    2018 Oakland Athletics

    Wow! The 2018 regular season was quite a ride for the Oakland Athletics. After playing .500 baseball for the first three months of the season, the moves they made in July proved to make a significant difference as this team fought their way to an AL Wild Card spot, where they defeated the New York Yankees, 7-3. This put them in the AL Divisional round to face off against the AL Central Champion Cleveland Indians. The series will start today.

    Here is the preview for the series:

    Oakland Athletics (88-74) vs. Cleveland Indians (98-64)

    Probable Starters:
    Game 1 (CLE) - Julio Teheran (15-8, 3.38 ERA) vs. Corey Kluber (11-9, 3.12 ERA)
    Game 2 (CLE) - Jesse Hahn (13-4, 3.15 ERA) vs. Danny Salazar (11-11, 3.44 ERA)
    Game 3 (OAK) - Sonny Gray (14-11, 3.75 ERA) vs. Trevor Bauer (14-8, 3.30 ERA)

    Probable Lineups:
    Oakland vs. Cleveland
    CF Dexter Fowler (.289, 24 HRs, 76 RBIs) - LF Michael Brantley (.262, 10 HRs, 42 RBIs)
    RF David Dahl (.309, 12 HRs, 58 RBIs) - DH Jose Ramirez (.289, 27 HRs, 89 RBIs)
    SS Marcus Semien (.303, 28 HRs, 107 RBIs) - SS Francisco Lindor (.311, 33 HRs, 99 RBIs)
    LF Michael Conforto (.253, 16 HRs, 49 RBIs) - 1B Carlos Santana (.233, 23 HRs, 67 RBIs)
    1B Mark Canha (.295, 20 HRs, 79 RBIs) - 2B Jason Kipnis (.303, 12 HRs, 49 RBIs)
    DH Quentin Holdridge (.282, 16 HRs, 52 RBIs) - RF Lonnie Chisenhall (.293, 20 HRs, 72 RBIs)
    3B Jedd Gyorko (.267, 22 HRs, 72 RBIs) - 3B Mike Moustakas (.255, 17 HRs, 55 RBIs)
    C John Jaso (.298, 12 HRs, 52 RBIs) - C Fancisco Mejia (.280, 10 HRs, 46 RBIs)
    2B Jonathan Villar (.257, 12 HRs, 54 RBIs) - CF Billy Burns (.221, 6 HRs, 42 RBIs)

    It's going to be a great series (my first playoff series on MLB The Show 17)

      Re: MLB The Show 17 Franchise Discussion Thread

      Finally started my Mainers franchise. Using the most recent OSFM rosters, and Armor & Sword & Marino's sliders.

      Opening day roster:

      Lineup:
      SS Jean Segura
      RF Mitch Haniger
      2B Robinson Cano
      DH Nelson Cruz
      3B Kyle Seager
      1B Danny Valencia
      C Mike Zunino
      CF Leonys Martin
      LF Jarrod Dyson

      Bench:
      UTL Taylor Motter
      OF Guillermo Heredia
      C Carlos Ruiz

      Rotation:
      Felix Hernandez
      Hisashi Iwakuma
      James Paxton
      Drew Smyly
      Yovani Gallardo

      Bullpen:
      LR Cody Martin
      MR Jean Machi
      MR Mark Rzepczynski
      MR Evan Scribner
      MR Steve Cishek
      SU Nick Vincent
      SU Ryan Cook
      CL Edwin Diaz

      I'm using the 'play one, sim 5' method to play.

      In the season opener against Houston, Segura led the game off with a base hit and then Haniger hit a two run HR on the first pitch of his at bat. Them in the bottom of the 1st, Correa tripled, driving home Altuve who had a hit the previous at bat. No one scored until the bottom of the 6th, where a costly error by Leonys Martin led to two unearned runs being scored. Then, in the top of the 8th, Segura (who was 3 for 3 at this point) drove in Valencia on a sac fly to tie the game. After numerous high leverage moments in extras that we managed to get out of (thanks to Ryan Cook and Cody Martin), in the top of the 14th, after a Kyle Seager base hit, Danny Valencia hit a home run off Ken Giles (who they had just put in after Seager's hit) to finally break the tie. Edwin Diaz closed out the bottom half to get the save, and get Seattle to 1-0 to tart the season.

      Notable stats:
      Segura:: 3-5, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB,
      Valencia: 3-6, 2 R, 2 RBI, 1 BB
      Dyson: 3-5, 1 BB, 2 SB
      Felix Hernandez: 6 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 10 K
      Ryan Cook: 2 IP, 6 K (!)
      Cody Martin: W, 4 IP, 1 H, 5 K

        Re: MLB The Show 17 Franchise Discussion Thread

        I am in the playoffs of year 2018 (started in 2016 - have played every single game, save a handful), and I just finished my favorite game I've ever played.

