Yes the CPU is and I am now that I'm in the World Series. As long as you don't push your SP too far into the yellow he will be fully rested to pitch again when his turn comes back around in a 4-man rotation. I was pushing their stamina too much in the earlier rounds as I had no confidence in the bullpen and because of that they were only getting to 80-85% stamina by the time it would have been their start so I ended up cotinuing to use a 5-man rotation at that time.

Started playing game 1 of a three game series against the Mets as the Phillies.

I let random number generator decide what team I will play with, and then which three pr four game series I will play pf theirs on that calendar week. Just gave up a two run homerun to Cabrera bottom of the 1st, Hellickson pitching.

Is there any way to add a player to my current franchise roster (July 10th in season) that was added for a roster update?

          Ian Happ in particular.

Re: MLB The Show 17 Franchise Discussion Thread

Well needless to say I'm pretty much done with Felix Hernandez and his overpaid ***. Going into game 3 tied at 1-1 I had hopes that Felix would prove me wrong and step up big when I needed him, after all that's why he's getting paid $16 million but, yet again, I was let down by an 89 rated SP that can't locate anything and seemingly puts it on a tee for the CPU. His stat line...

            Felix Hernandez - 4.1 IP, 11 Hits, 7 ER, 4 K's, 1 BB

He brought his postseason ERA to an abysmal 7.14 in the process and went to 1-2. He has been complete trash, when Iwakuma is out pitching him that's a major issue. I lost the game 8-1 which brings me to my next problem...my offense has completely disappeared in the World Series. After leading the league in average, runs scored and HR's they've suddenly turned into a team that can't get on base and in the random event they do they can't advance anyone on the bases either. It's like a dark cloud has engulfed my entire lineup, not a soul is hitting well and it were it not for Justin Morneau turning in a huge performance in game 1 I'd easily be down 3-0 right now. I've got Sonny Gray on the mound for game 4 but I have zero confidence in my rotation. Even if Gray continues pitching well and I pull off the victory then I'm stuck with Paxton and Smyly for the next 2 games and no way they can duplicate what they did in games 1 and 2.

Speaking of Smyly, some of this morale stuff has got to go. He is rated a 81 but due to morale he's dropped all the way to a 76. He's angry over his contract (which is horse **** because he was fine with it until his rating went up at seasons end then his expection went up and now suddenly he thinks he's underpaid) and he's angry over his individual performance. Please explain how a guy going 12-6 with a 3.49 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP is somehow below league average? I know overall is just an arbitrary number but when you suffer a 5 point loss to your overall it also effects your individual ratings as well when in game so suddenly his 70 H/9 turns into a 65 etc and that does make a difference when you don't exactly have a lot to spare. They really need to fine tune this or get rid of it entirely as it makes next to no sense in the way it's implemented.

Re: MLB The Show 17 Franchise Discussion Thread

Just finished arguably the most insane, unbelievable comeback I've ever had in all my years of baseball video gaming. And it came in Game 1 of the NLDS. Let me set it up...

Jake Arrieta vs Stephen Strasburg, Game 1 of the NLDS from Nationals Park.

Pitchers duel to say the least as Strasburg tossed 8 innings of NO HIT baseball. I drew one walk but going into the ninth inning Strasburg had a no-hitter going and had an exceptionally low pitch count. Demoralized and down 2-0 going into the ninth the pitchers spot was due up. I call on Ian Happ.... base hit over the shortstops head into left field. Whew, at least I didn't get no hit. And then... Dusty... pulls Strasburg... for Treinen.

Next batter, Jon Jay. He runs the count full and I put Happ in motion trying to stay out of a double play and believing that I can either put the ball in play or draw a walk... base hit. First and second, no outs. Then Schwarber strikes out. One out runners at second and third. Next batter, Kris Bryant... doubles down the third base line. Happ scores to make it 2-1. Runners at second and third, still one out. The Nationals walk Rizzo to load the bases. Next batter, Ben Zobrist... swinging bunt but Treinen is unable to field it, Jay scores, tie game, 2-2. Then Addison Russell loops a single into right field, Happ scores and the Cubs take the lead, 3-2. Wade Davis closes it out and the Cubs steal one from the Nationals.

