Re: Official MLB The Show 16 Fantasy Draft Franchise Progress Thread

After a 15-12 slugfest against the Brewers, a game that could have been much worse (thanks John Danks) Management has decided to make a trade. John Danks SP(77), Brooks Brown RP(72) and Scott Schebler LF(67) have been traded to the Atlanta Braves (Record ). The Braves sent over two prospects. Relief Pitcher: Brandon Peterson, RHP age 24, 61ovr/Bpot and Starting Pitcher: Trevor Williams, RHP age 23, 64ovr/Bpot. This trade accomplishes two things. 1) Gets some mid-range prospects back into a system that is currently lacking and 2) Nets about 3.5 million in salary relief.

Heading into the trade, the highest potential prospect in our system was B, and there were not too many. Henry Owens 74 ovr/Bpot (now promoted into the 5th starters slot and enjoying a 2 ovr boost) was the top prospect. Jake Thompson 70/B, Clay Holmes 50/B, Brett Phillips 67/B and Kaleb Cowart 67/C are now joined by the two new pitchers adding a little more depth to the minors.

This is all for me in regards to game updates / franchise progress. I will be updating again when I return from my trip Monday evening. Keep up the posts!!

Bullpen looks great. Rotation seems pretty solid long term, short term no big 1-2 punch but should even out over the seasons. Like the offense for the most part, just seems a little lh heavy, which isn't necessarily a problem, I just prefer a little more balance in my lineups.

Yeah he's out for up to 2 more months. At 1B, I probably will want more depth because if something happened to Matt Olsen - it's ugly(ier) at the position.

I'm having a hard time wanting to trade Severino. He's been awful, but there's glimpses of a really good pitcher in there.

Longoria costs too much ($10 M) and the Giants want a lot for him, too. That's too much salary for a guy who's average vs RHP.

The Cardinals would take Ventura, Crawford, and Knebel for Arenado. Losing Ventura is slightly more palatable as I could promote Urias or Reyes and move Severino into the rotation with the call-up getting work in LR to get a look at him and give him major league experience. Plus Finnegan will be back in some weeks, which might send Chi Chi Gonzalez (he got bombed in the game after highlighting his ERA in my update LOLOLOLOL) down until Dickey falls apart.

Crawford, I'd hate to lose but he's probably wasted behind Lindor anyway. I have a decent utility type at SS I would bring up. Nothing fancy, but has high contact and decent defense.

I'll keep shopping, but at least that's something I'd pull the trigger on.

Too bad they won't swing something reasonable involving Burns. I'd throw Buxton into the fire or move Joc to CF and Gallo to LF (where he probably belongs anyway). I'm loaded at CF for young prospects. Might shop Margot around - top 50 sticker on him but with so many young CF, I can't use them all anyway.

                  Love the line-up

Encinarte, lindor at the top, Harper, Franco (BEAST), and bird you will score some runs

                  Bullpen looks good

Starters the back end might be rough, have to see which Matz shows up, Hammel will be back and forth(From using him in my cubs franchise)

I would not give up Crawford for Arenado, even thou you have Lindor at short Crawford can play second I dont remember who you have at second

Like J_Smith said somebody like Lawrie might be a nice cheap idea, I think Lawrie could be a beast if he stays healthy

Heh - this is such a young team.

It might get younger. Dickey is drawing interest from the Mariners as part of a deal for Matt Duffy.

Even if I don't go that route, I think Duffy will be a much easier deal to swing he's my target. Not as good at the plate as Arenado, but should be plenty solid.

Love Duffy! He'd be good batting 5th behind bird n harper with such high contact.

I have Panik at 2B, though Crawford has spent most of his time giving Panik days off, so you make a good point (durability and defense are not Panik's strong suits). Avery Romero (the utility SS) can play every infield position, so I think he could manage it, but I think I'm moving on from Arenado.

Lawrie is interesting. Get that defense and contact up a notch. I can see the upside.

Duffy might be a way to go as well, Getting rid of Dickey would be great especially to get you a 3rd baseman