        Game 5 of the NLDS against the Marlins. Pitching had been the story of the entire series, as there was a combined 17 runs between both teams in the first four matchups. The Rubber match saw Syndergaard and Cosart, a rematch from game 1 (a 3-2 Mets win). Cosart was throwing a no-hitter through 6 innings, and Syndergaard threw six innings of two hit baseball. Every pitch had me on the edge of my seat. One mistake and the game was over, I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn the whole series.

        The hero - Eric Hosmer. A move that saw Dominic Smith's future as a Met end. He was moved at the trade deadline in a package for Trevor Rosenthal. The signing drew controversy because of Smith's bright future, but with Harvey and Cespedes gone after this season the Mets went all in on Hosmer (and Jose Altuve, but he's hitless in the postseason so...).

        Having been held to two hits all night up until the ninth, NL MVP (and near triple crown winner - .327, 57 HR, 128 RBI) Yoenis Cespedes roped a double off the left center field wall and barely beat a throw by Ozuna into second base. A wild pitch moved him to third with nobody out. After Conforto popped out to shallow left field, Hosmer took a 1-0 hanging curveball over the right field fence. A sac fly would have sufficed, but believe me - it felt so much sweeter to beat the hated Marlins with a walk-off. And I feel vindicated for the signing (I was actually really torn, but ended up pulling the trigger).

        I've never hung on every pitch like I did in that game. On both sides of the ball. Incredible.

        Next up: Pirates in NLCS for a rematch of the 2016 NLCS, which the Mets won in 7 en route to a WS Championship.

          Re: MLB The Show 17 Franchise Discussion Thread

          Finally got my franchise started with the Padres... Playing on Hall of Fame with Default sliders.... It's been a fun and frustrating time. Currently sitting 0-5. Swept by the Dodgers and lost game 1 to the Giants. My pitching hasn't been bad but my hitting is just atrocious. Lost by scores of 5-2, 5-3, 4-0, 2-1, and 2-0. Can't seem to get a rhythm going at the plate. Getting a decent number of walks, just swinging at bad pitches or I can't catch up with them. So my K total is a bit high. The game against the Giants, I had 2 on in the 9th and the right fielder made a great diving catch to rob me of tying the game. I have played every game and every pitch so far. I hope we don't go 0-162... Lol. I'm going to stick with it and get better and hopefully we can hatch our first win!! Wish me luck, I'm going to definitely need it! Lol

            Re: MLB The Show 17 Franchise Discussion Thread

            I'm approaching the end of May, we are 1st in the division with a 28-17 record. Mitch Haniger was Rookie of the Month for April, and here are some notable stats/findings:

            - Kyle Seager is T-11th in AVG (.310), Mitch Haniger is 14th (.308), Robinson Cano is 24th (.292), & Jarrod Dyson is 30th (.286)

            - Cano and Seager are T-4th in HRs (11), Danny Valencia is T-12th (10), Jean Segura is T-24th (8), Nelson Cruz and Haniger are T-32nd (7)

            - Seager is 15th in RBI (28), Cano and Haniger are tied for 18th (26), and Nelson Cruz and Danny Valencia are tied for 46th (20)

            - Dyson is 3rd in SB (10), Segura is T-11th (6), Leonys Martin is T-15th (5), Hanger is T-38th (3), & Cano is T-46th (2)

            - Edwin Diaz is 2nd in saves (16)

            - Felix Hernandez is 5th in ERA (2.09)

            - James Paxton is 6th in Ks (59), Felix is 7th (58), and Drew Smyly is 14th (55), Iwakuma is 19th (49), and Gallardo is 46th (41)

            - Felix is 4th in WHIP (0.99), Kuma is 20th (1.16), Gallardo is 27th (1.21), Paxton is 32nd (1.26), and Smyly 44th, (1.38)

            - Felix leads all AL pitchers in WAR (2.1), Paxton is 8th (1.4), Kuma is 13th (1.3), Gallardo is 15th (1.2), Smyly is 18th (1.2),

            - Seager is 4th in WAR (2.4), Haniger is 17th (1.6), Cano is 21st (1.4), & Dyson is 39th (1.1)

            - Nick Vincent has pitched 9.2 inning, and has yet to give up a single run!