              Unbelievable.

Re: MLB The Show 17 Franchise Discussion Thread

Short and sweet.....we lost 5-3 and am now down 3-1 in the series. Washington is just too loaded against RHP, its impossible to get them all out. My offense struggled again, the lone bright spot was benching Leonys Martin and putting Taylor Motter in LF as he connected on a 3-run HR and went 2/4 in the process. Unfortunately the run producers of my offense (Cano, Cruz, Seager) went a combined 1/11 with 3 K's, kinda hard to get anything going when the heart of your order puts up a stat line like that. Mitch Haniger continues to shine going 2/4 with a run scored keeping his postseason batting average at a nice .354 but Cano is hitting .228 and Cruz is at .269m Dyson and Segura keep getting on at the top of the order but nobody drives them in and thats the story of my World Series to date.

Game 5 will be James Paxton vs AJ Cole. Theres a glimmer of hope as Washington isn't as lethal against LHP so maybe Paxon and then Smyly can come through and send it to a game 7 but then I have to rely on Felix and I'd rather pitch Yovani Gallardo over him at this point. The kicker to this is Bryce Harper hasn't done much going 4/12 with 3 Runs and 1 RBI, solid average but he hasn't gone deep once through 4 games but David Murphy and old *** Zimmerman have done enough to get them to where they are.

                  End of April - 2019

First month of the season went by quick, Kind of expected when there is only 20 games. We sit at 9-11. Tied with the Twins for 2nd. 4.5 games behind the Tigers for 1st. 3.5 games behind the Astros and Angels for the last wild card spot. 17 of those games were against the division and we went 9-8. Those damn Tigers took 5 of 6 from us. Here is how the series played out.

Took 2 of 3 against the White Sox
                  Swept by the Tigers
                  Swept the Twins
Lost 2 of 3 to the Tigers
                  Swept by Baltimore
Took 2 of 3 from the Twins
Split the first 2 games of a 3 games series against the Indians

We definitely dont have the talent to beat the top teams. Tigers and Orioles have shown us that. And its not like the team has been bad. Everything is pretty average. We did suffer 1 injury. Ruben Sosa tore his Achilles on the 23rd. He was playing pretty well out in CF. Hitting .313/.340/.417. Called up Billy Burns from AAA to replace him. He was hitting .354/.404/.604 in 48 at bats. In his 4 games up in the majors he is hitting .308/.400/.385 (13 AB).

Here is how the rest of the offense is doing
                  Jorge Soler - .344/.385/.639. 5 HR 14 RBI (61 AB)
                  Meibrys Viloria - .333/.333/.833. 1 HR (6 AB)
                  Mike Moustakas - .304/405/.536. 4 HR 13 RBI (69 AB)
                  Corey Toups - .253/.303/.361. 7 2B, 1 3B (83 AB)
                  Salvador Perez - .247/.275/.558. 7 HR, 14 RBI (77 AB)
                  Alex Gordon - .246/.292/.426. 2 HR 10 RBI (61 AB)
                  Cheslor Cuthbert - .235/.316/.294 (17 AB)
                  Peter O'Brien - .221/.270/.485. 5 HR, 12 RBI (68 AB)
                  Ramon Torres - .220/.266/.288. (59 AB)
                  Whit Merrifield - .200/238/.2003 (20 AB)
                  Hunter Dozier - .200/.293/.354. 2 HR, 4 RBI (65 AB)
                  Bubba Starling - .130/.200/.217 (23 AB)

Once you get passed Moose things start to look a bit bleak. Its nice to see Soler doing well though. We really rely on him, Moose and Salvy to power the offense and for the most part they are all doing their job. Hunter Dozier has probably been the most underwhelming so far. He hit .258/.307/.4.35 last year. A bit early to worry to much though. And no one down in AAA is playing like they want to be called up so anyone doing bad will just have to fight through it for now.

