Title leg of the Triple Crown. Yelich has gotten hot and pulled his average even with Davis' at .325.

-The NL East is still insane. The top four teams remain within a series sweep of each other.

-The Marlins pitching has risen to the challenge so far, including a key winning series taking 3 of 4 from the front running Phillies to tie things at the top the division.

-The AL East might be won by a team under .500. The Blue Jays lead with a .503 winning percentage. In fact the AL Central could as well with the Twins leading and just six games over .500. Not out of the question a Wild Card could have a sub-.500 team as well. Is this insane parity or pure mediocrity?

-The Cardinals stand head-and-shoulders above the entire league with a .664 winning percentage. They've clinched already as well.

-Robert Stephenson has a 1.83 ERA to lead all of baseball. The 25-year-old continues his rapid ascent.

-Twins phenom Bryon Buxton might be the best all-around player in the game. He's a 30/30 player with a whopping 52 doubles, 7 triples, and a .955 OPS. He also plays exceptional defense.

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

I have started a project that I am really excited about but I am not sure anybody else will be. LOL

I have always played and The Nationals or The Indians in any franchise that I have done lately. Before The Nationals were in existence I would play The Dodgers. So this is where my project begins. I, like most on here, truly love baseball. But in honesty I really don't have a team that I live and breathe with. The Nationals are the closest, except for some minor league clubs and I grew up in Northern Virginia so Baltimore was really the team I followed the most. This was pre ESPN and Cable, some guys may not remember those days. So most game were enjoyed on the radio more than anything else.

So anyway, my project. I have started a new franchise with 30 team control. I have everything set to CPU control and I not controlling anything. I will monitor trades just to keep really weird things from happening. My goal is to play thru the entire season eventually playing as every single team and in every single park. I will only play one game per in game calendar day and what ever team I pick will be the team I stick with thru the current series. Once that series is over then I have to pick a new team to play for the next series. Whenever a day off occurs in a series I will just pick a random team I have not played yet to fill the empty day off schedule.

I will keep notes of things I do and do not like about each and every team and ball park as I progress and I think it will be an interesting journey. By the end of it all I hope to find a team to fall in love with and maybe just some new interests in this sport we all love so much. I don't know if anybody will be interested in the results of this but I will post and update as I travel through the world of baseball if enough people seem interested.

Thanks and see you all on the other side.

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

Just recently started my franchise curious as to what you guys do as far as playing/simming? I enjoy playing the games but at the same time I want to progress in the game (Off season, playoffs, etc)

Re: MLB 15 Franchise Progress Thread

Restarted with the new WTNY roster and simulated year one to get to the post-season. I wound up beating the Nats and the Mets and then finished off the A's in the World Series.

I normally decide to spend as much as I can in FA, but I took a different approach this year, trading nobody during year one, and deciding to grow the team from within.

My year two rotation is the same as year one:

          Kershaw
          Grienke
          Ryu
          Morrow
          Anderson

And my lineup is largely the same as well, with the addition of Kike Hernandez in the starting lineup in place of Rollins, and the FA addition of Grichuk to the LF position:

          Hernandez, SS
          Kendrick, 2B
          Gonzalez, 1B
          Puig, RF
          Turner, 3B
          Pederson, CF
          Grichuk, LF
          Grandal, C

I had an abnormally healthy year one, but have added significant organizational depth.

              St. Louis Cardinals

              ......
And then there is the BREW CREW....

The Brewers head into 2016 with a radically unpredictable future, with a Brand New Coaching Staff with the Exception of 1st and 3rd Base Coaches Ed Sedar and Shaun Robles.
Terry Francona takes over the helm in Milwaukee as the Brewers chose to Fire Ron Roenicke after going 78-84 last season.
2015 Pittsburgh Pirates Manager Clint Hurdle takes over as Milwaukee's hitting coach while former Phillies Coach Juan Samuel takes over as the Crew's Pitching coach.

The Brewers have many questions in the Pitching staff but one question is asked regarding the Position Players, with both Adam Lind and Justin Smoak not being retained. At this point, it looks like it will be a position battle between Ben Paulsen, Matt Clark, and Ike Davis with Davis leading the race undoubtedly entering Spring Training.