            - Cruz has struggled a lot, only hitting .230 and he's the only guy who has played in all 45 games so far. Other than him, everyone has been at least okay. I'm hoping he can turn it around and help us make the playoffs for the first time since 2001.

              Looks like a lot of fun....

              Cespedes with almost 60 HRs

              And Houston trades altuve

              And the Mets are good

              Very realistic....

                I signed Altuve, didn't trade for him.

                  2022 Miami Marlins Season Overview

                  Regular Season Summary: Expectations for the Fish around MLB varied depending on who you asked for the 2022 MLB Season. Those believing in the recent success of Miami felt they would make another strong campaign, while those who expected their NLDS flame-out against the Los Angeles Dodgers coming off of a World Series Championship in 2020 meant that the team may need to go through some serious re-tooling. Through the first month of April, Miami finished with a record of 14-9. A series of 3-game winning streaks allowed Miami to extend that record to a 32-19. The Marlins divisional lead continued to grow as the likes of the Braves, Mets, and Nationals all struggled. A rough 5-game losing streak in late June saw Miami's sizable lead in the NL East slip marginally, but the club was still in 1st place come the All-Star Break with a record of 54-34, a record which meant that Miami were exactly 20 games above the .500 mark.

                  Knowing that the team was playing well, the Marlins did not seek out any deadline deal options. They felt confident with what they had, and while an injury to young superstar 2B Kurt Rush meant that he would miss a few months of the season, the Marlins stayed afloat and managed to rip off multiple 4-game winning streaks. The on team that did manage to get hot and make things a little test for the Marlins come September? The New York Mets. Post-All Star Break, New York got red hot ripping off a 14 of 16 game winning stretch, and they even got as close to close the gap in the division to a mere 3 games following a sweep of Miami in late September. Luckily for Miami, they managed to hold on and clinch the NL East once again! It marked the 3rd time out of the last 4 seasons that they had managed to achieve that accomplishment. (2019, 2020, and 2022) With a record of 95-67, it meant Miami would take on the 99-63 Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLDS! Yes, the very team that knocked them out of the postseason the year prior. The New York Mets would meanwhile settle for a 90-72 record as they will square off against the Giants in the NL Wildcard Matchup.

                  2021 Miami Marlins Roster & Stats Overlook
                  Starting Pitchers:
                  #1. Felix Hernandez (35, 83 OVR) ---> 19-7, 194.1 innings, 61 BBs, 193 Ks, 2.59 ERA, 1.11 WHIP
                  #2. Lance McCullers (28, 86 OVR) ---> 9-10, 165.1 innings, 90 BBs, 219 Ks, 3.97 ERA, 1.52 WHIP
                  #3. George Nuñez (23, 86 OVR) -----> 14-7, 200.1 innings, 63 BBs, 197 Ks, 4.18 ERA, 1.25 WHIP
                  #4. Braxton Garrett (24, 87 OVR) ---> 15-7, 194 innings, 58 BBs, 156 Ks, 3.20 ERA, 1.15 WHIP
                  #5. Yohander Mendez (27, 84 OVR) -> 12-8, 184 innings, 78 BBs, 173 Ks, 3.67 ERA, 1.36 WHIP

                  Summary: The Marlins made one minor tweak to their starting rotation from last year. With Adam Conley not being retained due to contract demands, Marlins top pitching prospect George Nuñez shifted from his long relief role to become the Marlins #3 starter. At the top of the rotation, you have Miami's ace. King Felix Hernandez. Though he had an expiring deal, Miami re-signed him to a 1-year/10M deal to see how he would handle a 4th season in South Florida and man was he sensational. He may not have tallied the 200 innings like he had the previous 3 seasons and he may have walked a couple more batters and struck out a few less, but Felix has aged like fine wine. A sub 2.60 ERA? Nearly 20 wins? It's a shame he'll likely never achieve the 20-win mark in his career, coming as close as 19 and 18 with Seattle and having two 19-win seasons with Miami. Felix is still a star, and with 232 career MLB wins, nearly 3,200 MLB strikeouts, and a WAR of nearly 80 how long he wants to continue playing at this elite level is entirely up to him.

