You can be blunt and clear about your opinion all you want but I don't think it's accurate.

Has nothing to do with him being a two way player. This isn't the first time they've negotiated rights with international players before the game is released. It's not like this is a FIRST for the game.

it is of cause to my opinion and that only is, that I simply think the only reason he is going to be in the game early is the fact he is a 2 way player and they needed a way to implement it, we didn't see Tanaka Darvish Ryu, Park, Jang, maeda Abrue

The hype for tanaka was more then Otani.

You keep saying the same thing but your premise is off. They never would have needed his rights to create the ability to have a two way player which unless I misunderstand you is what you believe is their motivation.

Correct I am trying to say it was their motivation behind it.

I know other players are trying to be 2 way players, but not to the extent that this guy is going to attempt it at.

My guess is, and only guess, This won't be a editable feature at all, it will be locked to only Otani. The same way as switch pitching was, I would be very surprised if it was a feature added to be edited in for the game for us

EDIT Fukudome was in the trailer in 08 and wasn't in the game till a roster update

So just saying this really hasn't been done before. where a player has been in the game day 1 release

I expect they will just let pitchers be used as DH’s or play a position (OF for Ohtani).

That is my guess. On the lineup screen it will now let you put pitchers in if need be.

If Ohtani is really in I wouldn't be surprised if the 2-way player distinction is only attached to him(and other players already in the game) and not CAPS.

I am pretty sure that will be the case, which is why we hope he is on the default roster,

Otherwise we have to wait 2 weeks for a updated roster with him in it.

I am fairly sure he will be on the default roster. Why would they buy the individual rights to him if they were going to wait two weeks to put him in the game anyway? I also think that he will have a face scan. If he had a generic face and wasn't on the roster until two weeks into the season then the pros would not outweigh the cons and there would be no reason to buy the individual rights to him when they could just wait for him to make his MLB debut.

It'll likely be a franchise question, as that's probably the one mode where the intricacies of the 2-way player would feature most (with RTTS a slight potential possibility).

There's also those 6 little stars under Franchise on their Twitch Stream schedule - okay not necessarily accurate given this week but Ohtani fits that nicely, and is one potential 'feature' that will appear in real life MLB in 2018 and has been known about for a while, so maybe they've managed to get that code working correctly as to make the Angels use him as intended.

Hideki Matsui was in Sony's MLB game on PS2 in 2003. He wasn't in MVP, High Heat, All-Star Baseball or MLB 2K3 that year. Dice-K was in The Show 07 and wasn't in 2K7. It's been done before.

They are very careful about what they show in trailers. They knew what they were doing sneaking a clip of Ohtani in there.

Not the first time they negotiated with a Japanese player before their MLBPA debut. They did it with Dice-K several years back. Makes a lot of sense marketing wise for Japanese fans/gamers.

What year was that?? I forgot about that.. but was he in the game after a roster update the first week?

Actually, I might be mistaken. Dice-K's debut was in '07, and he was "Tate Baik" in the game debut (PS2 version).

Maybe I am misremembering, and they included either him later with an official roster update or maybe it was another player.

Edit: He was in the PS3 version, but that one was delayed almost 2.5 months (May 15th vs. Feb. 26th PS2) and he was unionized already. So no outside contract was done.

This is what I was saying earlier. The 2-way distinction (if it's even in 18) will only be attached to him and a few others already in the game (Beathancourt and Eibner), but not CAPs. That is my fear. hopefully I'm wrong though and they surprise us down the road. Probably have to wait for the RTTS stream.