The Brewers Rotation will be interesting as undoubtedly Matt Moore will take the helm as the staff ace with Mike Fiers not far behind him and 2015 Standout Jimmy Nelson adding in the mix. New Acquisition Tanner Roark adds at the back end with Wily Peralta. Jim Henderson enters 2016 Spring Training as the clear favorite to be the Brewers Closer as he took those duties from Neftali Feliz last season.
Top Prospects Zach Davies and Jeff Hoffman will look to show off in the Spring as both will most likely start in AAA.

The Brewers 40 Man Roster entering Spring Training looks like this, as revealed last Sunday:

I just had to challenge twice in back to back innings. Luckily I won both times.

Capping the happy mood, the team swings a trade with the AL Central Leader Tigers for Yoenis Cespedes. OF Juan Lagares and RP Alex Torres went in the exchange. Cespedes should provide the Mets with a much needed power RH bat in the lineup, but more importantly, a run producer. Mets also call up Rafael Montero who is expected to go into the rotation. Dillon Gee will return in the long set up role.

Took 2 of 3 from the DBacks. Last game before the All Star break was a classic. Come back win with Mayberry's 2 run walk off in the bottom of the 9th.

                  Happy Cespedes Day!

Bummer development in my Dodgers franchise. Corey Seager had major injury troubles in the first half of year one, then flopped in his September call up and started year two in AA. I was hoping to get him hot and see if he could handle MLB duties in September of year two, but in the first week of the season he broke his arm and is out 2 months.

With back to back major injuries, I'm thinking he's likely going to suffer some developmentally. He hasn't had his potential dip yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did at some point this season.

Doing something different this time around. I'm going to play as the Iron Pigs, the Phillies' AAA team. I will still manage the Phillies' roster (trades, injuries etc.) but I'm play as the Pigs. Once the AAA season ends, I'll play the Phillies' September games. I signed Casey Gillaspie, a RP and another baseman. The Pigs are 7-5, two games back of the Red Wings and travel to face the Railriders. Sean O'Sullivan takes the mound to face Jaron Long.

We are 10 games into Spring Training and I have yet to figure anything out....LOL

I think our depth is the best its been since I started playing, but I haven't decided, nor have an idea, on who is going to take the battle positions. Center Field is really bugging me, as letting Jon Jay go may have been a HUGE mistake. But we'll see.

Our pitching depth is crazy! We definitely have the arms to make deals at the deadline if need be. We also have to the arms to replace anyone who decides they don't want to play here anymore.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

It's the last weekend of the season, and as it looks to shape up IRL, the Yankees are in a tight battle for the AL East crown. In my 'chise, the Yankees's 109-50 record is good for a three game lead over the Orioles who have a 106-53 record. It will only take one win for me to win the East. There's also some developing stories going on in the NL in my franchise as well. Check it out when you get a chance to see the finish to the 2015 season.

The start of the 2016 season has arrived for the Mets, but without 2 key bats in Yoenis Cespedes and Daniel Murphy. Both were let go in free agency, Murphy decided to go to Baltimore on a 3-year 19.2 million dollar deal. Cespedes made his return to Detroit on a 5-year 35.9 million dollar deal.

Mine looks very similar to yours. I too let Cespedes/Murph walk via FA, resigned Johnson and stuck Conforto in the every day OF. However, I didn't resign Clippard, and I moved Neise/Gee so they could find new life with different teams.

Was struggling in a Jay's franchise so decided to rebuild. Kept Donaldson, Tulo, Martin, Travis and Revere to build around. Traded Bautista for Avasil Garcia and Carlos Rodon. Encarnacion+ for Adams, Piscotty, Cooney. Navarro, Buehrle+ for Appel+Castro, Pillar+ to Washington in a deal for Storen/Taylor. Dickey for Crick. Dealt Hawkins, Lowe, Saunders for lesser prospects. In the offseason I signed Danny Santana, Napoli (for a bat against RHP) and Cueto.

                                Rotation:
                                Price
                                Cueto
                                Rodon
                                Stroman
                                Hutchinson

                                Bullpen:
                                Delabar
                                Loup
                                Schultz
                                Cecil
                                Sanchez
                                Storen
                                Osuna

                                C Martin, Castro
                                1B Adams
                                2B Travis, Goins
                                3B Donaldson
                                SS Tulo
                                RF Piscotty
                                LF Santana, Taylor
                                CF Revere
                                DH Garcia, Napoli

                                - Won the first game of 2016 2-1 with a 2 run homer from Adams and Price pitching 7 innings with 11 k's. Looking forward to Cueto's start next.