                  Let's move on though to the #2 pitcher in Miami's rotation in Lance McCullers. McCullers signed a hefty 3-year/33.9M extension with Miami this past offseason. The Florida native was set to become a free agent but opted to bring his talents back to the team that traded for him back before the 2019 MLB Season. McCullers had another struggling season as has been the common theme with him throughout his tumultuous Miami tenure. He had a losing record, least innings pitched since 2016, and while he continues to rack over 200 strikeouts every season his WHIP increased back over the 1.50 mark. The reason he got the contract he got? Pitching in the postseason. Let's see if he can be effective again this season for Miami. Behind him you have the 23-year old Venezuelan George Nuñez. Nuñez is an innings eater and he proved it surpassing the 200 mark this year. He's young, and while he hasn't had the greatest first two seasons in the pros many expect him to become a top-tier starter in the near future. Behind him you have the true Marlins ace. Felix gets his dues because of tenure and respect, but Braxton Garrett is the best pitcher on this Marlins staff. He's not going to over-whelm and dominate with strikeouts, he's not gonna chew through All-Star lineups, but Garrett has proven in his 3 seasons he is consistent and will make a great star #2 for the future. Finally, Yohander Mendez built off his campaign after he was traded to Miami mid-soeason last year and out of a #5 starter, he gave you all you could be happy with considering his cheap contract through the year 2026.

                  Bullpen:
                  LRP: Tyler Kolek (26, 80 OVR) -------> 4-1, 90 innings, 42 BBs, 85 Ks, 5.50 ERA, 1.74 WHIP
                  RHP: Pedro Baez (34, 78 OVR) -------> 6-5, 89 innings, 42 BBs, 85 Ks, 4.35 ERA, 1.51 WHIP
                  RHP: Neftali Feliz (33, 78 OVR) ------> 3-9, 102.2 innings, 39 BBs, 107 Ks, 4.82 ERA, 1.32 WHIP
                  RHP: Adam Costello (21, 74 OVR) ---> 4-2, 74.2 innings, 28 BBs, 68 Ks, 3.38 ERA, 1.35 WHIP
                  RHP: Keone Kela (28, 80 OVR) -------> 3-4, 50.1 innings, 30 BBs, 58 Ks, 4.11 ERA, 1.41 WHIP
                  LHP: Owen Savage (24, 80 OVR) -----> 4-2, 45 innings, 8 BBs, 38 Ks, 2.00 ERA, 1.04 WHIP
                  CP: Kelvin Herrera (32, 84 OVR) ------> 1-4, 46.1 innings, 14 BBs, 53 Ks, 3.30 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, 37 saves

                  Summary: Where to begin with this 2022 Marlins bullpen? In the long relief role replacing Nuñez you had former #2 overall pick from the 2015 MLB Draft, Tyler Kolek replacing him! Yes, Kolek has been a bust in the sense he'll never be an elite starter at the MLB level, and a late start at the age of 26 is also damaging but that doesn't mean he can't be successful... he just wasn't that good his rookie year. Pedro Baez has his contract expire at the end of the year and his mystic abilities from 2019 and 2020 have now dissipated. Neftali Feliz was brought in along with 3B Tommy La Stella in a deal with the Chicago Cubs that sent away 3 mid-tier prospects. Feliz wasn't bad as an innings eater, but it's doubtful he'll be back for next season. Adam Costello was a young reliever brought in via trade from the Oakland Athletics. The 21-year old is doubtful to be anything special, but Miami saw something they liked in him and he wasn't too shabby in his first full campaign. Another former Athletic in Owen Savage was the star of the Marlins bullpen this season. The only left-handed reliever available for the majority of the season, Miami surely hopes him and Costello will help transition the bullpen and keep them young moving forward. Finally you have Kelvin Herrera who completed his 3rd full season as a Miami Marlins and while it wasn't as good as his first two, the Dominican produced 37 saves and will surely be given a contract extension if he wants to stick around.

                  Lineup:
                  C: J.T. Realmuto (31, 77 OVR) -----> 135 games, 4 HRs, 55 RBIs, 4 SBs, .248 AVG, .340 OBP, .671 OPS
                  1B: Ronald Guzman (27, 84 OVR) -> 145 games, 23 HRs, 72 RBIs, 5 SBs, .265 AVG, .373 OBP, .826 OPS
                  2B: Kurt Rush (23, 91 OVR) --------> 109 games, 15 HRs, 50 RBIs, 20 SBs, .295 AVG, .376 OBP, .856 OPS
                  SS: Jean Segura (32, 80 OVR) -----> 155 games, 22 HRs, 94 RBIs, 34 SBs, .287 AVG, .335 OBP, .813 OPS
                  3B: Tommy La Stella (33, 79 OVR) -> 132 games, 14 HRs, 68 RBIs, 0 SBs, .308 AVG, .390 OBP, .853 OPS
                  LF: Yasiel Puig (31, 89 OVR) --------> 141 games, 23 HRs, 91 RBIs, 8 SBs, .300 AVG, .378 OBP, .911 OPS
                  CF: Christian Yelich (30, 92 OVR) --> 159 games, 28 HRs, 90 RBIs, 16 SBs, .285 AVG, .374 OBP, .870 OPS
                  RF: Giancarlo Stanton (31, 94 OVR) -> 151 games, 42 HRs, 104 RBIs, 13 SBs, .271 AVG, .370 OBP, .922 OPS