Pitching is doing a bit better for us. For the most part.

                  Danny Duffy - 2-1, 4.15 ERA, 0.83 WHIP, 23 SO in 21.2 IP
                  Eric Skoglund - 2-2, 1.80 ERA, 1.56 WHIP, 17 SO in 25 IP
                  Ian Kennedy - 2-1, 3.91 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, 23 SO in 25.1 IP
                  Nate Karns - 1-1, 5.40 ERA, 1.47 WHIP, 27 SO in 18.1 IP
                  Kyle Zimmer - 0-3, 7.78 ERA, 1.63 WHIP, 20 SO in 19.2 IP

Well i guess its not really all that much better. The numbers kind of lie though. Danny Duffy gave up 4 runs in the 1st inning of the 1st game of the season. Then bounced back and ended up going 7 innings with just those 4 runs. And got the win. His ERA is 2.6 something since that 1st inning. In his 2nd start he went 3.2 innings before being pulled with an injury. Hadnt allowed a hit or walk to that point. Everything was fine though. Skoglund is giving up a pretty good amount of walks and hits. But keeps working his way out of danger. Kennedyis doing about what we need Kennedy to do. While Karns and Zimmer. Especially Zimmer. Just keep giving up runs left and right. The bullpen though is actually a bit better.

                  Matt Strahm - 0-0, 0.00 ERA, 0.47 WHIP, 4 SO in 6.1 IP
                  Seth Maness - 0-0, 3.00 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, 3 SO in 6 IP
                  Brian Flynn - 0-1, 7.71 ERA, 0.86 WHIP, 6 SO in 4.2 IP
                  Kevin McCarthy - 1-0, 0.00 ERA, 0.54 WHIP, 8 SO in 9.1 IP
                  Mike Minor - 1-1, 2.35 ERA, 0.83 WHIP, 24 SO in 23 IP
                  Chris Withrow - 0-0, 1.80 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 13 SO in 10 IP
                  Yender Caramo - 0-1, 7.94 ERA, 1.94 WHIP, 4 SO in 5.2 IP

So aside from Caramo and Flynn everyone is what they need to do to help us win. And Flynn has only given up 3 hits with a walk. He has just allowed all of them to score. Mike Minor could end up getting a couple starts here soon if Zimmer cant get it together. I really really really hope Zimmer can get his **** together though.

Gonna wait another month before updating on the minor league. But our AA looks damn good. And with that the future. May could end up being a rough month for us. We have 28 games. Only 8 of them will be at home. 12 more division games. And 3 of them against Detroit. So we can probably count those as losses already.

Im so pissed. Playing the White Sox. Im up 9-2 in the 6th. Had a 7 run 2nd inning. Perez and Dozier both homered with Dozier's being a grand slam. Perez hit a 2nd HR later. Annnnnnd then the power goes out. And i knew i should have saved about an inning earlier after a pretty close lightning strike. **** you mother nature you hateful bitch.

Finished year 1 with the Braves at 69-93. That earns me the 4th overall pick. My pitching staff almost had a sub 3 era on the year overperforming for sure. My lineup for "hot" the final few weeks of the year and barely got my team average to .250 on the year. My lineup underperformed terribly all year.

I was able to get Eduardo Nunez in free agency for 2 years. I figured he'd be good to have until Rio Ruiz is ready to play everyday. I killed my budget by accidentally giving Bonifacio a qualifying offer when I meant to release him. For whatever dumb reason I couldn't undo that so my cash flow was killed to like 100k a week. I traded him away with some really good prospects for an average player to simulate dumping a bad contract while giving a rebuilding team two top prospects, but my cash flow didn't change so I'm stuck with limited moves this year.

