So my rosters are basically on point with real prospects until A ball. I have real contracts as well. I want to Package Ellsbury with Clint Frazier and Torreyes to someone to either get rid of Jacoby by offering Frazier or improve on a Position like SP, 3B, 1B, 2B or a speedster / plus fielder. I'm banking on Frazier being valuable. Any suggestions?

Re: MLB 18 The Show Trade Discussion
I'm planning on using the Rangers and I've accepted that it's time to move on from some of the few worthwhile pieces the team has. At the trade deadline, I intend to move most/all of the below: (Surplus was what I got, let me know if I'm wrong, easily could be)
3B - Adrian Beltre - 31.3 Mill Surplus
SS - Elvis Andrus - 90.5 Mill Surplus
SP - Cole Hamels - 9.2 Mill Surplus
2B - Rougned Odor - 3.4 Mill Surplus
I don't have a lot to work with here outside of Elvis and Adrian. My primary focus would be getting young pitching and infield talent. Gallo and Mazara are off limits as they're the future. I'm open to moving DeShields Jr. and I'm well aware that Choo isn't movable due to salary unless I'm taking another bad salary in return.
The farms I'm most interested in dealing with are Colorado, New York (AL), Philadelphia, St. Louis and Toronto. I'm willing to take on bad contracts for greater prospect returns. Part of my thinking is moving Hamels with Elvis to increase return value. A few scenarios I'm curious about, I'm sure some are mind-numbingly terrible but that's why I'm asking.
COL Receives: SS Elvis Andrus | SP Cole Hamels | 1B - Ronald Guzman
TEX Receives: SS Trevor Story | SP Peter Lambert | 3B - Colton Welker
NYY Receives: 3B Adrian Beltre | SP Cole Hamels |
TEX Receives: SP Albert Abreu/SP Chance Adams | SS Thairo Estrada | SP Dillon Tate
PHI Receives: SS Elvis Andrus | SP Cole Hamels
TEX Receives: 2B Scott Kingery (I'm crazy aren't I?) | SP Ranger Suarez | SP Spencer Howard
STL Receives: 2B Rougned Odor | C Jose Trevino | RP Ricardo Rodriguez
TEX Receives: C Carson Kelly | SP Jake Woodford | SS Delvin Perez
TOR Receives: SS Elvis Andrus | SP Cole Hamels | SP Michael Matuella
TEX Receives: SS Troy Tulowitzki | SS Bo Bichette (See I get crazier)| C Riley Adams | SP Sean Reid-Foley
CIN Receives: 2B Rougned Odor | C Jose Trevino | SP Alex Speas
TEX Receives: 2B Scooter Gennett | C Tyler Stephenson | SP Scott Moss
All of these might be terrible, let me know if they are. I definitely want to be realistic, even if it hurts some. My boys in Arlington are in a tough spot this year. I'm open to moving one of my top four OF prospects considering it is the position in which I'll be most log-jammed.Last edited by Yankees247; 03-31-2018, 06:03 AM.Comment

Re: MLB 18 The Show Trade Discussion
Davis has a surplus of 27 million which means you could get one of their pitching prospects like Ian Anderson but it doesnt make much sense on the Braves part since they are rebuilding and davis does nothing for them since Acuna is going to take an outfield position within the next couple weeksComment

As for Davis, if he’s only $27M then that’d be lower-tiered prospect according to Fangraphs. I don’t see Oakland giving him up for that nor him netting a return of Ian Anderson, but what about a Toussaint and lotto ticket package?Comment

Re: MLB 18 The Show Trade Discussion
IMO the only one that makes sense is the COL/TEX trade. New York already has a crap ton of infielders( bird, walker, wade, torreyes, didi, drury, andujar and Torres) STL isn’t trading Carson kelly (who they are VERY high on) for players with little value( I could see them using kelly to try to get Donaldson in some kind of trade) PHI, TOR and CIN are all rebuilding and have no interest in taking on players that are older. Just my opinion
I appreciate the input.
I probably like the Colorado trade the most so that works out. Story is a local kid so bringing him back home to Texas makes sense. Is there a scenario in which I could swap Brendan Rodgers in for Colton Welker? I would be open to adding Julio Pablo Martinez or Pedro Gonzalez to the deal if it brought back Rodgers.
I think you’re probably right about STL and PHI but man I like Kingery. New York was one that I felt was situational. If Drury and Sabathia both underperform, New York could be interested in Beltre and Hamels to solidify their World Series run. Still, I don’t know that they take from their farm for two players they’re getting two years max from.
Toronto was an interesting one for me. Toronto would have to be competing and Tulo would have to be continuing at his downward trend. Thus, I would take on Tulo’s substantial contract, Toronto would be getting an All-Star SS so the need for Bichette isn’t as dire. With that said, I know this is a complicated scenario as Toronto would be trying to compete in a division with Boston and New York. They may still sell off Donaldson even if they are winning.
Cincinnati is a bit weird I know. Primary focus there was Cincinnati getting younger in a fringe yet-promising second basemen like Odor and a prospect swap. I also like Gennett.Comment

Re: MLB 18 The Show Trade Discussion
I’m going to be using the Braves and I want to bring in a power corner outfielder and a solid 1/2 starting pitcher so I can compete sooner rather than later. Davis will take Markakis’ spot rather than Acuna’s, leaving Markakis as a bench bat/injury insurance until I can find a suitor for him at the deadline.

Re: MLB 18 The Show Trade Discussion
If the Orioles are out of it and having a fire sale come July, would the Yankees realistically be able to trade for Machado? I know it was discussed this off-season, and i'm planning on throwing as much money as possible at him in the off-season, but could use his bat for the playoffs.
Anyway to get him without giving up Gleyber Torres?New York Yankees
New York Jets
New York KnicksComment

Re: MLB 18 The Show Trade Discussion
Thanks for your insight. I think I like that Colorado trade. Texas gets younger, I can play one of Story/Rodgers (when I call him up) at 3rd and the other at SS.
I’m going to brainstorm a little more on deals for one or both of Beltre and Odor as I feel the farm really needs a few more pieces. Beltre deserves a championship and I’m just not personally high on Odor despite being a Ranger fan.
Last year got to a point in which realistic trades were discussed and solidified almost immediately by a solid group of 4 or 5. I love the way this thread pulls people’s minds together to merely talk probabilities. It’s great.

Others might disagree so maybe wait for some follow up but I can’t see a deal for Machado that doesn’t start with Torres. 1.) He fills a need. 2.) Machado will be expensive despite an expiring contract. 3.) You get taxed for being Inner-Division.
Again, wait for some assurance. But I’d say Torres, Adams and Estrada maybe.Comment