                  Summary: J.T. Realmuto completed his 8th season as the Miami Marlins full-time starting catcher and it was a down season for the 31-year old from Oklahoma. Realmuto signed a 2-year/9M contract in the offseason worth 4.5M per and he simply didn't his as well as he did the prior few seasons. He saw dips in HRs and RBIs(having hit 60 in 3 straight years prior) while also seeing his batting average dive back to his 2019 numbers. The good news? His on base percentage remained steady, .346 last year to .340 this year which suggests his discipline has improved. He's about 99% sure to be the main catcher again next year. At 1B, Ronald Guzman damn near replicated his numbers from 2021. He continues doing that, the Marlins will see no reason to replace him. In at 2B, you have Kurt Rush who is a rising superstar amongst MLB. The 23-year old suffered an injury that kept him out for 2 months of the season explaining the 109 games played, but when he was healthy he was fantastic. If he gets a full season next year, you're talking about a possible 8 WAR+ sort of player. As a temporary replacement, Carlos Santana who was the Marlins 3B last year but went un-signed was brought in as La Stella moved over to 2B. Who is La Stella? Tommy La Stella! Marlins 3rd baseman who they picked up via trade and was the diamond in the rough for Miami this season. The 33-year old had spent the last few seasons up and down in the minors with the Chicago Cubs. Prior to this year, he had played just 10 games since 2019. He got gifted a full-time starting opportunity and took full advantage of it. Over .300 batting average? Nearly .400 on base? His WAR of 4.7 nearly trumps all of his service time prior. Miami's scouting department and front office deserve mass amounts of praise for finding such a player who was buried on another teams depth chart.

                  In at shortstop for the 4th straight year you have Jean Segura. Segura was acquired in the blockbuster deal that brought King Felix to Miami but man, Segura has been one hell of an addition in that deal. Another 150+ games played, 20 HRs+, 30 SBs+, nearly 100 damn RBIs this year! His on base isn't outstanding and his critics will say that there are better options out there but for a budget player making around 7M per year Segura has been a tremendous addition and one that the Marlins will surely look to hold onto as his deal expires at the end of the year. In at left field, you have the Marlins most improved player this year. While La Stella may have been the hidden gem, you finally got the bolstered best outfield in baseball you had been garnering for when you signed the Cuban Yasiel Puig to a 3-year/45M deal back entering 2020. Puig showed off 23 HRs, over 90 RBIs, but most importantly a .300 batting average and over .900 OPS! That's incredible! After two prior seasons if disappointment, Puig finally lived up to his big deal and let's just hope he can have another sensational postseason like he did last year when he single-handedly obliterated the Giants in the NL Wildcard Game with 3 homers. In center, you have Christian Yelich who is now 30-years old. Yelich was looking like he was hellbent on leaving Miami as a Free Agent to go join the San Francisco Giants, a team from his hometown of California. Instead, the Marlins went all in and gave their CF star a 8-year/240M contract... yeah... I know... insane. He'll be making 35.3M when he's 38-years old which may be problematic for then but as a team trying to compete, it was worth it for his production right now. Finally, you have BIG G. Giancarlo Stanton. He set a career high in homers at 42 and played over 150 games. His batting average wasn't .300, his OBP wasn't .400, and his OPS dipped back below 1.000 but Stanton is still one of the best players in all of baseball as he continues to sky-rocket his way up the MLB Record Books.

                  The Miami Marlins must move on from the regular season and take on the LA Dodgers in the 2022 NLDS!

                  NBA - Miami Heat
                  MLB - Miami Marlins
                  NHL - Florida Panthers
                  Soccer - Real Madrid

                    2018 Oakland Athletics

                    Just finished the ALDS versus the Cleveland Indians. Here is the recap:

                    Game 1: The ALDS started off with a bang as the A's struck for two runs in the first inning against Kluber. Teheran looked strong through four innings for the Athletics, allowing 1 run to hold a 2-1 lead, but in the 5th inning the Indians scored two runs to take a 3-2 lead. Kluber went 7 innings and things looked bleak to start the 8th inning, but we scored five runs to take control of Game 1. Athletics win 7-3. OAK up 1-0