Well as predicted my team lost in the World Series, James Paxton was set to pitch and I knew his highly erratic *** wasn't going to be able to replicate what he did in game 1 of the series. Well I was right, he went 3.2 IP and gave up 8 ER, at one point I just stopped giving a **** and started grooving pitches to end the game. Eventually I simulated to the end in what would be a 13-4 loss. Washington's lineup is just too stacked, it's impossible to pitch to them if you can't hit your target and for whatever reason my guys don't pitch to their ratings at all when I play the games, when I sim they do but when playing everyone is erratic as hell and can't locate. I don't know if it's because I'm on HOF or if classic pitching this year is just screwy and doesn't represent realistic pitching but one of the two, or both, has really caused an issue where my team doesn't know how to locate anything.

In game 4 I had Evan Scribner out there and his 92 BB/9, 98 control in his fastball, 96 control in his curve yet I literally couldn't groove a fastball with minimal effort as he would walk 3 guys in the inning before escaping without damage. That's the type of thing I am talking about, highly erratic pitching on HOF Classic, no idea what it is that is causing it but something has to give.

Anyways, on to the offseason after a disappointing end to the season. I can't stand a majority of this team so there will be swift changes and then I'll address the slider issue and figure that out hopefully.

I just played a 4 game series against the Nats. And I had no trouble with them. Shut them out 3 games. And the last game they scored 10 runs.

Cool to see people having success or trouble vs certain teams.

Yeah, I did a couple things that might have influenced it. Every week when a live roster dropped I'd update all the players in my franchise so some guys might be rated higher then they were prior, ie. Zimmerman for sure. My pitching just can't locate, they have good games here and there but overall they are terrible and I can't quite understand it. If I sim then they pitch well according to the end game stats, I play and they are horrible.

17-24 with the Oakland A's. Dead last in the west. It has been a struggle to say the least, and as of June 1st I will start to sell for the future. I was offered a deal to aquire Putnam from the White Sox and quickly declined. Looking forward, by August 1st my rotation will be:

                              Hahn
                              Puk
                              Manea
                              Triggs
                              Bassit

Gray will be moved to the Yankees probably and I will start to sell off the higher contracted/older individuals... time to right the ship!

It's just a few days away from Opening Day 2018 for my Oakland Athletics (74-88 in 2017) and I am already having to make some tough roster decisions. Here's my Projected 25-Man Roster:

                                Starting Rotation
                                SP1 - S. Manaea
                                SP2 - K. Graveman
                                SP3 - A. Triggs
                                SP4 - J. Cotton
                                SP5 - D. Gossett

                                Bullpen
                                MR - L. Hendriks
                                MR - R. Dull
                                MR - A. Bastardo
                                MR - F. Montas
                                SU - S. Doolittle
                                SU - S. Casilla
                                CP - D. Mengden

                                Lineup
                                1. F. Barretto 2B
                                2. T. Thompson CF
                                3. K. Davis LF
                                4. R. Healy DH
                                5. M. Adams 1B
                                6. M. Chapman 3B
                                7. M. Semien SS
                                8. J. Phegley C
                                9. C. Granderson RF

                                Bench
                                1. C. Pinder UT
                                2. B. Maxwell C
                                3. T. Hernandez OF
                                4. J. Brugman OF

My plan is to rotate in a Long Reliever for series against the best teams and drop one of the outfielders to the minors. I'm not sure how that will work, but I'll have to see. My options are R. Alcantara, P. Blackburn, and J. Hahn.

Daniel Mengden has converted to a Closer since he seemed like he was blowing up on the mound in every start. He didn't allow any runs in the last month of 2017 and earned 6 saves.

Matt Joyce will probably be DFA'd since he's out of options and Chris Heisey will be kept in AAA for depth. Also, Yairo Munoz played really well in the last week of 2017 with Barretto on the DL with a hip problem, and even homered on the last day of the season. His ceiling is probably a back-up infielder, but he's one player I've got my eye on for now.

We open the season on a tough 7-game road trip against the Rangers (89-73 in 2017) and the Astros (100-62 in 2017).
