Re: MLB 18 The Show Trade Discussion
In my White Sox franchise i'm looking at 3 things:
Moving Nate Jones to Houston
Acquiring Kyle Barraclough from Miami
Moving James Shields.
What players am i looking at having to give up to Miami? And what from Houston's farm could i acquire, i really like Cionel Perez and Jonathan Arauz from them, but i dont know if that is too much for asking.
The only thing I can say about Barraclough is that I don't see Miami being motivated to move him. I would need a little more help from Bard and Co. on developing surplus numbers for players who still have arbitration years ahead of them as well before I could give you a realistic number. Regardless of that, I can tell you he's going to be pricey.
James Shields appears to have a surplus of around -2 Mill. Thus, you're not going to get much back of note from anyone for Shields unless the guy is balling out at the deadline.Comment

Re: MLB 18 The Show Trade Discussion
Nate Jones appears to have a surplus of around 16 Mill. I would probably lean more towards a deal of Solis and Arauz. But if you were willing to throw in a guy like Spencer Adams, you could probably move up to get Perez and Arauz. You might get some clarification on this as some may think I'm out of my mind. I'm still teaching myself a bit about prospect value and professional surplus.

but I do agree about Barraclough being a little tricky to trade for bc the marlins don’t have to move him right away.Comment

Re: MLB 18 The Show Trade Discussion
Nate Jones has a surplus of 25 million so I think Perez and arauz for Jones is okay.
Barracrough is worth 30 million surplus so if you give
Sheets and adolfo.
Shields has a -30 million surplus so you would need to add in a prospect like a fulmer or dunning just to break even.
See Bard only came out to around 3 Mill on Odor. Averaging you guys out still only leaves me around the 9 Mill mark. If I'm talking Dodgers, that likely puts me in the territory of getting someone like Morgan Cooper and Ronny Brito?Comment

Lol I just responded and my numbers don't match up with yours. I'll trust yours ahead of mine as I'm just getting into all of this and it's a bit messy.

Re: MLB 18 The Show Trade Discussion
I believe bard uses 8.5 million per WAR where I use 10 million. I use 10 million based on watching mlb network and listening to the “experts” talk about how much value there is per WAR and they use 10 so if it’s good enough for them that is what I use to factor my numbers but you would be correct in the range of prospects your talking about or even Jordan Sheffield who I think could have some high upside but has kind of failed lately as a prospect.Comment

Re: MLB 18 The Show Trade Discussion
Ah I see, I see. I started off using 7.5 Mill per WAR and then I moved it up to 8.5 when talking with Bard. Dude knows his stuff. I wish I liked a 2nd piece from the Dodgers but when you're dealing that low in their system, a lot of those positional pieces are already mid-twenties.Comment

Re: MLB 18 The Show Trade Discussion
Yeah I understand what you mean about finding someone worth trading him for but unfortunately he just isn’t worth much. It’d pretty much be a salary/roster spot dump. Also agree bard knows his stuff and gives very good advice. I’m trying to help out because I know in years past it gets hectic when osfm rosters are out and it’s hard for one person to keep up. So I hope I can give half as good advice for people.Comment

Yeah I am kind of shocked they haven’t shown up. They normally have by now.Comment

Re: MLB 18 The Show Trade Discussion
Going to start a Twins franchise and looking into possibly trading for one of Felipe Rivero, Arodys Vizcaino, or Jake McGee. What are each of their surplus values? I get 24.2 million for Rivero, 4.6 million for Vizcaino, and -1 million for McGee. Did I calculate those right? Rivero's surplus value seems way too low to meComment

Re: MLB 18 The Show Trade Discussion
I'll try to give some advice too but i don't use a system i just do what feels right. i believe not every trade has to be equal just cause they aren't always in real life.
Neil Walker for Jon Niese....didn't make sense much but they did it.Comment

Re: MLB 18 The Show Trade Discussion
I was wondering about the price and realization of a couple players to trade for. I'll be using the Braves and want a pitcher and outfield bat and have batted around some ideas in here.
What would asking price be for Taijuan Walker of D'Backs and would they trade him?
And would the Mets be willing to dump Cespedes and what would they want back?Comment

I'll let somebody else answer on Cespedes. I don't know if he's really on the market.Comment