                    Game 2: Jesse Hahn was our most consistent starting pitcher this season, but it didn't carry over to the ALDS. The Indians struck early and often, scoring 5 runs on him in 4 innings. We had to go to our bullpen, but it didn't help. They scored 3 more runs and controlled the rest of the game. Indians win 8-1. Series tied 1-1

                    Game 3: I was originally going to start Sonny Gray in this game, but I decided to go with Jharel Cotton and hold Gray for the HUGE Game 4. I didn't really regret the decision as Cotton had an outstanding game, pitching six scoreless innings before tiring out. We held a 2-0 on a Gyorko home run going into the 7th, but our bullpen wasn't up to the task this game. They instantly gave up 2 runs, and in the 9th inning the Indians won the game with a 2-run double. Indians win 4-2. CLE up 2-1

                    Game 4: Biggest game of the season and we're going with our best pitcher, Sonny Gray. My confidence was very high as Gray had been great late in the season, including an outstanding Wild Card game to get us into the ALDS. Unfortunately, that meant nothing. The Indians hit him hard. They scored 2 runs in the first, 3 runs in the second and 3 runs in the third. They held an 8-1 lead going into the 4th inning. That is when our offense started to figure it out. We scored 2 runs in the 4th, 2 runs in the sixth and 1 run in the 7th to narrow the lead to 8-6. In the 9th inning, I was hoping for a miracle. Dahl and Semien grounded into easy outs to put us at the end of our rope. Out of desperation I put Khris Davis hoping for something crazy, and he delivered with a solo HR! Down 8-7, Holdridge singled to RF, we subbed in our speedy Alexis Urban, and Mark Canha doubled to left-center! With 2-outs Urban rounded third and I HAD to send him home. The relay came in and the play was close but URBAN WAS CALLED OUT! Our season is over. What a tough way to lose, but I don't regret my decision at all. I had to do it. Indians win 8-7. Indians win series 3-1

                    It was an amazing season, I'll keep you guys updated on my offseason.

                    I also plan on starting a 30-team control franchise where I will be taking over my favorite team, the Houston Astros. As you can tell from my lineup in my last post, realism isn't my main priority in this Athletics franchise. I will try to keep my Astros one ultra-realistic, so look for my updates on that as well.

                      Re: MLB The Show 17 Franchise Discussion Thread

                      My first franchise I had posted about on here wasn't getting nearly enough injuries, I wasn't satisfied playing one and then simulating 5, and I slacked on the trade deadline, so I'm restarted (with a better roster too!)

                      Currently in early-mid April, playing every game, we are 6-8 (it's a lot harder playing every game and not simming, which is probably why I was doing so good in my original franchise), and so far the only bright spots have been the bullpen, Nelson Cruz, and Danny Valencia. The only bullpen members who have given up a run are Cody Martin, Ryan Cook, and Edwin Diaz. Nelson Cruz already has 9 HRs, which leads the league and Valencia is hitting .400 still, which currently leads the league.

                      My roster is basically the same:

                      Lineup:
                      SS Jean Segura
                      RF Mitch Haniger
                      2B Robinson Cano
                      DH Nelson Cruz
                      3B Kyle Seager
                      1B Danny Valencia
                      C Mike Zunino
                      CF Leonys Martin
                      LF Jarrod Dyson

                      Bench:
                      UTL Taylor Motter
                      OF Guillermo Heredia
                      C Carlos Ruiz

                      Rotation:
                      Felix Hernandez
                      Hisashi Iwakuma
                      James Paxton
                      Drew Smyly
                      Yovani Gallardo

                      Bullpen:
                      LR Cody Martin
                      MR Jean Machi
                      MR Mark Rzepczynski
                      MR Evan Scribner
                      MR Ryan Cook
                      SU Nick Vincent
                      SU Steve Cishek
                      CL Edwin Diaz

                      Smyly broke his arm is on the 60-day DL so we called up Ariel Miranda (similar to IRL) and he has done pretty well in two starts, including just throwing a CG (1 ER) in my most recent game agasint Miami.

                        I have played the first two games so far against the Rays.
                        Game 1 - Tanaka vs Archer on the hill. My offense came out ice cold, and didn't improve much throughout the game. Tanaka gave up 3 in the 1st on a Longoria HR, 1 in the second, and 1 in the 3rd before pitching a scoreless 1-2-3 inning in the fourth. He came back out in the 5th and allowed the first two batters in the inning to reach base, he was pulled for Adam Warren at that point, who proceeded to give up 4 more runs. The Rays would score two more in the 8th off of JR Graham. Meanwhile my only offense of the game was a wall scraper HR by Matt Holiday in the 2nd inning. My offense could only produce 5 hits, 3 of which were singles. Starlin Castro had the lone double of the game for me. Final score was 11-1 Rays.

