Showtyme, did you say you had an old Micah Owings or someone else besides Jason Lane for a P with secondary position other than OF that you've been carrying over?

He was in either a trailer or a video they showed. The Cubs were playing the Cardinals and Fukudome hit one the opposite way. As a Cubs fan I remember it well because I was exited he would be in only to see he wasn't.

My guess is they have his rights, just like anyone else on a teams 40 man roster, but he can't officially be in the game until he plays a game.

Ohtani is going to be on the default, day-one roster. Sony got his rights individually.

You don't have to play a game to actually be on the default roster. It helps to be on a 40 man roster the year before even if you don't actually get in a game.

This would work IF and I mean only IF the 2 way player thing was done that those players would show up in the lineup in mlb 18. if it is done in a way it's only locked to otani though I could imagine it won't work this year either.

You don't have to play a game to actually be on the default roster. It helps to be on a 40 man roster the year before even if you don't actually get in a game.

Completely untrue,

You have to have played 1 game in the majors to be allowed in the game.

or have got some service time the previous year on the 40 man roster and NOT played in a minor league game. this is why Zack Wheeler was missing last year.

All of this must be untrue then, because Ohtani certainly didn't play at least one game in the Majors, nor did he acquire service time on any 40-man roster.

I mean, I'd trust it if Pastapadre says it. He's one of the biggest names in sports gaming news there is. If any non-dev would have that information, it'd be him.

But that's just me. Considering a pitcher named Ohtani has been seen in a video, considering a batting stance named Shohei Ohtani has been seen in a video.

Not sure what you mean by "this would work". I'm just checking to see if there is a McKay work around for secondary position as 1B, if they continue to lock secondary positions for pitchers. Even if he couldn't start at 1B (not ideal), it would still be nice to be able to play him there in the field without a massive ratings drop.