                        Game 2 I was hoping to rebound from the terrible game back on Sunday. I was starting Michael Pineda against Alex Cobb. My offense came out cold again, going 1-2-3 in the first. Pineda matched it with a 1-2-3 of his own, so I was feeling pretty confident. Offense came out in the 2nd, Holiday popped out, and then Judge crushed a double to center. Wasn't able to bring him home, however as Castro struck out, and Bird hit a pop up. Pineda gave up a run in the 2nd on a 2 out single, then 2 more in the 3rd. Castro put me on the board in the 4th when a HR, but then Pineda fell apart in the bottom half of the 4th and gave up 4 runs. The bullpen was able to hold the Rays scoreless for the rest of the game. I scored twice more on another HR by Castro, and a HR by Bird. I managed to get 9 hits in the game but couldn't capitalize on my scoring opportunities. Final score 7-3 Rays.

                        Bad start to the season so far, no place to go but up.

                          Just finished the all star break! Here are the Mariner's 2017 All Stars:
                          2B Robinson Cano
                          DH Nelson Cruz
                          SP James Paxton

                          We are currently 45-45, 9 GB in the division and 3 GB of the 2nd WC.

                          --------------------------------------------------

                          Here is our current roster:

                          SS Jean Segura: .268, 9 HR, 35 RBI, 23 SB
                          LF Ben Gamel: .295, 2 HR, 9 RBI, 5 SB
                          2B Robinson Cano: .288, 17 HR, 56 RBI
                          DH Nelson Cruz: .287, 25 HR, 64 RBI
                          3B Kyle Seager: .248, 15 HR, 49 RBI, 3 SB
                          1B Danny Valencia: .284, 10 HR, 47 RBI
                          C Mike Zunino: .209, 10 HR, 26 RBI
                          RF Mitch Haniger: .229, 8 HR, 26 RBI, 13 SB
                          CF Guillermo Heredia: .271, 4 HR, 17 RBI, 14 SB

                          Bench:
                          OF Leonys Martin: .233, 2 HR, 13 RBI, 13 SB
                          UTL Taylor Motter: .208, 2 HR, 12 RBI, 3 SB
                          C Carlos Ruiz: .181, 0 HR, 4 RBI

                          OF Jarrod Dyson - DL: .255, 1 HR, 13 RBI, 22 SB

                          Rotation:
                          1.) James Paxton: 10-5, 126 K, 2.52 ERA, 1.11 WHIP
                          2.) Felix Hernandez: 6-8, 109 K, 4.04 ERA, 1.32 WHIP
                          3.) Ariel Miranda: 6-5, 113 K, 2.74 ERA, 1.14 WHIP
                          4.) Drew Smyly: 0-1, 33 K, 4.89 ERA, 1.37 WHIP
                          5.) Hisashi Iwakuma: 5-8, 91 K, 3.52 ERA, 1.30 WHIP

                          Smyly was hurt at the beginning of the year and missed a lot of time. Miranda filled in nicely for him and made Gallardo expendable, as he was absolute garbage for me.

                          Bullpen:

                          LR Cody Martin (4.63 ERA)

                          MR Mark Rzepczynski (3.74 ERA) (1 Save)
                          MR Jean Machi (2.67 ERA)
                          MR Evan Scribner (3.34 ERA) (1 Save)
                          MR Ryan Cook (2.35 ERA)

                          SU Nick Vincent (1.80 ERA) (2 Saves)
                          SU Steve Cishek (0.96 ERA) (2 Saves)

                          CL Edwin Diaz (3.51 ERA) (15 Saves)

                          Our bullpen has been huge especially Cishek and Vincent in the 7th/8th.

                          -------------------------------------------------

                          Top Prospects:

                          1) CF Kyle Lewis (AA)
                          - Has been doing good in AA, will probably start 2018 there and eventually get called up to AAA.

                          2) LF/RF/DH Tyler O'Neil (AAA)
                          - Has mashed AAA pitching, but the average is a little low (.250s). Wanna see him master AAA pitching before being called up, he's only 20 and has a lot of time to develop into a star cleanup hitter for Seattle.

                          3) CF Victor Esparza (AA - Drafted 17th overall in the 2017 draft)
                          - Will start 2018 in AA. Great Speed. Future lead-off hitter.

                          4) SP Nick Neidert (A)
                          - Will start 2018 in AA. Hopefully can at least become a solid back end rotation guy in the future.

                          5) CF Brayan Hernandez (A)
                          - Will start 2018 in AA. Starting outfield of Hernandez/Lewis/Esparza will be crazy.

                            C Carlos Ruiz: .181, 0 HR, 4 RBI

                            OF Jarrod Dyson - DL: .255, 1 HR, 13 RBI, 22 SB

                            Rotation:
                            1.) James Paxton: 10-5, 126 K, 2.52 ERA, 1.11 WHIP
                            2.) Felix Hernandez: 6-8, 109 K, 4.04 ERA, 1.32 WHIP
                            3.) Ariel Miranda: 6-5, 113 K, 2.74 ERA, 1.14 WHIP
                            4.) Drew Smyly: 0-1, 33 K, 4.89 ERA, 1.37 WHIP
                            5.) Hisashi Iwakuma: 5-8, 91 K, 3.52 ERA, 1.30 WHIP

                            Smyly was hurt at the beginning of the year and missed a lot of time. Miranda filled in nicely for him and made Gallardo expendable, as he was absolute garbage for me.

                            Bullpen:

                            LR Cody Martin (4.63 ERA)

                            MR Mark Rzepczynski (3.74 ERA) (1 Save)
                            MR Jean Machi (2.67 ERA)
                            MR Evan Scribner (3.34 ERA) (1 Save)
                            MR Ryan Cook (2.35 ERA)

                            SU Nick Vincent (1.80 ERA) (2 Saves)
                            SU Steve Cishek (0.96 ERA) (2 Saves)

                            CL Edwin Diaz (3.51 ERA) (15 Saves)

                            Our bullpen has been huge especially Cishek and Vincent in the 7th/8th.......
                            Nice to see another Seattle franchise. I'm currently sitting at 64-57 and while I'm in the race for the division and wild card it's a long shot. My pitching has been horrible and suddenly I'm suffering through a power outage making it difficult to score runs at times. I struggle to get the offense and pitching going in the same game, it's always one or the other so I find myself losing games 3-1 and then 11-7, it's a terrible trend that I've been in for 30 games easy. I started the year 17-9 but was on All-Star, when May came around I switched over to HOF and have since gone a pathetic 47-50, hence my doubt about making the playoffs. I wish I had blown the team up at the deadline, Cano and Cruz fell off a cliff ratings wise, Iwakuma became miserable when he finally returned from the DL and signing Justin Morneau to fill in when I had a plethora of injuries did no good as he's now hitting .230 with zero power to speak of.

                            The only bright spots are Segura and Dyson. Both of them are top 5 in the AL in average, Seager and Cruz were mashing until late July when both went ice cold and neither can square anything up. Robinson Cano has been pretty solid and Haniger is turning in a potential ROY season but Zunino/Ruiz are rather worthless at catcher, Motter is hit or miss, Morneau is garbage and Valencia is all over the place so with Cruz and Seager cold it's become a chore to score runs.

                              Currently on a 6 game winning streak, two games before the trade deadline. This has allowed me to pull away from the pack as I am 7 games ahead of the Yankees for 1st In the AL East.

                              The biggest surprise has been Kendrys Morales who has hit a home run in 5 consecutive games and now is batting .295 with 42 homers and 84 RBI with still 2 months to go in the regular season. His scary resurgence has been very nice In the middle of my lineup and he really enjoys Rogers centre as 30 of his 42 have been hit at home.

                              Most impressive was his 3-run walk off in the 10th Inning last game against the Angels after being down 2 going into the bottom of the 10th.

                              I think I am done for trades, but may look to acquire a minor league starter prior to the deadline in case of an injury to my rotation.

                              I can only hope this hot streak and team power surge can continue!

                                Valencia is doing really really well for me. Zunino is Zunino lol. Seager is having another average year for me. Cano and Cruz are doing really for me so far too. Cano is 1st in the AL MVP race, but only because the game doesn't recognize how good Mike Trout has been. I just hope I can get another good year out of Cruz next year before he leaves/retires because he's regressing fast. I won't be re-signing him when his contract is up because I want Tyler O'Neil to be my primary DH by 2019. I would call him up this September 2017, and give him a chance to make the team in 2018, but Gamel/Haniger/Dyson/Heredia/Martin are all serviceable OFs and there is no room for O'Neil's shaky defense.

                                Dyson has actually been on the DL for over 2 months now and I don't really know who to send down when he returns. It's kind of a good problem to have, but it still sucks. I think I'm gonna send Heredia down as he and Gamel are still young and have some potential but Gamel is already mashing MLB pitching. Heredia could get some good reps against AAA pitching and boost his OVR/POT potentially.
